I found the Keen NXIS hiking shoe to be a great, light and comfortable shoe. Solid support, good fit and good laces. The sole was plenty grippy for me. I've had them for a couple weeks, have used on multiple surfaces - though not on any rugged terrain yet. Felt great wearing them all day. Highly recommend.

Been wear size 9.5 Keen footwear for several years. Love the fit of Keens. These appear to be a little bulkier that the others. Lacking a snug fit in the toe area. Was disappointed until I added an additional inter-sole from an older retired pair of Keens. Ordered an additional new inter - sole for a more comfortable feel. They now feel like a perfect custom fit.

I did not have high expectations for this pair of shoes. But they exceeded expectations and I am quite surprised how comfortable they are in long hikes and walks. Lots of cushion and support. I walked in a variety of surfaces including concrete. Pleased to say they were comfortable on all the surfaces. Bonus, I had 3 ladies to tell me how good looking the shoes were. I was provided these shoes for testing and review.

I received these Keen shoes at the beginning of significant snow storms here just south of Glacier National Park. My walking was relegated to trails that were often used by others, as I really couldn't trudge through a foot of snow with these shoes. That said, these shoes are light weight and you can barely feel that you have them on. The grip in the packed snow was excellent. This is the first time I've worn Keen shoes. I generally wear a 9.5 or 10, depending on brand, so I went with a 10. The arch support was excellent, although I had a little too much room in the toe box area. I then wore heavier wool socks and that helped. I tried walking on ice without cleats, but as with most shoes, that really doesn't work. But on snow pack, the shoes were great. My feet stayed warm and I don't recall getting wet feet. If I could decide the size over again, I would go with the 9.5. In conclusion, I have a new shoe brand to explore and purchase. I appreciate the opportunity to wear Keen shoes.
I've been speed walking 2+ plus miles on paved trails in these every day since I got them last week. First time on I was struck by their lightness and the great cushioning they provide. I wear a US 11.5 dress shoe size, so I like to wear a fairly thick hiking sock with these which are size 12, giving a snug fit. The inner surface is quite smooth, so I've found these shoes work best with a sock having a dense, "grippy" fabric.
My first impression is this shoe runs big (in length). As a rule, Keens have a roomy toe box, and that’s true for the NXIS Speed. When you combine that with the fact that the NXIS Speed runs a half size bigger that all my running shoes and hiking shoes, it feels like you have acres of space in the shoe. Incredibly, the shoe is designed to lock your heal in place, so the toe room was never an issue when I hit the trails. I wore the NXIS for dog walks, trail runs, and park walks. There was no break-in needed. The shoe is light and nimble with great traction. My trail run was over ice, leaves, roots, and rocks. Performance was as good as my regular trail running shoes. These are not sturdy hikers, so you will feel the rocks.
Tried about a dozen pairs of trail runners before settling on these. They have a pretty generous toe-box that accommodates a wide foot well. Very light, snug fit for the most part. The quibbles are (1) the sole is not as grippy as I expected. It's a bit slippery on wet sidewalks and boardwalks. Living in the PNW, that's pretty much a constant. Also, the tread pattern seems specifically designed to track vast quantities of mud inside. Even when I didn't think I walked through dirt, the soles are dropping little crosses of dried mud behind me.
Keen Men's NXIS Speed Hiking Shoes are roomy and comfortable for hiking or everyday use. These shoes stay tied all day. I have worn many other hiking shoes and boots and got calluses and tired feet and had to keep retying the laces. Not so with these shoes. They are more spacious than other shoes' wide models. The soles really grip well on rocks, sand and wet surfaces so I never had insecure footing. I can wear these hiking shoes all day walking or driving without pain or discomfort. I usually add new insoles to hiking shoes that feel better. I didn't have to do that with these. The insole feels really supportive without being too stiff or too squishy. The shoes also look good. These shoes were used as an every day shoe for running errands as well as light gravel hiking. They were very comfortable and cushioned, but note they are true to size. I actually wear an 12.5 and these were 12s and fit snugly with my big toe barely rubbing so I would size up next time. I have very flat foot and the shoe was wide enough to accommodate my foot, and the arch support wasn't too high while still being supportive. All in all, its a great shoe.
I was looking for a wider comfortable shoe that is breathable and has a lot of support for standing and avoiding back pain. I originally tried the waterproof boot version of these and loved the comfort and foam support so much but they weren’t breathable at all. Then i found these that are the shoe version with no waterproof membrane and i’m so glad i did. They’re wide, comfortable, breathable, supportive and offer toe protection.
