Comfortable shoe that handles outdoor challenges

Purchased for a backpacking trip to Isle Royale. No break in period needed but did wear for a couple weeks before the trip. Hiked about 100 miles in 7 days. Rainy and swampy conditions for a couple days. Shoes kept feet dry, when they got really wet one day they dried out very quickly. Great grip on rugged sometimes wet rocky terrain, never lost grip/footing. Thanks for making a reliable product to uphold through the elements!

Comfortable, good fit, coping most slopes so far

Bought these recently and immediately sprained the heck out of my ankle. I was lucky that some kind women saw me fall and lent me a pole so I could hobble back to my car. These are not for any sort of terrain that isn't completely flat. They are unstable and wobbly. Prone to rolling to outside edge of your foot. I wouldn't dare try to run in them. I fell on rock steps, flat dry rock steps. Not at all technical terrain. I'm an avid hiker I've traversed more technical terrain in 25 dollar amazon running shoes. Do not buy these. You can tell from the the sole that they don't have enough material to keep you stable, the bottom is also overly round. In comparison to a pair of wide new balance of the same size and a pair of water sandals from teva, you can see how narrow ... MoreBought these recently and immediately sprained the heck out of my ankle. Hate these, terrible return policy
23 March 2024

I bought these looking for a more neutral colored GTX trail shoe to go along with my wardrobe since Hoka’s mainly only come in very bright colors. Firstly, the sizing was weird. My non-GTX Hoka’s are a 7 and my GTX ones are a 7.5. I originally purchased these as a 7.5 and had to exchange for an 8. Whatever, annoying, but not a huge deal. The 8 seemed to fit well and I decided to keep them. I wore them on my treadmill mainly to make sure I wouldn’t have any rubbing issues, and ended up realizing something was still wrong and I had pain in my left arch. There was also a popping sound from the rubber flexing in the toe box because of the odd construction. Can’t return them them though because Merrel won’t allow returns on lightly worn shoes. Insole no longer removable
24 February 2024

This is my second pair of Antora. I wore the first pair out because they were so comfortable, WITH the orthotic insoles with which I replaced the ones that came with the shoes. I have plantar fasciitis and so need additional support. I’ve always loved Merrell because they have great cushioning and had removable insoles. I was so disappointed to see the new pair’s insoles were glued in place in the fore foot. I had to scrape them out with a butter knife, and it still took some of the footbed with it. Why add this totally unnecessary step!? Makes me rethink all future purchases.

Insoles glued down; design flaw.
24 August 2023

I bought these shoes after having happily worn 4 pairs earlier Antora Wide Gore-Tex model shoes. These arrived with the insole glued down, impossible to remove and insert my own orthotics. Another customer wrote about the same problem. I called customer service and was told that ALL pairs of this particular model are made this way, and to just remove the glue myself. Not possible without leaving behind residue and a bumpy surface that's totally unacceptable. And why should customers have to correct an obvious flaw created by poor quality control? I am so disappointed after years of excellent Merrell quality, fit and customer service. Nice people, terrible construction. At these (or any) price, I expect and need correct fit and reliable quality.

Loved Antora 2. What did you do to the soles on 3
26 August 2024

I bought these about 3 mos ago. I wear them for dog walking and to alternate with sandals during the summer. I have several pairs of Antora 2 shoes and numerous moabs. The first time I wore these, I slipped and fell in wet grass on a sloping, not steep, lawn. Now, some of the treads are completely worn off. Is this really a vibram sole? I like the botanical print, but these shoes seem defective. I don't feel safe wearing them.

Perfect!
23 March 2024

I was looking for his shoe to bring to the Scottish highlands with me on my next vacation. This was the third one that I had tried. I do have some issues with my feet. I have a high arch and the white foot and I can’t wear anything that’s too tight on the top so the third time was the charm that she was lightweight. Very comfortable and has a good grip and it’s waterproof. Merrell it’s always my go to shoe. There’s always at least one or two with three pairs in my closet.

When Merrell says weatherproof, it means it!
28 November 2023

I bought this shoe in-store a year ago, and despite the many miles I've put on it, it continues to be as durable and (most important) waterproof as it was the day I bought it. I just wore it going through flooded, muddy path. Everyone I was with came out with soaking wet feet. My shoes were covered with thick mud, but my feet were dry. They're comfortable on the trails for hiking and running, they keep my feet warm, and they're a nice layer of protection when out in the rain. Merrell's waterproof sneakers continue to be excellent.

Why are they impossible to RUN in?
13 July 2024

I bought these on sale in a weird color to replace my worn out Antora 2 rainbows. Call me crazy, but if I buy a TRAIL RUNNING shoe, for the purpose of RUNNING on uneven terrain, I think it’s reasonable to expect to be able to RUN in that shoe. I’m not the most avid runner, but my dog is! So I’ve run at least a little every day since I got him, until I put these on! I can’t run in them! They throw my balance way off, I can’t even walk at a brisk pace in them! I’ve noticed most of the positive reviews are from people who are walking on flat surfaces. After wearing Merrell trail runners for the past 5 years going through a pair a year, I’m baffled and practically upset at how completely useless these are! Were these designed by squirrels trying to evade people who run ... MoreI bought these on sale in a weird color to replace my worn out Antora 2 rainbows.
