Unfortunately these shoes are a major step down from the original alpine sneakers. Not sure why they needed to try and fix some thing that was not broken, but these shoes do not hit the mark. There is no tongue, instead there's a stretchy cuff around the ankle. It is oddly tight, and uncomfortable. It cannot be adjusted to fit people with different angles.The toebox has a breathable mesh on top, which is nice, but right behind that as you go up the foot there is a hard line where the suede kicks in, and this cuts into the toes immediately.I'm so disappointed that they have gotten rid of the Alpine sneakers. I own 12 pairs and they were absolutely my favorite shoe ever. You guys just needed to make more new colors, you did not need to redesign the shoe.

I like these recraft of the Alpine. I purchased them as a casual shoe for everyday wear. They are so comfortable, I've found myself taking longer walks in them. They aren't a slip-on shoe, but easy to pull on and off for the most part. They are also fun. I've purchased two pair of these in different color combinations. I look forward to wearing them this summer. I had some previous versions of the Alpine sneaker and didn't find they held up well. So far, so good with these and they're roomier than previous versions, which I think will help with keeping them in good shape with repeated use.

I bought these as an everyday, casual shoe and I love them! I needed a shoe that was comfortable to wear all day at work and something cute and casual to wear when going out places. I am a size 8.5, and initially ordered that size. When I got them, they felt a little too tight and a little too small. The tongue of the shoe is attached to the upper part of the shoe, so this may be why. So, I ordered a half-size bigger and got a 9. Now they fit great! I'd recommend ordering a half-size bigger. They do take a couple of wears to break in. But after wearing them out and about a few times, they are SO comfortable ... and cute! I always get asked where they are from when wearing them. I recommend this shoe to anyone looking for something a little fun and different!

These new Alpines are complete garbage. I wish they would re-introduce the original Alpine sneakers that were run from 2020 to 2023.These new “recraft” sneakers Have already started to completely fall apart me, and I’ve only owned them for a few months. I only wear them around the house and in the soft grass outside to do some chores. The stitching is coming undone in multiple places, and there is delaminating happening between the sole and body of the shoes.The original Alpine sneaker design was much better, these are not only a worse design, but they have very poor quality control. Don’t buy these if you want issue that’s going to last you more than a month.

First, the tips of the shoes were way pointier than I expected and the website pics didn’t show that. I typically go for more squared off or flatter ends due to my foot size being 13. Pointy shoes make my feet look too long. Also, the pull-on loop at the heel could be a bit larger as I like to slip on shoes rather than tie them every time. They were also more comfortable than I expected and I really like the style. Bottom line for me: these were a great purchase and I’m very happy with them. Just hope I can get the stains out!
I have never been able to wear the Alpine sneaker because the forefoot area pinched against my pinky toe, even though I do not have wide feet. After seeing the website video for these, I decided to give them a try. This version of the Alpine definitely has more room up front, which is great! However, I do believe these might run a bit long and they have more "volume" in general. If I wore a medium hiking sock, these would fit well, however, I do not plan to wear them this way.l I ordered my normal size of 9 and I am going to try the 8.5. It will be interesting to see if the 8.5 is a "perfect" fit. Otherwise, very comfortable shoe and sharp looking!

This sneaker actually has more of a built in "sock" which makes it hard to just slip on and off, as I like to do. My modus operandi: leave the laces a little loose - slip the sneaker on and get out the door.On the plus side, once you work your foot into the "sock" the shoe is very comfortable, but I would not buy this again. It is too hard to put on for a casual walk to the mailbox.NOTE: We have had Merrell sneakers with "attached tongues" before and could simply cut the fabric to loosen the tongue. You can not easily do that with this particular shoe.PS I wish all colors came in wide. So here is a real review.These shoes are definitely worth a 100The design and the new pop step in is great as well.Love the new olive colors great arch support.Same materials as the old design. I think the ppl are ready to pay 150-200 for a more durable design but then again they have shoes for that very reason.These are sneakers and should be treated as such!Love the recraft Merrell keep up the designs if you want to make them a bit more durable we will pay more for that for now I love that there lightweight sneakers and will enjoy them for 2-3 years. I order these new ones gray hoping it would look good in person and the colors are weird and don't look like photos so I returned them. The leather heel part should be gray and the sole shouldn't be a weird green. The 4 color options are weird for men and look cheap. Whoever made these changes should be fired. Right when the alpine style shoe takes off you cut colors and come out with a weird new design. I don't think I've ever seen a company be run into ground quicker than this. Go to any college campus right now and the old style is in. Completely clueless leadership. I bought this shoe because I thought it would be a comfortable shoe. I have many different styles of Terrell's, and I love them all. This one, however, is being returned. I can't get it on! Granted, I am disabled, but the the inability to get a Merrell shoe on my foot has never been an issue. First, the description says the tongue is "gusseted." It is not! There simply is no tongue. The top of the shoe is just one piece, and because it rises high the foot, you have to be a gymnast to get it on. There is no slipping it on because the opening is waaaaaay too small for a shoe with no tongue. Merrell, please rethink your description. Gusset is used improperly in your description!
