I used this for the first time last night, and oh my word it was so easy. The instruction booklet is great, with well labelled diagrams that explain the pump fully. It was really easy to assemble, even with a migraine and exhaustion.I purchased the microwave bags alongside it, which I highly recommend.I was able to express my milk extremely easily, and I was happy with how it felt. I did find it a bit loud, but bubs didn't seem to mind as he was feeding on my other breast. The pause function came in very handy when I needed to reposition bubs.I do have very large breasts, which did mean that with only slight movement the shield move and I lost suction. So I don't think I am going to be able to walk around with the pump attached. Which doesn't overly bother, ... MoreI used this for the first time last night, and oh my word it was so easy. I find it quite useful to see this (can see with the Swing) to help guide if I massage the breast simultaneously.> The device keeps same setting after switching off for a short time. This may suit some people, but I don't like it - when I switch breasts I have to remember to change the settings otherwise the intensity remains high and will miss the stimulation needed for let down. Sudden high intensity feels painful to me if I forget (but it's fine if slowly built up!)Overall I am pleased with and would recommend this pump.

I think the SOLO is excellent. I’ve been a fan of Medela for years and used their pumps which breastfeeding two babies. The SOLO is a big step up from my last pump and all the little niggles about my old Medela have gone. This new pump is noticeably quieter. I can easily pump while watching TV and it doesn’t disturb you at all. It’s smaller and more portable. I’ve only had to charge it once so far and used it 4 times. Its very gentle on the breast (and more comfortable) and I did wonder if maybe it wouldn’t be as effective as it didn’t seem to have as much “suck” as my old one. I needn’t have worried as once the short sick sequence triggered the let down the longer slower sucks got much more milk than my old pump.I really like the new design. Love it!

I got this pump almost a year ago when my baby was born and couldn’t latch and I’ve been exclusively pumping ever since (a hands-free pumping bra is absolutely essential for any pump btw!)Overall this pump has been great - very simple to use, easy to wash and sterilise, comfortable, good suction strength. It helped increase and maintain my milk supply and ultimately has allowed me to feed my baby breastmilk without the need for any formula.HOWEVER - I am now on my THIRD one in the space of 11 months and it’s just died once again. The battery life is really poor and the same issue has happened each time - the light flashes red and the pump won’t work unless it’s plugged into the mains, despite being fully charged. It’s so frustrating as it’s otherwise a great little pump. Now this has happened three times I’ve had enough and I’m going to return it for a refund, and will buy a pump by a different brand. For the price I think it’s pretty appalling that this has happened - terrible value for money as it’s so expensive. Thank goodness for the one year warranty!
I knew I wanted to breastfeed and had no idea where to begin. The advisor at my all things baby appointment was super helpful and guided me this way! What a great product, easy to use and easy to clean! So easy my other half even cleans it for me! I have no comparison as I've never done this before but it has felt seamless. I get between 4-6oz in a morning pump which has helped me build up a good freezer stash ahead of returning to work, looking forward the pump is so portable I will be taking it to work with me. I use the flange to pour milk into the bags which seems to work well. I've purchased extra bottles and am using the plastic storage bags, a reusable option would be welcomed.
My little one is 17 weeks and has recently gone through a nursing strike on one breast - the pump has been super helpful to keep my supply up and stop my becoming engorged. It was very intuitive to put together and get started, and it didn't take too much longer to figure out the correct settings for my flow etc. It isn't the quietest pump on the market but it's brilliant for the price - I wouldn't fancy using it at work (I work in a school - it would be awkward enough to pump there as it is!) Baby boy was absolutely fascinated by this new milk-stealing device and had a good grin when I placed the remote control unit on his tummy. Baby boy was absolutely fascinated by this new milk-stealing device and had a good grin when I placed the remote control unit on his tummy. Compared to the silicone manual pump I bought before using this pump, I can definitely collect more milk in a shorter time frame (around 4oz in 15 minutes compared to 1.5-2oz in the same amount of time) so if you're looking to express to feed it's worth trying. As for the battery life, I started using it straight out of the box (after sterilizing the relevant pieces!) and I haven't yet charged it despite using it most days for at least 10 minutes for the past two weeks - a definite plus! The last thing you need is your pump running out of charge when you're busy. The 'Two Phase Expression technology' seems a little gimmicky - I get the same flow regardless of whether I use the quick phase for a long period or a short period. I also had to turn the strength up to the highest setting to get the milk flowing well - despite the fact that it's the fast flow that caused the nursing strike in the first place (lots of coughing and spluttering, poor boy!) Overall, I think it's a good product which does what you want it to do.
