Maybelline Volum' Express Colossal Spider Effect Black Mascara

This is one of those mascaras I honestly think everyone and their mothers has honestly tried. I remember advertising being all over the place for this bad boy... however was it honestly worth it!? Mehhhh. I honestly don’t live for this. It’s a basic mascara like every other one in my eyes. Doesn’t give me volume. Leaves my lashes a bit clumpy and think. Doesn’t lengthen them at all really. Spend the extra money on a nicer brand because you can truly live without this if you haven’t tried it already. Or even a different one in the Maybelline line. Maybelline kills the drug store industry when it comes to makeup however this mascara really doesn’t.

This mascara is awesome! They aren't kidding when they call it "Glam Black"-- it looks and feels totally glamorous! BUT it does go on a little clumpy, which makes your lashes look pretty luscious, and definitely adds length, but I find that by the end of the day it has left residue under my eyes, giving a raccoon-esque look, because there's so much product that goes on the lashes even after one swipe. You might not mind that if your day ends at 5, but if you put it on first thing in the morning, don't expect it to look amazing by 8 or 9 at night.It does do its job though, and for a drugstore mascara it is awesome. I love the brush, too! It's different from any other brush I've ever used, in a good way!

One of my favorite mascaras. I honestly don't like the bulky design of this one but the mascara works amazing. It really defines the lashes while thickening to add volume and length. One of the best affordable mascaras I've tried! I love the intense black pigment. I have Brown eyes so I feel like this mascara helps them pop more.

My favorite mascara. I bought it on a whim, not expecting much. I vote it all time best drugstore mascara. The brush is a unique one, with bristles on 2/3 of the stick, and a flat edge. It's shaped for a perfect application of light mascara near your nose, and thick long lashes on the edges of your eyes.You do need to "learn" how to use this mascara. At first it came on very thick and clumpy, and my eyelashes stuck together into 4 big clumps. But after much trial and error, I get a perfect application every time. Be sure to wipe off as much mascara as possible, and then build up your coats. Sometimes I use an old eyebrow brush to brush out clumps in case of emergency. I believe I am an ambassador for you Maybelline Falsies Flare line. I purchased it probably the first week it came out (years ago) & have NOT used any other mascara ever. I purchase about 2-3 a month which racks up.However, the last one I purchased must've been a dud because it made my eyelashes clump together which has never happened to me before. I asked Walmart what to do, they suggested I write them because it & I quote wasn't their make or problem. They aren't the manufacturers. Had to go out & purchase another tube from target instead. It was an inconvenience for sure & a waste of gas.ASIDE from that I love the product, I know some would say they wouldn't use this product ever again after that BUT the good out ways the bad here. I love this mascara - so much volume and length!

This mascara is my all time favorite - I have seen some nasty reviews out there, but for anyone with short, stubby lashes like mine, this will change your life. It takes some time to get used to the formula and brush since it is such a different shape, but if you work with it and look down while applying it gives me such volume and length and I love it! Plus it is affordable

Not my favorite formula

I love Maybelline products....However, something about this formula and brush was not for me. I usually use the Falsies or the Collosal formula. I like the brushes versus the comb-like wand in this product better. Let me also add that I have VERY VERY thin and short lashes. This may work for someone with long lashes or thick lashes, but if you're like me-maybe not so much. This doesn't mean that I won't try other Maybelline products, I just won't be using this particular formula and brush style for myself. I would still recommend this to someone to try if you have thicker lashes. What doesn't work for me may work for someone else. Xoxo-Jo

This is a completely different kind of mascara! I have very thin short invisible lashes. Everywhere I go now people compliment my eyes and this mascara is the only thing different than before! I admit that you have to work with it a bit to get used to this new kind of mascara. Definitely start with a really light touch! I tell my friends (all using it now) to start trying it when you don't have anywhere you need to be till you get used to it! Also have Qtips with water on hand to easily whipe away any that gets on your skin! You can get in one coat what used to take three! I still go for two and use an eyelash comb or my Clump Crusher brush from an old mascara tube I liked and cleaned and kept. I especially like how if I tap the flat end of this totally unique brush to the skin at the base of my lashes, it fills in a black line between the lashes and makes a really easy, really perfect, almost liquid eyeliner effect, but not harsh or unnatural or overly dramatic for day! Perfect every time, with the help of Ms. Wet Qtip if it gets out of hand :0) I do my shadow first (creamy) with my fingers, then the mascara, then pefefect the shadow with a little powder color (doesn't stick to this mascara) and I'm off with wow eyes! To get this look before I used to have to wear false Eyelashes and once or twice a year, I would... What a mess! I've purchased over 30 of these so far, because so many try it once, don't know how to work with it and leave a bad review that I'm nervous maybelline will dicontinue it! I need a lifetime supply! Try this product and play with it like you never tried mascara before and ifyou love it too, leave a great review! Oh, also,my lashes are getting super long now fromusing it, though you still can't see themwithout mascara!

I have used Maybelline mascara for years. Since the beginning when I first started to wear make-up, until present. Maybelline is my go to brand for my eyeliner and mascara needs. I purchased this product in waterproof black, in place of my normal Colossal Lash.(store was out of my usual product and I live in a very small rural town) Being a loyal Maybelline fan I never thought that purchaseing a diffrent product from this brand would be such a bad idea. After the first application I realised what a HUGE mistake I had made. MAJOR clumping, Major flaking, and even smudged throughout the day. It took me at least 30 minutes to seperate my lashes from the massive clumps they were in. My lashes looked terrible, but I made them somewhat presentable so that I could leave ... MoreI have used Maybelline mascara for years.
