Since last February 2023 to this February of 2024 I have walked 1123 miles! I'm 65 and just started taking charge of my health last year. And a big part of the has been the shoes I've purchased from Merrell. My first pair were the Women's Siren Edge 3 - very comfortable - but, I walk pavement. I needed more support. My next shoe was the Women's Antora 3 - a step up, but again, after 5 months - still not enough support - but I still love these shoes for everyday wear! But, finally I found the shoe of my dreams, The Women's Moab Speed 2 Gore-Tex Wide Width - I feel like walking on clouds! What an improvement! I ordered a 1/2 size larger than regular and my feet are in heaven! I strongly recommend these shoes for any hard surface training/walking/running that you are ... MoreSince last February 2023 to this February of 2024 I have walked 1123 miles! My best pair of Merrell's yet! And my 7th or 8th pair of Merrells! And thanks to my recommendations - my friend has since bought 2 pairs of shoes from Merrell as well! You're welcome!

I bought these to replace my boots for a trip to Yellowstone. I was tired of big, heavy boots that took up a lot of real estate on my body, and I my bags, but still needed something that provided support in rough conditions. So far, these have delivered. I had my doubts, since they’re so light they almost feel fragile, but so far I haven’t been disappointed.I wasn’t counting, but over the course of this trip these shoes did between 10-12 miles. They handled scree well - could not even feel the rocks beneath my feet. Flat ground is the same story. Comfortable, breathable, and insanely light. I did not get the model equipped with gore-tex (gore-tex has longevity issues) so the heavy morning due along the rivers while I was fishing soaked my feet fast, but the shoes ... MoreI bought these to replace my boots for a trip to Yellowstone. A well-rounded trip, but I’m noticing significant wrinkling in the midsole and some wear along the lugs that hold the shoelaces. I’m hoping these are just signs of life.

I completed the French Camino in 2022 wearing Moab 3. The fact that I was able to walk all 800 km without blisters or any foot issues was amazing, particularly since so many people doing this walk were suffering from various foot injuries. I am planning to go back for another Camino this Fall and this time around I was looking for a lighter shoe. I thought the Moab Speed 2 might be precisely what I needed. The shoes are very light and look great. I have been wearing them for a couple of weeks and they immediately felt comfortable. My only concern at this stage is that I am worried I should have purchased half a size larger. I was influenced by reviews saying that they are made big so I went for my usual shoe size. However, my toes feel pretty tight in the new shoes ... MoreI completed the French Camino in 2022 wearing Moab 3. I’ve walked over 60 miles in these shoes since getting them and I wish I could give a higher rating because up until this weekend, I had no issues. It took overall about 30 miles to break them in, I did experience some sores those miles, but have been so comfortable past that. However, this weekend we had some light misting all day and the grass was also damp. After about an hour, I did notice some wetness which is unfortunate since they are advertised as “waterproof”. Other than that though, they are great on all the terrain and easy to moderate hikes. Probably would not buy again though because I was looking for a waterproof option.
I’ve tried several types of hiking shoes and these are by far the most comfortable I’ve ever worn. They are lightweight and supportive. They provide stability while still allowing flexibility. The cushioning is top notch and great for long hikes. The heel doesn’t slip and was very comfortable. They provide great traction, even on rocky wet surfaces. Fit was true to size. Would definitely recommend and I will only use these for hiking from now on.
I love the Moab Speed2 Gore-Tex, so I bought another pair. It was the last 9wide so glad I did. I also have the Moab Speed 2 but the Gore-Tex is a nicer shoe. Haven’t had them long enough comment on longevity. They are truly wide width and very comfortable. I walk my dog a lot on pavement mostly. They have excellent support. I’ve had plantar fasciitis from other shoes and do I need shoes like these. Great Buy. Very happy with my purchase. I have lots of Merrell shoes and these are by far the best.
Trash. I had the previous generation of this shoe. The Vibram sole chucked off almost immediately. The glued panels on the upper started peeling as well. Very light wear around my home. Most aggressive use was on the gravel driveway. Merrell did grant a warranty replacement but they only give you a short time to use it. I called asking for an exception but was told no. The customer service rep agreed she would rather lose a customer than make one happy. This is a warning to any potential new customers.
I bought the Moab Speed 2. Since it was called "Moab", I assumed that the fit/drop would be the same as my other Moabs (I have owned several gens of the shoe). I liked the look of Moab Speed, the traction was great, but I could feel my body pitching forward while walking. By the end of the 2nd day of walking in this shoe, my leg muscles developed severe cramping pains. The drop on this model is 1.5mm less than comparable Moabs. For those with compromised knee joints, this may not be the right choice since the change in drop is super noticeable after a short interval of use.
I bought the Moab Speed 2 for a trip to the Bavarian Alps for hiking the tallest peak in Germany, the Zugspitze. These great shoes also held up extremely well hiking in Tyrol, Austria. I never had any issues with these shoes that required minimal break in periods. Not only were they used for my beautiful hikes in the Alps, they also looked great while exploring historical cities like Innsbruck, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Munich. Bottom line, this is a phenomenal shoe that not only handled some of the most rugged mountains in the world, but also looked and felt great strolling city streets in Austria and Germany. Wherever your journey takes you, the Moab Speed 2 will not disappoint!
I have been brand-loyal to Merrell for hiking shoes for quite some time. I have a wide foot and their selection of wide shoes/boots has been key. I sought this particular shoe because I have had success with Hokas for everyday athletic shoes (aging joints) and it this new Merrell has some similar features. (Note: Hoka does not carry a women's wide waterproof!). I had to order a 1/2 size up in this shoe to get enough toe space (I usually wear a 6W in a Merrell hiker and in this shoe I required a 6.5W), but it has been great so far! I've had it on gravel, in mud, through the rain, and up and down small mountains and I've been pleased with the support, cushion, and grip. It is a bit loose on the heel, but adjusting the lacing has helped.