It was a great help at the beginning, since I was struggling with engorgement. However, there are many strong downsides to it - the greatest being that I've used it for a little more than a month and it's already lost its suctions power. But also, the bottles are made in a way that it's ridiculously easy to spill the content if not held upright (which is not always easy, given that they're used by overly tired women, who need to juggle with newborns and other stuff and use it during the day, but also at night). Finally, knowing that this is something that would be used for just a few months (unless it's been bought by a family planning many children to see it as an investment) and only for a certain period of time per child, the price felt a bit high even without ... MoreIt was a great help at the beginning, since I was struggling with engorgement. I was pleasantly surprised, just how easy it has been using this. Packaging is very pleasant colour with pictures of what is inside. Instructions are easy to follow, so is the assembly (there are very handy pictures). Cleaning can be done either by hand or in a dishwasher plus it has to be boiled to sterilise. Charging battery is easy (USB) with handy light to say once it's done. Light changes according to how much power there is left, which is handy. I was really impressed by how well it mimics actual breastfeeding with its very smart baby rhythm (two phase expression). It's very helpful that I was able to either leave it as it is, with phases being changed automatically or easily switch between stimulation phase and let down phase as needed. It's very helpful that I was able to either leave it as it is, with phases being changed automatically or easily switch between stimulation phase and let down phase as needed. Plus it's very helpful in case you have to pause expressing, machine automatically switches off after few minutes (no wasting of the battery, which is great). So when restarting it, I was able to switch straight to the phase I needed. Everybody's milk flow is different so having decrease and increase vacuum option is a bonus.Having exclusively breastfeed only, I was starting to get worried about the time going back to work getting closer. With so many options on the market, it's hard to know the best one out there. This is definitely the one I would recommend. It put my mind at peace knowing, when the time comes to go back to work, I will be still able to provide my little girl with my breast milk. Meanwhile I can gently ease her into combined breast and bottle feeding at my convenience.
This is my first time using a Medela breast pump and i am blown away! Let me start with the packaging, it is beautifully packed with lovely pictures and instructions on the inside. I opened it up and read the instructions and got to sterilising the pump and its parts as i couldn’t wait. The pump is easy to put together as it has minimum parts to it, which makes it easy to clean and sterilise. It is charged by usb and also has a plug included (which other pumps i have used in the past have not got). It came with a decent amount of battery already charged. I first tested the pump at night time, so wasnt not expecting much but i got about 2 oz in the session, in about 10-15 mins. The pump was quiet and the suction was very soft even at the highest setting. In my other pump i have used i cannot tolerate it past 4/5 speed and with this pump i can easily go above. I got more milk with the solo breastpump than using other non branded pumps and it was pleasant to use. The outer flange is comfortable and soft outer edge and shape makes it a comfortable grip when expressing. I like how it had a 2 phase expression technology which mimicks the ways baby breastfeed and the handset easily adjusts the speed. I love that the bottle you express into has a stand and a screw one lid, so any milk doesnt fall over. Overall, its a great pump and was highly recommend to spend the extra amount as it will make your expressing journey a little easier.
I highly recommend the solo breast pump, whether it's to increase supply, give flexibility in combined feeding or freezing the milk for another time it would suits most people needs. The pump has helped alot if I had become engorged or prevented me being engorged as this can happen from time to time. This pump has been a lifesaver in terms of helping me increase my supply and enabling me to pump effectively and successfully. It's really easy to use and follow. Being a single pump means you can only pump one breast at a time however this suites my needs as I was able to pump one side and feed on the other as I found it very easy to the pump at the same time as nursing with out any problems the pump is very quite compared to other pumps i have used.
