I was absolutely *in love* with how cool these shoes looked! I loved them on the website, but they look even better in person. This was a bit of a selling point for me, because I was looking for a pair of shoes to bring to Europe this summer that would work for both hiking in the Alps and casual use in the city. I cannot emphasize just how cool these look if you want a good chunky running shoe that passes as an intentional style choice, while still being very functional. Unfortunately, the gore-tex is simply not breathable enough for hot weather. My feet were starting to sweat just testing them out around my apartment for 20 minutes, so I'm struggling to believe they could stay comfortable in hot humid summer weather while hiking or walking around a city. Unfortunately, the gore-tex is simply not breathable enough for hot weather. My feet were starting to sweat just testing them out around my apartment for 20 minutes, so I'm struggling to believe they could stay comfortable in hot humid summer weather while hiking or walking around a city. This was my first experience purchasing a gore-tex product, so maybe that sounds obvious to those who know better, but when I read "breathable" I was definitely expecting more. I ended up returning them primarily for this reason, so I never got to bring them outside and test the waterproofing abilities. I think they would be an excellent choice for cooler weather, and would have probably kept them if I was planning my trip for the fall.I do have some minor additional issues with the fit of the shoe. First off, the sizing is very strange. For reference, I am typically between an 8.5-9.5 in shoes, depending on the style/maker, and my foot is pretty average width, maybe slightly leaning in the narrow direction with high arches. I initially bought a size 9, and my foot got in, but was pressing firmly against both the front and back of the shoe. I tried a 9.5 and that fit more like the size I would get for a casual city shoe, but for hiking you definitely want more room in the toe. I ordered the 10, and it felt like the size went up proportionally more than it did when changing from the 9-9.5. The 10 was getting a little too wide, and had a lot of room in the toe, but my foot just didn't feel as secure/stable. In comparison, I also tried the non-waterproof speed 2 and agility peak 5, and found that I easily has as much room in the toe at a 9.5 in both of these as the gore-tex 10 had. I also found that the arch support in the speed 2 was not quite what I personally needed. It felt a little too low and too close to the front of my foot, although it wasn't too terrible and may fit someone else's foot great (as mentioned, my arches are high). They also do feel slightly heavy, which tends to trigger some problematic lower back pain from an old injury. If these don't work for you, I ended up ordering/keeping agility peak 5s and found that they are lighter, incredibly breathable, hug my foot better, and have the most incredible arch support (although in terms of look, they are sadly much plainer).

Since last February 2023 to this February of 2024 I have walked 1123 miles! I'm 65 and just started taking charge of my health last year. And a big part of the has been the shoes I've purchased from Merrell. My first pair were the Women's Siren Edge 3 - very comfortable - but, I walk pavement. I needed more support. My next shoe was the Women's Antora 3 - a step up, but again, after 5 months - still not enough support - but I still love these shoes for everyday wear! But, finally I found the shoe of my dreams, The Women's Moab Speed 2 Gore-Tex Wide Width - I feel like walking on clouds! What an improvement! I ordered a 1/2 size larger than regular and my feet are in heaven! I strongly recommend these shoes for any hard surface training/walking/running that you are ... My best pair of Merrell's yet! And my 7th or 8th pair of Merrells! And thanks to my recommendations - my friend has since bought 2 pairs of shoes from Merrell as well! You're welcome!

I’ve walked over 60 miles in these shoes since getting them and I wish I could give a higher rating because up until this weekend, I had no issues. It took overall about 30 miles to break them in, I did experience some sores those miles, but have been so comfortable past that. However, this weekend we had some light misting all day and the grass was also damp. After about an hour, I did notice some wetness which is unfortunate since they are advertised as “waterproof”. Other than that though, they are great on all the terrain and easy to moderate hikes. Probably would not buy again though because I was looking for a waterproof option.

I love the Moab Speed2 Gore-Tex, so I bought another pair. It was the last 9wide so glad I did. I also have the Moab Speed 2 but the Gore-Tex is a nicer shoe. Haven’t had them long enough comment on longevity. They are truly wide width and very comfortable. I walk my dog a lot on pavement mostly. They have excellent support. I’ve had plantar fasciitis from other shoes and do I need shoes like these. Great Buy. Very happy with my purchase. I have lots of Merrell shoes and these are by far the best.
The colors and the material are fabulous.... That's where it ends. I can't make myself wear these. I wore them to work I had extreme leg fatigue and pain all day. Thought I would give them a second chance wore them on a 5 mile hike yesterday. Actually I wore them maybe a half a mile before taking them off and doing the hike barefoot. I'm sure I would hurt worse today had I worn them. They are big and sloshy on my feet yet they're the same size Merrells I've bought in the past, there's little to no support and feels a lot like those cheap $20 shoes at that big box store. I paid a lot more money than that to hate them! 😖
Good quality, but the fit was disappointing. It’s not often I can find a 10 1/2. I usually have to settle for a 10 because an 11 is usually too big. These fit like a 10. The cushioning, especially the arch, isn't enough for me. I was hoping these would fit like my previous pairs of boots. Those cradle my feet and are the most comfortable boots I’ve ever owned. I’m a mail carrier and they’ve worked well keeping my feet dry on dewy days. I just don’t wear them all day.
Initially, they felt a little "short" at 40.5 mm, my shoes tend to be 41 mm. I used to take a 9.5 reg. width, but my feet seem to have widened after wearing Hoka's for so long, so I got the wide. The width fits well. I also did the heel lace lock, which brought my heel back just enough to ease the front hitting the toe box. I wanted a gore-tex wide women's shoe and this appears to be it (Hoka doesn't have one, and I don't want men's as they are too wide in the heel). I've only walked in the house with them so far, but I sense that I will be able to do a 6-8 mile walk in them. I may look into the non-gore tex model after I walk a distance in these.
I bought the Moab Speed 2. Since it was called "Moab", I assumed that the fit/drop would be the same as my other Moabs (I have owned several gens of the shoe). I liked the look of Moab Speed, the traction was great, but I could feel my body pitching forward while walking. By the end of the 2nd day of walking in this shoe, my leg muscles developed severe cramping pains. The drop on this model is 1.5mm less than comparable Moabs. For those with compromised knee joints, this may not be the right choice since the change in drop is super noticeable after a short interval of use.
I have been brand-loyal to Merrell for hiking shoes for quite some time. I have a wide foot and their selection of wide shoes/boots has been key. I sought this particular shoe because I have had success with Hokas for everyday athletic shoes (aging joints) and it this new Merrell has some similar features. (Note: Hoka does not carry a women's wide waterproof!). I had to order a 1/2 size up in this shoe to get enough toe space (I usually wear a 6W in a Merrell hiker and in this shoe I required a 6.5W), but it has been great so far! I've had it on gravel, in mud, through the rain, and up and down small mountains and I've been pleased with the support, cushion, and grip. It is a bit loose on the heel, but adjusting the lacing has helped.
So comfortable. Incredibly Lightweight and breathable. absolutely perfect for summer outdoor adventures. So hard to find cute and on Trend hiking shoes that actually perform on real hiking or a scramble. I can run in them , climb up walk my dog. Chase the kids on the daily, literally anything because they are so comfortable and with great grip. Obsessed with them. Trying them out in Moab UT this weekend for the ultimate test
