A full-length carbon fiber flyplate provides a stiff and propulsive feel. Nike ZoomX, our most responsive foam, just got a little better. Running from heel to toe, it unlocks even more energy return than before, giving you a springy, bouncy feel. See how the midsole bulges out by the heel? Specifically selected Flyknit yarns and engineered zones in the forefoot bring a new level of performance to the Vaporfly. Ample breathability around the toes combined with soft, yet supportive yarns deliver our most customized upper for the Vaporfly. The result is a softer, cooler design that conforms to your foot. An updated thin outsole rubber uses less material without sacrificing durability, which helps reduce outsole weight and thickness. This allows for extra millimeters of ZoomX foam underfoot and a smoother transition through your stride. Light padding on the tongue helps reduce lace pressure at the top of your foot. A new Waffle outsole pattern with perforations saves weight and delivers multi-surface traction in various weather conditions. Offset heel seam helps reduce friction in the heel area.

Aesthetically, these are good looking shoes. They look nice in pictures, but in better in hand. The version I got is predominately white with hits of grey and black, and it's very striking visually. While looks aren't the most important thing for performance shoes, I do think it is an important aspect for most, so it's good that these excel in that department. These are extremely lightweight shoes. I was definitely surprised by that when I got them in hand. At around 0.4 pounds, you will not feel them on your feet when you have them on which is exactly what you out of a running shoe. The upper consists of a very thin flyknit, which is both a pro and a con, and all the rest of the weight is in the mid/out sole.Speaking out the midsole, ZoomX is probably the most comfortable cushioning I've ever had in a shoe. The step-in comfort is immediate; the moment you put these on, you can tell this is something different. This is my first experience when wearing a shoe with ZoomX and I now know that I have been missing out.Running in these have been such a great experience. You bounce in these when running so every step springs for forward making the runs I had in them seem easier. I was nervous at first because I did have room calf fatigue the next day after going on my first run with them on, but I think that was just a issue with my training as subsequent runs left me with no issues.I haven't really gotten the chance to test these with a very fast pace as my runs are around a 8:30 pace per mile, so I look forward to seeing how these perform when I really start to increase my tempo and distance in the coming months.I'll end this some a more things I liked and some concerns I have about these long term. The cushion inside the heel of the upper leads to there being no heel slippage while wearing these and added comfort. The wide forefoot helps with the stability so you won't feel wobbly while running. I mentioned that the flyknit upper was both a pro and con; were it helps greatly reduce the weight, I'm worried about the durability of it. It also will not be good with in winter months as your feet will be cold when wearing these. I'm also concerned about the durability of the outsole as there's there isn't much rubber on the shoe so I can see the ZoomX wearing down quickly. I will have to keep an eye on this. The shoelaces becoming undone were also a bit of an issue for me. Single knots become undone all the time and you have to tie these very tight in order to double knot, leading me to worry about how uncomfortable my forefoot and ankle would be in them. It turned out to be not that much of a problem for me, but this is something to keep in mind.Overall these are a very good and I will be putting as many miles as I can in them. If they are in your budget, don't hesitate to pick them up.... Show more

This is a dedicated road running shoe, and it performs excellent in that area. I wouldn't really change anything about it for it's dedicated purpose, it does take just a bit of balancing to stand still and firm as the cushioning is designed to absorb impacts and roll forward with your stride. Definitely not a knock as it's not really intended to be an all day wear or gym work out shoe.Definitely stepping the game up in the higher end running shoes.... Show more

That being said the break in period is hardly noticeable, the shoes just cater more to your stride after just a bit of use. The laces are ribbed and hold together nicely, I have not had any problems with the lacing system which adjusts nicely. The tongue is interestingly shaped, take care to align it well before tying down the laces, as they will hold “until the cows come home”. These shoes are legitimately amazing and worth the price if you want some extra bounce on impact. The grip on the outsoles really grab the pavement and sidewalk and provide plenty of traction for the ZoomX Vaporfly Next %3. I highly recommend this innovative piece of Nike technology!... Show more

Good shoe with one notable defect that destroys durability
22 July 2024
These are great shoes…while they last. The cushioning a responsiveness are great for races and long training days. And the shoes lessen the pounding so that even with an artificial hip and knee I can still regularly turn in sub 4 marathons. But the durability is pretty horrendous. I’ve had several pairs, and on each one the rubber outsole on the heel has peeled off with only limited mileage, and then the underlying foam disintegrates so they are unwearable. I can sometimes get 100 miles out of a pair, but the most recent pair came apart only 15 miles into the first run in them. This is an unfortunate design defect in an otherwise great shoe and I really hope Nike fixes the heel outsole on its next release.... Show more

