The best value automatic diver from a historical heritage brand at the budget price point. I have swapped the strap for a softer rubber tropic strap and it wears incredibly comfortable. I used to wear Omega Planet Ocean and it's crown was digging in to my wrist - there is no such problem with this Citizen's crown. The watch also is 20 times cheaper than Omega:) The movement in these watches is now Miyota 8204 instead of 8203 as before - so it's hacking and handwinding and mine is running at +5 to +10 seconds a day which is great. I highly recommend this certified diver which was also used by Italian navy. This Citizen has proved itself as a reliable workhorse so it hasn't really changed since 1997 and the movement since 1977.

Citizen Mens Promaster offers a less expensive but equally dive rated watch to Seiko SKS line. The dial is roughly the same size as the SKS009. Is rated at 200meters with a screw down crown. The model shown offers winding both hand and automatic and second hand hacking. The movement is made in Japan. Looks nice works great.

This watch is a direct competitor for the Seiko SKX007 but as well as keeping better time it is also possible to wind this watch up by hand. You cannot hand wind the Seiko. The band is of a good quality and is easily replaceable since it is a standard 20mm width, should you wish to. The watch has good lume on the markers, with the hands a slightly different hue than the markers. It's easily readable even after hours. The bezel is extremely easy to manipulate with wet, slippery hands, miles better than the Seiko SKX. Bezel has 60 clicks, and is very positive. I have several Seiko and Seiko-esque dive watches, but yet to own a Citizen before now. Wears smaller than a comparable SKX, and with only 20mm lugs. Having said that, it's a very unique dial, so I couldn't pass it up. I like the black day/date entry. The lume doesn't last as long as you might think, given it's appearance, but most watches have the same problem. Not a deal breaker for me. But a great watch at a great price and welcome in my humble collection.
This is one awesome watch! As much as I love my SKX's, I have to say that this Citizen NY0040-41E is a much better quality watch! The qc is really good without the misalignments like Seikos. The power reserve is better. It handwinds. The positional variants are tighter than Seiko's. There is just better quality in the Citizen over a Seiko! The rubber strap is better than the SKX too, but it's still not the most comfortable band though. All in all I love this watch. I highly recommend this watch to anyone whom is thinking about getting one of these. You should be happy with it if you do.

It looks and feels like a strong well built watch with unique looks and oozes charm with a hint of the 90s. Lume: excellent and plenty applied. Very nice to operate although it's a bit tricky getting the feel for when the screw down crown has caught the threads. The bezel has slight play but this is not a big deal. One thing that caught me by surprise was the strap. I wasn't expecting much and I was going to change it but I love it! Great little diver. As well reviewed by first reviewer, great match for imperious Seiko SKX007. I love the style & minor differences to SKX - crown on left, day/date surround illuminated, more flashes of red on face, slightly less thick, &, killer applied indices raised in silver. Also, interesting history, as Italian navy's chosen timepiece; cf. Omega 'Moonwatch'. Add to this 200m water resistance, & visual parallel/ appeal of SKX, but at a fraction of the price, & you've a stunner. Lume, as watch, great.
