Merrell makes some great boots. They make awful shoes. These are just designed like hiking boots without the ankle support. The sole is too stiff for a shoe, and the heel support is completely absent, so it is impossible to get a good fit for hiking without heel rub. If you prefer shoes to boots, do yourself a favor and buy trail running shoes instead of these.

I bought these as I work outdoors and need wet weather protection. I've had numerous medium to heavy rain days so far and my feet have stayed dry on every occasion. Very grippy too on all surfaces eg grass/bitumen/concrete/painted surfaces. Highly recommended if you need a comfortable shoe to keep your feet dry - I imagine they'd be great for bush walking in any conditions. I had another pair of Merrell shoes before these and these are heaps lighter - lighter and more comfortable than my everyday joggers as well! Great shoes and I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

I had these shoes for one week and really liked them. They were comfortable when hiking and I had high expectations. Unfortunately after one week of use one shoe was starting to seperate at the seams. I decided to return them and not try another pair.

I bought these for walking the West Highland Way, and they were excellent! Very comfortable straight out of the box, surprising light and waterproof, and breathable. The couple of times I stepped deeper than I should've into a stream, they dried out rather quickly! Equally at home on stone tracks, grass, or heather, I've had no issues with them over the near hundred mile trail. Very happy customer
I bought these shoes online through Myers as I am on my feet all day and often in wet conditions outside. I have been wearing these shoes for several weeks now, and I find them to be very comfortable and light weight. They keep my feet dry too. I am very satisfied with this purchase.
It's a Merrell shoe so it can't be too bad, and pleasingly it's not made in china, which is yet another reason why I like Merrell shoes.Unfortunately in my particular case, I found this shoe to be too small and too narrow. I'm normally a Size 10.5, so I got a Size 11, and found that it was almost too short, and uncomfortably narrow. The cut was also a bit low at the back so my foot wasn't held in place as well as it could have been, given that I wear orthotics. In the end I returned my pair, and while a Size 11.5 or 12 would have been good for me, I ended up going for the MOAB 2 as a replacement.Nevertheless, it's a good shoe, looks nice, and my only suggestion would be to get one size bigger than you normally get, especially if you have wide feet, or you have ... MoreIt's a Merrell shoe so it can't be too bad, and pleasingly it's not made in china, which is yet another reason why I like Merrell shoes.Unfortunately in my particular case, I found this shoe to be too small and too narrow. Walked a few miles in these now. Very comfortable BUT the Goretex does mean your feet heat up in the warm weather. Also, great off road but a little hard on the feet when tramping pavements. All in all a good purchase and sure they will come into their own once winter comes.
Took this shoe on a motorbike road trip through the whole of Vietnam and it held up great. Comfortable straight out the box and the goretex kept my socks dry even in all day rain while staying breathable on the more humid days. Water did get in through the top though (as with all shoes). A high top might be a fix to that but the overall convenience of this shoe is great. Can wear it anywhere with any outfit.
The purchase at Myer was made because the Merrell store had closed at Chadstone. I was looking at a new pair as the existing Merrell had worn out having been worn daily for almost 2 years. The shoe was the most comfortable and was my first pair of Merrell but my GP suggested I changed my shoes as it was causing a thick layer of painful skin to form on my sole. I was disappointed at the store closure but decided to meet my wife at the cafe at Myer. I was there first and recalled Myer had a shoe section just next to it. It was there that I discovered Merrill shoes was part of the collection- and those shoes were on sale. A couple had Gortex and I called my wife to come over to choose what she thinks is the best looking shoe. Her advice was this pair the pointy front ... MoreThe purchase at Myer was made because the Merrell store had closed at Chadstone. It was there that I discovered Merrill shoes was part of the collection- and those shoes were on sale. A couple had Gortex and I called my wife to come over to choose what she thinks is the best looking shoe. Her advice was this pair the pointy front allow more wiggle room for the toes. This pair was not what I asked for but the sales representative at Myer took the initiative to look for a size 10 of another design if not for her that purchase would have failed. Long story to a series of events that led to the purchase of what I think is one of the most practical, safe all round shoes in the world at a good price. After wearing it for a few days the pain on my left foot from thickened skin resolved itself. I recommend Merrell and thanked the Myer representative for solving my problem.