Great shoe, extremely fast and good energy return
17 June 2024
Bought these as a race shoe and have had a few practices in them. Unbelievable. On first feel, they are very firm and provide very little ankle support. You do feel like the rock you forward and propel you even when you are just walking around. On the run, they provide a massive energy return, springing you into a fast cadence with less effort. On same relative effort, I've found they improve my min/km by about 15 seconds. A genuine cheat code of a shoe.I'm an overpronator, so I'm still a bit concerned on the lack of support, but the shoe is so light that it's not going to provide you that support anyway. This is a racing shoe for going fast and it excels. Good grip on greasy surfaces and comfortable overall fit. I love how they feel, I love wearing them. I’m just concerned about the quality & durability overall.
7 July 2024
Here’s the Good and the Bad. On the good side, I just bought these about a month ago, finally got them and I loved them. They’re extremely light and very soft. However, my problem lies with the durability & lifetime of the product. For the price, you want the product to last you a decent amount of time especially for a running shoe. But I’m seeing bad signs 1 month in. I’ve ran maybe 20 miles in them over 1 month and there’s already tears and cracks in the sides of them like they’re peeling apart and it’s only been a month. This makes me concerned about how long they’ll really last me. I’ve previously had Vapormaxes and they’ve lasted me years with hardly any damages (until the air started escaping) but these are showing negative signs & damage 1 month in. Incredible shoe; but durability lacks
1 July 2024
This is an incredible shoe. It is easily one of the best racers in the market. Although this is my first carbon plated road racing shoe, I’ve tried on and strides in others, and I love it. I’ve raced everything from 1600 (track) up to half marathon, and have set some great times, as well as using them for speed and endurance workouts on track and road. (17:30 cross country 5K, 1:18:36 half marathon are my biggest in the shoe). The carbon plate and ZoomX foam are a great and springy combo, and has the softness and lightness to keep you fresh through longer distances. My only complaint is the utterly terrible durability. The Alphafly 3’s are a great shoe with even more pop from the plate coupled with the zoom pods, for an even faster and snappier ride, and are 10x more durable and stable at high speeds and through corners.Although the vapors are great, they are second to the Alphafly 3’s in my books, although slightly lighter and cheaper. If you can spend an extra $25, go with the alphas. But none the less, they are an incredible racer, better than any other besides the Alphafly.... Show more

Incredibly Light and Incredibly Springy Super-Shoes

These are super light, super springy, energy-returning, and performance-enhancing race shoes.Seasoned distance runners will have their well-formed opinions and preferences on race shoes but I will speak from the perspective of runners who are new to the super shoes. They are so light that you hardly feel any weight, as if your feet are just sitting on top of cushions. They keep you on your toes literally so that might be an adjustment for many runners. The Vaporfly may not be the best for runners who need a lot of stability support due their pronation. The large amount of cushioning and lightweight upper really lower the bar for stability. I am used to very supportive shoes and I could definitely feel the difference on longer runs. I would prefer a more secure lock around the heel. And as mentioned before, you may have to make foot-strike adjustments since these are prone to keep you on your toes. I would definitely recommend lacing as tight as possible.I can't wait to use these in a race one day. These are not long term training shoes since the lightness undermines durability but that is intended. I will continue to train in my more supportive, everyday runners and break these out on event day.... Show more

The upper is extremely light but also super solid--never any risk of anything tearing or falling out of place. I love the ridged laces but found that using the extra eyelet made them even more secure for me.And the actual running experience is incredible--these shoes are incredibly bouncy without being imposing. They let you run light and free while giving you propulsion when you need it. I think my form actually improved and I landed a bit more forward on my foot while racing in them. Would highly recommend for anyone running a mile race, a 5k, 10k, or a half. Review of Nike | Men's Vaporfly 3 Road Racing Shoes - Volt

I have had two pairs of the previous model Nike% 2. The first I loved and we're good for a surpring 400km. The second had issue with the right foot toe box that lead me to searching for new runners earlier than planned. The Next% 3 has a bit of a make over, but subtle. Slight different sole shape at the back and a wider toe box. I was concerned this would exagerate my previous problem but the was not the case. Very comfortable, with wiggle room and no danger of crushing my toes during long runs.Nothing like a real world trial, the following morning I popped them on for a 10km training run. Despite my mind telling me to slow down, the spring in these propelled me to an unexpected PB. Mad for performance outside an event.I'm not a record breaker, don't get me wrong, ... MoreI have had two pairs of the previous model Nike% 2. The first I loved and we're good for a surpring 400km.
