Fairly stiff sole and tread is good rocky scrambling. Very lightweight. A nice blend of a trail runner and approach shoe.

Lighter than many shoes from Merrell, super comfortable right out of the box. Not sure if the slightly softer "tan" vibram sole will wear as well as the "black" ones do, but makes for a very cushy walk on trails or sidewalks.

Stand for hours and no issues. Had the previous version and loved then as well. If you do lots of standing and walking on concrete, these are for you.

Before they started falling apart I would have given them a 5 star review - excellent for day hikes and daily use.I have had the shoes for 4 months and the uppers are already splitting where my toes' knuckles are. I am very bummed about that since they are very comfortable and I really liked the way that they fit.Clearly they are not going to last as long as my older Merrell Moab's that I had for years and wore all of the time.
these are nice, lightweight comfortable shoes. however, they run quite large - particularly in length - at least based on the sample which i purchased, approximately a half a size larger than other shoes i've tried. they continue to have their well known boxy toe box.perhaps merrill has changed the template for the lasts that they use to manufacture their shoes, but i have bought about 15 pairs of merrill shoes over the years and these run much, much larger.
