I always wanted to love my Moab 2’s. They had great support, arch support, just enough cushioning and were comfy. The only problem (which was a big one) is that they were too wide for my narrow feet, and I could never get my heels locked down, even when lacing them to do so. I had the same problem with the Moab Speed and Moab Flight. The other models (Siren Edge, Antora 2, and Agility Peak) fit better but weren’t supportive enough.I decided to try the Moab 3 and I love these. They are just as supportive and comfortable as the Moab 2’s but despite them being a little wide for me feet I am able to tighten them enough so they don’t feel loose (I couldn’t do that with the Moab 2’s). Also the heels fit better in these. I’m finally happy.

I have been wearing Merrells exclusively for YEARS, and this is my second pair of Moabs. I purchased this pair in May, and now in August after just a few months of wear the sole is coming lose from the shoe! I have never had this happen to any of my Merrells before, and I am incredibly disappointed. I also no longer have the paperwork that came with the order, so I am unable to return the product. I'm sad because Merrell has always been a fantastic brand that works really well for me, but this has me second guessing a replacement. It's a fantastic shoe, otherwise.

I tried these on in the store first and they felt fine. I purchased them online and have very regrettably found out that these shoes are poorly designed. The insoles are worthless. They provide zero cushioning and the absolute minimum of support. I endured pain (that I've never felt before in my life) in three different points on my foot. I attempted my favorite Oboz insoles which removed two of the pain points, but the bottom of the heel pain remained and the heel slippage that already existed got worse (which is just a blister in the making). So then I tried my other favorite Superfeet insoles (the berry colored ones) because the cup of their heels are more form fitting. It helped decrease the heel slippage but the heel pain increased tremendously, and I was left ... MoreI tried these on in the store first and they felt fine. When I tried these on in the store they felt fine, but after my first three miles I realized what a mistake I had made. I should have just returned them then.Merrell: make a narrower heel and/or provide a heel lock as well as more cushioning/support. The somewhat roomy toebox in the "wide" version is nice, but these are a fail overall.

