Had these less than 6 months and already leaking through right toe cap.Comfortable boot but if they can't stay dry they're basically useless for this price.Very disappointed - would not recommend.

Great quality, good looking and that Merrell out of box comfort (no break in)Hopefully it will stand the test of time!Good for pretty much anything.I have narrow feet, and the US 9 fits perfect for length, I did need to lace it narrower for width and I find their is a little excess material on the upper space around my toes, but it is not a major issue as I have never found ahving the shoes laced up tighter like this has caused wear on my classic moab mid gtx, moab tac gtx or moab response.I have found the lace hooks have caught on the odd thing once or twice, something to keep in mind.

Bought in March 2024, used to walk around the city and glue is already separating from the sole. These shoes are only 7 months old with light use. The bottom of the shoe separating means it's no longer waterproof even though I paid extra money for Gore-Tex. I have owned a few pairs of Merrell Shoes for over a decade and I have been a loyal Merrell customer. The other hiking shoes I've purchased in the past were worn daily and lasted years. These shoes although light and very comfortable are cheaply made. The sole separating from the shoe can be compared to a Walmart generic hiker in terms of manufacturing quality. I have emailed customer service to help me with this issue. I wrote this review to inform and warn others of this shoe's build quality. I'm embarrassed and disappointed for paying so much money for a shoe that lasted 7 months. On another note they were slightly bothersome to my ankle when I first purchased them as another reviewer wrote. The discomfort went away after the 6th use. It was the upper padding on the ankle support that was rubbing and causing discomfort / irritation to my upper ankle. I was happy with the shoes until the glue started to separate about a month ago from just walking around the city and my feet got wet.

I got these mid boots because I liked everything about my existing Merrell Moab 3 (J035785 size UK 9) mid boots except that in wet conditions the Vibram TC5+ outsoles (photo) trapped small stones and took ~15 minutes to clean. After a lot of online research and trying on Grisport Quatro (too narrow at the ball of the foot) I ordered these Moab Speed 2 Mid Gortex (J037501 size UK 9). The tongue and top are not as heavily padded as the Moab 3's. Otherwise they are equally comfortable. I don't like the thin flat laces as well as the Moab 3's thicker round ones. The soles are more open, without the Moab 3's fine grooves which trap small stones (photo).
I do most of my hiking at the Indiana Dunes SP. So, most of the miles are in sand which brings greater sole life. I split time/hikes between these and a pr of Asolo Landscapes. I prefer the Moabs. Better support and overall feel. I always put in my favorite insoles which I purchase @ same time as shoe/boot. I'll replace those at around 225 mi, then replace shoes/insoles at around 400-450mi. I've got 200mi on these and they've worn well and still look great. I'd recommend.
I am not going to comment on the comfort of these shoes because I purchased a size too small for me. I cannot blame the shoe for my mistake. However, I can say that within 3 months of light use, the sole started to separate from the shoe’s body on both shoes. Now less than 6 months after purchasing one of the eyelets broke. This is all on light use in the office. These boots have never been on a dirt trail. Very disappointed in these boots. These have been the only Merrell boots that have not been superb.
Happy to say goodbye to my Merrell Moab II's. I actually thought I liked those boots until I did a few miles on the Speed 2 Mid GTX books. So light. Such great cushion. And when hiking on gravel I no longer feel the crunch.
It's a good boot overall. Comfort, fit, support, stability and all. My complaint is the Gore-tex waterproofing. I live in the rainy PNW and hike through some really wet days. The last two hikes they've soaked through to the point where I'm squishing water inside my boots every step. I don't know that there's a better option so I'll probably stick with these anyway.
I bought this boot some months ago and wore them hiking all summer with various backpack loads up to 30 or so pounds to prepare for the back country of Yosemite National Park. After 6 days and 67 miles I have two black big toes! So great boot until load increased with steep downhills.
