I bought 2 different pairs of this shoe this summer. I was so excited to order the botanist print and ordered in my usual size 10, though it is suggested here to order a half size down. I wore them immediately upon arrival on walks around my village and realized they were definitely too big. Unable to return them at that point I passed them along to my daughter, a flower farmer with a larger foot than mine, and reordered the Antora in the cheetah print (botanist was sold out) this time in a size down, 9 1/2. Well people, they are too small! And having again immediately worn these outdoors I’m stuck. It’s a bummer, because after 2 pairs, I still need a new pair of Merrells! Top comfort and arch support—not overly cushy but supportive. Shoe is shaped like your foot—great toe box. I’ve worn and worked in Merrell shoes for almost 20 years. I’ve strayed now any again to wear the on trend athletic shoes, but always come back to Merrell. This would have been my second pair of Antora. After 3 years with hiking trips in Alaska and the Ozarks, the outside still looked great but the inside finally wore out. I did send this particular shoe back in preferences of an all over beige color Antora, but still 5 stars for comfort and quality. I did also need to size up from 6 to 6.5, but I always size up 0.5 in athletic and trail shoes to allow for swelling when on my feet.

I bought these shoes for a two-week trip where I'd be doing 5-10 miles walking each day, in cities and on trails. They did the job well! The front of the mesh has a soft guard that's useful when walking in damp areas. I used the elastic strap on top when biking to keep the laces down. The sole provided good traction hiking in some light rain and rocky areas, and did not seem to wear down. I do recommend a break-in period, I wore them for about a week before travel, as compared to my Merrell hiking boots that didn't require any.I was deciding between these and the Speed Eco and Bravada 2 (as well as some other trail runners from other companies). Ultimately these were just the most comfortable for me of the three, but the other two seemed good as well. Disappointed in this sneaker
10 December 2023

I purchased these sneakers for everyday use. I always buy merrill but this time I was disappointed. When I first put them on I felt like the left foot was leaning in to the instep. I adjusted the laces a little and off I went. When I got home from my 3 mile walk in my neighborhood my left call was sore and the whole walk I felt like the arch support was lacking. I wore them a few times for running to the store they were ok. I foolishly wore them for an all day walk around the city. Needless to say both feet and calf’s are sore, mostly the heel and outer foot. I will keep them to wear for short trips but will return to my hikers for longer walks and continue to look for a good everyday walking sneaker.

Durable!
13 September 2024

My previous purchase of merrells started falling apart after about 6 months, and made an exchange for these. They are unbelievably comfortable, have great grib, and have a plastic coasting around the toe so it can't wear down the fabric easily. That said, I highly reccomend these, after I recently dropped a ~100lb pallet on my foot (resulted in breaking my toe), the shoe itself if fine. Zero damage. So while these may not be steel toe shoes, they're definitely durable! The only reason I didn't give a 5-star rating is that while they are super comfortable and durable, the cushioning in the heel I find does go pretty fast.

Exceeded expectations
7 April 2024

I ordered at least a dozen different trail and hiking shoes across different brands before settling on the Antora 3. Without time to break them in before leaving on my trip, I hoped they would not ruin my feet and my hiking plans. I also brought a pair of Hoka trail shoes just in case. I started with the Hokas in Sedona and the Grand Canyon. They were great to start but by the end of the day, they felt a little tight. I moved on to the Antoras and never went back. Hiked several trails in Arches, Canyonlands, Corona Arch in Moab, Bryce, and Zion. No breaking in required. So comfortable on my bunioned feet. Held their ground on all different types of terrain. I didn’t hike in any wet conditions so can’t comment on that. Great if you don’t want to walk in them
21 February 2024

I’ve had many ultra comfy, long lasting Merrell’s over my life, but that trend seems to have stopped with these shoes. They are super cute and have nice quality uppers, hence the two stars. They were comfy and cushioned in my test walk around the house. However every single time I walk more than one mile in them I regret having worn them. They cause pain in my arches, toes, and outer edge of my foot. They cause my ankle to rotate inward in a weird way when I step. They are unwearable at this point (2 months after purchase). I’ve never had this experience with any shoes, Merrell or other. The worst part is that Merrell takes no accountability for their change in quality and will only offer a discount on a new pair of shoes. No thanks.

Huge disappointment
18 June 2023

I previously owned two pairs of Antora 2. SO comfortable! They were the perfect walking shoe except that they wore out in the pinkie toe area. In fact that area wore out before the soles did. The soles held up unbelievable well; better than any shoe I have ever owned. When I got the newest version, Antora 3, I was happy to see that the toe area of the shoe had been improved but noticed that the soles now looked different. Two areas of disappointment:1) The insoles were removeable in the Antora 2, but in the Antora 3 they are glued down in the toe area. While I did manage to get them out, it tore up the original insole and left a sticky residue. What a mess. I need to be able to use my own inserts.2) The new soles have not held up. SO disappointing. I thought I had found the perfect walking shoe but this ruined it for me. I have one pair of my Antora 2 that I still wear. They are a year old and show almost no wearing away of the sole. However my Antora 3 pair, which are not even 4 months old, are worn down in several spots. And when I say worn down, I mean WORN DOWN! The tread is almost completely gone in a few spots. So I guess the search for a long-lasting shoe begins again. Such a shame. I'd take the old Antora 2 with the toes wearing out before I would take another pair of the Antora 3 with the soles lasting 3 months at best.

Size down if you liked previous models
30 August 2024

I have had several pairs of Antora 2's and swore by them, they are some of the best sneakers I've ever worn and have great arch support (I have plantar fasciitis). I am so super bummed with the 3's because I had already worn them several times after I thought I was going crazy that they could fit so differently, they are definitely bigger than the 2's, so much so that bc it's now too late to return them, they are collecting dust bc they don't fit my overall foot and arch in the right places and hurt my feet. Only after it was clear to me that they didn't fit the same, they started noting on the site that "This item runs large, size 1/2 down." So now I'm out 90 bucks and reluctant to order another pair. Give them a shot as long as you heed the warning to size 1/2 down.

not as great as hoped
12 August 2024

I bought a few pairs of the antora 3's in different sizes and colors. I am either a 9 or 9.5 so I wanted to buy both to compare. It is so weird how the 9 in the antora 3 is the same exact size as the 9.5 in the antora 2, but yet the antora 3 size 9 are tight in the toes. the 9.5 are noticeably larger than the 9.5 of the antora 2 (added a picture for reference).Another issue I am having is the antora 3 do not have a removable insole. However, one of the colors I bought did, the other two did not. I am debating on whether to bring them to a shoe store to professionally remove or to return and hope the antora 4 makes this change.