I have been a MOAB fan for a very long time, owning at least eight pair over the years both Ventilator and Waterproof. I use them for walking and hiking primarily and love the stability they offer. However the insoles offer very little cushioning. Having chronic foot and lower back issues this is a problem for me.So I was excited to see the latest version and description of the new MOAB 3! This new “3” has a little more arch support along with more roll in the toe and heal… all good improvements. I gave this shoe 4 stars because I’m disappointed in the insole. I was expecting more cushioning and support in the heal and toe box which remain uncomfortably hard. There is a little pad built into the heal but not effective. So I’ll need to purchase expensive insoles. I ... MoreI have been a MOAB fan for a very long time, owning at least eight pair over the years both Ventilator and Waterproof. These are pretty nice shoes, but I noticed threads coming loose and the mesh material fraying after only a handful of wears. Hopefully it does not become a structural issue and only affects the appearance. Also I feel that the placement of the top lace doesn't allow for adjusting the opening quite as securely as I would like. Perhaps it's because I have a wider forefoot and regular ankle/heel size (the most common foot anatomy) but this shoe is just designed for a wide foot all along. Wide width wasn't available in any stores so I had to order online otherwise I might not have purchased them.
I am new to Morrell and have tried many models and sizes. The sizing is not consistent anda each pair needs to be checked for fit. I got these in 6.5 and the Mids in 7. Both fit with these being bigger overall even though they are the smaller size. They are comfortable except for the tongue pushing on top of my foot. There is a thick flap where the tongue is attached. I tried lacing different ways to flatten it but it's bulky. The Mids do this too but not as much. I am not using them outside yet so I can return if needed but this makes it hard to decide how they will feel on a long walk.Carpetong doesn't give the same results as outside. I want them for daily walks through paved sidewalks or groomed trails. Not sure if this brand is for me. I would like a more ... MoreI am new to Morrell and have tried many models and sizes. If I return these I have to pay for the shipping. If I exchange then I can't exchange again so if that pair has the same issue I'm stuck. I have purchased 2 models of winter boots and had similar sizing concerns and the tongue issue as well. The tongue design and inconsistent sizing needs to be fixed.
This is an excellent quality shoe, very supportive and sturdy. I initially thought I would need to go a half size down but decided not to with the thickness of socks I use for fall/winter hikes, so there is plenty of toe room. This is undoubtedly a multipurpose shoe that I use on rugged terrain, but I also plan to wear it to my kid's sporting events, walking trails, etc. I hiked a hard 12 miler and felt no discomfort whatsoever. The traction felt solid, too, and I didn't feel like I would slip when going over different size rocks. I've recommended this shoe to all my friends already!
I’ve been wearing Merrell Moab hiking shoes for years. I usually get the waterproof version, so these are my first non-waterproof ones. What I like:- They’re lightweight.- They dry quickly. One trail had a partially submerged boardwalk over a wetland, and the shoes filled up with water immediately. I was dreading the rest of the hike in wet shoes, but within a few minutes the water had drained out and they felt almost dry inside. They weren’t squishy or soggy at all. What I don’t like:- The insoles are very minimal. They come up high on the sides of my arches, which feels weird, and there’s a big space below my arches with no support. Within ten minutes my feet were in pain. I replaced them with my favorite hiking insoles, which made them wearable, but it ... MoreI’ve been wearing Merrell Moab hiking shoes for years. I replaced them with my favorite hiking insoles, which made them wearable, but it adds cost to the price of wearing these shoes. What I’m undecided about:- There’s so much space around my toes that I feel like I’m wearing slippers. I’m not sure that’s how I want my hiking shoes to feel, especially on steep downhill parts. They're both longer and wider than my Moab 2 waterproof shoes.- The shoes come up a lot higher in the back and sides of my ankles, compared to Moab 2. They create new pressure points that I’m not used to, but it’s possible they’ll soften up after a few more weeks.Bottom line: They have potential, but if I’d tried these on in the store I probably wouldn’t have bought them.
I was so excited to be selected by REI to try out and review the Merrell Moab 3 Women's hiking shoes that I immediately tried them on upon arrival. They did not disappoint and seemed very comfortable straight out of the box. They appear to be made of high-quality materials and the gray-blue color, Altitude, is really lovely too!I was pleased to see that the Moab 3 has good arch support as well as a nicely cushioned foot bed. I generally wear size 7.5 - 8 and have found some shoes are too narrow for my feet. I was very pleased that these appear to run a little wider and allowed ample room in the toe box. I tested a size 8, which appears to run true to size.I walked 6 miles in them on my first hike, without a breaking in period, and found them to be very ... MoreI was so excited to be selected by REI to try out and review the Merrell Moab 3 Women's hiking shoes that I immediately tried them on upon arrival. I tested a size 8, which appears to run true to size.I walked 6 miles in them on my first hike, without a breaking in period, and found them to be very comfortable. Honestly, I was surprised by how good my feet felt throughout the hike, without rubbing, irritation, or blisters. The Vibram outsoles provided a nice grip too, even on wet rocks and slick boardwalks. I also found them to be not overly warm, as some shoes can be in 95+ degree humid Georgia weather. The Merrell Moab 3 hiking shoes have continued to impress me on each additional hike. The only negative thing that I can say about this shoe, is that the arch support appears to start slightly further back towards the heel then most shoes I have worn. It was not uncomfortable to wear and I didn't notice it while hiking, just when testing them out in my kitchen. Often times I will replace the insoles in my shoes for one with better arch support, but I do not feel the need to do that with this shoe.I am pleased to have had the opportunity to try out the Merrell Moab 3 hiking shoe and would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a well-made, stylish, and comfortable hiking option.
I've been mourning my older Merrells that are worn out and not made the same anymore. I almost cried when I packed up these Moab 3s for return. My feet tried so hard to love them like I used to. But the squarish heel did not feel good under my heels and the horribly hard insert is unbearable. Merrell used to put Ortholite inserts in these styles, and I still have an 11 yr old one in my bike shoes, which still feels good. Also, the exaggerated arch doesn't feel natural at all and hits too far back now. The biggest flaw Merrell has is not making these with the Q Form, as in the old days. Only things still good about the Moab is outsole grip, mesh for hotter months and offering the Wide width. But walking comfort is gone for me, can't even tell there are air cells in ... MoreI've been mourning my older Merrells that are worn out and not made the same anymore.
