The red wing boots is a great boots. However, I ran into difficulties with the uncomfortableness of certain areas with a cork on my balls of my feet. I tried on various pairs and they all felt different and better . I started with a size 10 and ended up with a size 9, during the trials of those varieties of pairs , some of the cork didn’t bother me at all in a few of the boots however in others it bothered me a lot. I tried 7 pairs from 2 different stores and found that a size 9 fit me best I don’t understand I would love to get a pair of redwing boots. I have to try a different store but I’m determined to get a pair because unfortunately I had to return the last ones because the left foot felt tight and the cork belt very hard on the ball of my foot Where as the ... MoreThe red wing boots is a great boots. I went on line and found other people complaining about the cork I would appreciate a response because I would love to get a pair of 8 inch Moc

I bought these boots about 4 years ago. I've had them resoled twice in the Time frame. Very comfortable after breaking in. I've bought premium boots from competitors since then that were double the price, which were definitely not worth it. Back to purchasing only red wings. The only boots that stand up to working 12+ hours for the Department of Transportation in rain, snow, asphalt, concrete, dirt, mud, etc. You won't regret your purchase.

The 877 is a high quality boot and meets all my expectations for Red Wing boots. I own the 1907 for casual wear, 2418 for real work, and the Irish Setter Elk Tacker 1000gram for hunting. Been wanting a pair of 877 for years and I am very pleased. Pliable leather yet durable, classic styling, and pretty much immediate comfort after breaking in the tongue in the fold over technique taught to me by the Red Wing, MN flagship store associate who helped me. Leather foot beds seem to already be forming to my foot. I wear them with a midweight Smartwool type sock. I plan to use the all natural boot oil on my 877's to keep them looking lighter in color and retain their factory finish. Highly recommend them if you can get your hands on your size. USA made in Minnesota!

This boot just arrived and I couldn't be happier. Like all well-built boots in this category there will be a break-in period, but I have to say that right out of the box, they were pretty good. I am a 10.5 sneaker, with a moderately high arch and normal width foot. I went 10D and that is where I need to be. The fit and finish of the boot is absolute quality. The leather and unique single piece heal construction drove my decision and WOW is it great looking. Love the support of the 8 inch for days in rougher terrain and for rolling pant legs to keep the wet grass from wicking up my pant legs in the morning. One thing that is a personal preference: I like the eyelets to the top, not speed hooks. One thing that is a personal preference: I like the eyelets to the top, not speed hooks. I can loosen the top around camp and not have the laces all fall off, I find eyelets more secure and I never have laces drop out like can happen with hooks, and finally, eyelets don't snag on things, collect long grass and weeds, or chafe the inside of my expensive foul-weather gear. I don't mind the tradeoff of an additional 60 seconds to tie my boots.
These Red Wing boots have been part of my life from the beginning. My dad and grandfather wore them on the farm and on hunting trips into the high country where we'd pack in for 10 days on horses. I had my own pair that lasted for 20 years with many resoles. Back then we had a choice of a more rugged black lugged sole in addition to the traditional tred sole and of course they had the speed hooks! Not sure why Red Wing got rid of the speed hooks for a boot like this. I think they're essential. Fortunately, they are cheap and easy to add. I just resoled my latest set using the old Beckman Vibram sole so I can get by wearing them to the office on casual days for a more refined look. Helps me to have two pairs so I have these newer ones with a more dressed up look in ... MoreThese Red Wing boots have been part of my life from the beginning. Helps me to have two pairs so I have these newer ones with a more dressed up look in addition to the classic Christy Vibram Traction Tred soles for the tough work and motorcycle riding and wrenching. Attaching a photo of how I do the speed hooks in the original way with the top eyelet left in place - you'll see the sole I put on these ones too. After two years of constant wear during COVID, they're extremely comfortable and have a nice patina going.
I bought these boots a month ago I use them to go out but the moment I put them on realized they were not even as close as comfortable compared to my other Irish Setter Wing-shooter boot. Theses heritage were a lot more expensive but right away felt all the stitching inside the boot rub against my foot and toes. I mean they can use some padding on the sides to cover leather stitchings. Another thing the insole has zero padding. Think of putting some dr sholls inserts to cushion my feet. The looks are great and all looks perfect outside but can definitely use more padding in the inside. When I put my Irish Setter wing shooters felt instant comfort and felt lkke walking on clouds. But these heritage are not even close. To much money but lacks cushion on inside. ... MoreI bought these boots a month ago I use them to go out but the moment I put them on realized they were not even as close as comfortable compared to my other Irish Setter Wing-shooter boot. This was the second pair of Red Wing boots I had purchased and it was definitely a different break in experience from my first pair. I was told the 877 would take some time to get comfortable in and it certainly lived up to that for me. My Gore-Tex Moc was extremely comfortable from the first day but it took a good week or so of significant wearing of the 877 to get to the point where it was not causing aches or blisters. (I made sure it was the proper size too which I know could be an additional source of pain for people.)However, now that the break in period is over I am extremely happy with this boot. I would caution to any first-time boot buyer that this might be a later purchase after experiencing a break-in period. I’ve been dreaming of having a brand new pair of 877’s for some time. I’ve always only been able to afford pre-owned Red Wings but I was finally able to pull the trigger this year. I had to wait for them to come back in stock but it was worth the wait.I wear a 10 in just about every shoe that I own, and I originally ordered a 9.5d and had some heel slippage so I ended up with a 9d and they’re perfect. Red Wing made it pretty easy to exchange, but I would recommend finding a store and figuring out your size if you don’t want to deal with shipping back and forth. Well worth the wait for me.With all of that being said..I still only gave 4 stars and that’s because to my eye, there is an imperfection in the welt stitching on my left boot toe. I would love to see Red Wing pay a little more attention to quality control. I noticed when I received them but just couldn’t wait to start wearing them and decided to let it go with the hopes that it wouldn’t cause any sole issues in the future.Highly recommended. I will wear Red Wings for the rest of my life!
I’ve had my pair for a year now, and I wear this boot almost every day. I have gone through almost every boot company. I thought the idea of a full leather boot (including the sole) sounded like what I needed. I have one flat foot and one with a small arch each boot molded perfectly. I like them so much I’ve been considering a second pair for wearing out of work. They have become my favorite foot wear.Like everything there are some down sides. The break in is tough, but is worth it. On really wet days or saturated environments they are not super water proof but I have boots for those days. Also not sure if it’s just the miles or the abusive out door construction but, I have had to have them resoled and will be doing again soon. They are a boot worth taking care of however so condition often and they will pay you back! Like I said though the boots have become second skin and nothing has compared.
The toe box on this boot is ridiculously narrow and tight on the Regular size boot. So, I purchased a size Wide. The toe box fit good in the wider width. However, after a couple weeks the boot felt too big everywhere else (ankles, heel, instep). These boots cost over $300. I traded them back on the 30 Day guarantee for a size Regular, but as previously mentioned, the toes are too tight. I tried stretching the toes, but they are still too tight. The construction and leather of the boot is very good quality, but the fit is not good.
