So much fun. My toddler really enjoyed getting this for Christmas. We all went “fishing” with him, and we even use it for his bath time! Just don’t use the worms for bath time, clearly, but this toy is definitely a win for the babies.

We absolutely love all of our Melissa and Doug toys and this is possibly our favorite one yet! Such a great toy for learning and creative play and there are so many ways to play with it! It is all contained in a cute little tackle box and the wooden fishing rods can be attached to the outside. It’s adorable!It comes with 6 wooden fish to catch, 2 fishing licenses, a wooden measuring stick, a bag of worms, and a double sided mat to fish off of! There is also a fishing guide with different games you can play. My children have spent hours playing with this toy. They absolutely love it and I love how high quality it is!

My son received this fishing set as a Christmas gift. It is very cute and seemed as durable as our many other Melissa and Doug toys. However, our dog, within minutes of opening the set, got a hold of one of the "wooden" fish pieces and completely destroyed it as it is more of a compressed cardboard material. If it had been made of wood as claimed in the product description and like most other Melissa and Doug toys, it would have been salvageable. So while it is a fun and cute toy, I just don't think it will hold up like other toys of the same brand and that leaves me disappointed.

It is fun but it was overpriced when I got it in store. I fell the price has gone down since. It is fun and we keep going back to it. I can imagine that this is a toy/game the we will return to often through many years. It is nice that it is self contained in a box for clean up but one of the latches broke. It still locks with one but it the other one breaks it will be harder to keep the contents in. All the other pieces are solid plastic and wood.
This is going to be a gift, so I did not take it out of the box and I cannot speak to longevity of the product, or the negative claims in other reviews. All I can say is that this looks really cute and my own kids would like to play with it, so I hope the 2 year old it's going to will like it too. The quality seems great, up to the high standards of other Melissa and Doug toys.
My kids 3, 7 and 9 love this fishing set. They have played with it every day since we received. The quality is amazing. The fish and poles are very detailed and look realistic. I got this for my youngest so she could fish when her big brothers were actually fishing but to my surprise all my kids love to use it. It comes fake worms and fishing licenses. My favorite part is the storage container holds all of it perfectly so you don't have to worry about losing the pieces.
My 2 year old is a little nature lover. So much, that she has no interest in toys and would rather have a bucket of sticks and rocks. When I saw this new Melissa & Doug line I was so excited! This toy has been a hit with her. She loves to hook the worms onto the rod and then go fishing. I love that the fishing guide shows all the different types of fish, and she has been able to learn which one she caught.
I gave this to my daughter for her 4th birthday and she had a huge smile that she could fish just like her grandpa. I am really impressed with the accuracy and detail in the fish. Like most Melissa and Doug many of the parts are wood: fish, ruler and most of the rods. Plastic parts are the tackle box, badge, worms and net. The licenses, environment and fishing guide are that bendable but sturdy plastic. The fish are painted beautifully.
3 stars because the line constantly comes loose from the rods. You have to string it back through and re-tie the knot, and then it’s usable again. It’s tedious and super annoying. Not the quality I am used to from Melissa and Doug. My child absolutely loves the toy though, I just wish it stayed together better. Everything else about it is great.
I bought this to go with the Melissa and Doug Play boat so that my little ones can go on their little adventures catching all different sorts or fishes on the way. I love how it comes with a set for 2 and the rods attach to the little tackle box. Everything is well made and perfect for imagine play. My kids love this and played with it for the whole day.
