The only boots I get for many years. There is not a doubt the quality is going down. The waterproofing barely last, The stitching around the toes will give within 6 months.Put it in perspective. They will not make it a few hundred miles worth of steps. Merrell that's kinda Opposite of what you become. The only reason three stars are given is because they are comfortable, some of most comfort found in a boot style. And yeah, pair like 15 knowing they're not lasting 6 months has gotten old, I now feel like I'm wasting money and searching for a new workbook. This might be the last pair purchased.

I see some of the reviews dogging this boot, however I put mine through a lot and they are absolutely my favorite work/play boots I've ever owned. They are a little warm, hence the 4 star rating, but the comfort/support is all there. I was walking 10,000+ steps a day with these suckers, and they are still going after nearly a year. Great boot and great quality. They did stink, some of that was from my socks. Nothing a little powder can't fix. I will be buying another pair, and I will recommend to anyone.

I went through 2 of these. The first on the PLASTIC eyelet broke off just while lacing them. The second pair had a defective (plastic) zipper. Obviously poor quality (too much plastic). It is unfortunate, because they were really comfortable, and I have a hard time finding shoes that fit me right. I exchanged them first because I really liked the comfort, but I opted for a refund because I got 2 defective products in a row. (The only reason I rated 2 stars was because of the confort.) Hopefully Merrill will make something similar in the future with better quality.

Comfortable, lightweight and great traction. If the build quality was stronger they would easily be the best non-steel toe footwear I've ever worn. It pains me with every cell in my body to admit that even with regular outdoor/light use, they all fall apart. Keep in mind, I use different boots for mud or wet terrain, but even the morning dew on the grass (even using a boot dryer daily) is just too much for the material to handle repeatedly.Stitches in the toe box break and fray, the soles start to detach and they usually meet their demise with my pinky toe jutting from the side of the boot (regardless of size, I tried several). I get a good couple months out of every pair and return every spring to a Merrell retailer to begin the somber process again.I talk about ... MoreComfortable, lightweight and great traction. I get a good couple months out of every pair and return every spring to a Merrell retailer to begin the somber process again.I talk about these boots all the time to everyone around me. In an industry where everybody wears hot, unbreathable leather steel toes that destroy your feet, Its hard not to feel like a pioneer with my merrells. Unfortunately, I have to stop short of reccomending them because I know it's a money pit and by June they will have wet socks.Although a buddy of mine also endures this agony, I know we are echoes at the feet of this towering company. If there could be one simple hour long meeting about build quality with someone who really wears these boots; someone who depends on them for adventures and occupation. I know there could be progress.Using different glue on the soles, improving the stitching and more rigorous testing would make this boot leaps and bounds ahead of the industry. This will, contrary to any billionaires belief, bring even MORE people back to buy their quality product. The hard working men and women around me really do see and care about quality and taking $150 out of their pay twice a year for a boot that doesn't last goes against the things we all believe in. I digress.TL;DR - incredible boots while they last, but severely lacking in the build quality to endure any reasonable amount of time. I both do, and don't, recommend these great boots.
Purchased my first pair about two years ago, my job is very hard on boots, I have worn Keens for almost fifteen years before, almost thought I would never wear any other boot again. I understand things happen in manufacturing materials, sadly my last pair before purchasing Merrells fell apart on the job, I actually called Keen gave me some excuse, wouldn’t redeem. So the story goes I tried Merrells and loved them, hands down most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I actually saved up and purchased high tops and low for everyday. I actually can’t stand anything else on my feet. Until manufacturing or Merrells lets me down, I will keep on wearing and enjoying the most comfortable shoes, with my rebates and discounts. 120 , and 139 , I just don’t like anything else on ... MorePurchased my first pair about two years ago, my job is very hard on boots, I have worn Keens for almost fifteen years before, almost thought I would never wear any other boot again. Would recommend to anyone, until Merrell has something negative going to keep on giving good honest reviews. Five years with Merrelll. My picture, 3 years with two little wholes still very comfortable as the day purchased, not so water proof but what would anyone expect after year 11/2
This is no MOAB 2, I am severely disappointed, I have only had these boots for enough time where I haven’t even put on 200 miles, the outsole is coming undone, the laces have already torn and needed replaced, and they are NOT waterproof because of the mesh. I Work as patrol and have to do 22 miles on foot in 7 hours time, which means I do not have time to mend my feet and require actual waterproof boots, I ended up getting frostbite on my toes because of Merrell using their previous track record of the legendary Moab 2, this situation has caught me at a horrible time, as I still have 40 hours of work left, so the question becomes, how bad will the frostbite get? When a company lies and deceives it’s users? My previous MOAB 2 boots have well over 4,300 miles on ... MoreThis is no MOAB 2, I am severely disappointed, I have only had these boots for enough time where I haven’t even put on 200 miles, the outsole is coming undone, the laces have already torn and needed replaced, and they are NOT waterproof because of the mesh. I bought this item brand new about two months ago. I left a review on Amazon but didn’t get a chance to make it over here. I love the design, color, and grip. That being said these boots are not rugged or waterproof. They leaked day one in light right. Soaked feet in a small puddle. I always purchase MOAB boots and unfortunately these are the worst. I do not recommend these boots and feel as though I have wasted my money. Thanks.
Bought a pair of Moab 3's in November 2023 and after about 3 months I noticed the soles were already coming apart. I contacted Merrell and they sent me a new pair and told me to keep the faulty ones. One month after receiving a replacement pair, these are doing the same thing! I don't walk a foot beat or get into many foot chases so it's not like these are prematurely wearing out. Another buddy of mine had the zipper and eyelet break on his. Very disappointed in the lack of quality of the Moab 3's. Merrell has lost me as a customer.
Have now gone through 5 pairs of these in a little over 2 years. Have to admit the best, most comfortable boots I’ve ever bought but the quality compared to other Merrell products is horrible. Materials used breaks down quick and boots fall apart and start looking like you’ve owned them and worn them for 10 years of hard abuse. Merrell customer service when I contacted them pretty much gave me the run around and blew me off. You can see horrendously bad reviews on these boots on other web sites that sell these boots. Love all my other Merrell hiking boots but because Merrell’s customer service I would not ever again buy any of their products. You would think with all the bad reviews out there Merrell would step up, make improvements to these boots so they were at ... MoreHave now gone through 5 pairs of these in a little over 2 years. Over a year and a half and had the tactical Moab 2 6in. Before that….plus the 2nd or third chameleons before that and the original chameleon before that. All except the 2nd pai of chameleon lasted 1.5 yrs about.I run through shoes working physically demanding jobs outside with no cover usually. Climbing, running lifting. On top of that I mountain bike, hime, run, BMX. Most of those yrs i could only afford one pair of shoes at this price too!I dont know many ppl who actually wear normal shoes out in 6 months or less.So i say all these bad reviews are unfounded and from prissy ppl who think you should be able to SWIM in these shoes and keep you feet dry and or that it only takes an hour of walking once a day for a week to break in quality boots or cant put on ... MoreOver a year and a half and had the tactical Moab 2 6in.
