I bought these shoes for a hiking trip in the Tetons and hiked a little under 50 miles. They were very comfortable but by the end of the trip unfortunately the sole was starting to pull off from the shoe at the front. Along with this there were some punctures in the sole along with a tear in the side of the shoe. I don’t know if this damage was because of the quality of the shoe or the fact that I went through rough terrain.

Pretty decent shoes but better for standing than walking. I have boney ankles and there is unbearable chaffing as a result of the tongue fabric overlapping with the main boot fabric. If mid-size boots have caused tightness before these boots will too most likely. Just something to note.

Bought these in Ullapool (Scotland) in October 2023 as my first ever pair of hiking boots. We walked rough long walks and these boots were fabulous. Waterproof, not ‘heavy’ and my orthotics fitted perfectly. Like another review, they were comfortable the second I wore them. I tried so many shoes before our departure but this is the one! I’m 60 with foot issues, flat, wide feet, so when a shoe fits it’s a blessing. Walked every day for hours over 5 weeks. It’s cheaper in Australia.

I’ve already gone on 2 moderate hikes and one backpacking trip with these shoes and haven’t had any issues since the first day wearing them. They are SO MUCH better than my previous Obos that were literally giving me bunions. Couldn’t recommend these shoes more! They are great for wide feet and the long treks. Happy trails!
SIREN 4 MID (GORE-TEX) BLACKTaken on parts of the larapinta trail in the Northern Territory over 8 full days of hiking. (Worn in over 1 week before leaving).Shoes Summary: durability was sacrificed to make the shoes more light weight and breathable. Fantastic over dry surfaces but as soon as you hit a slightly wet surface you lose all grip and slip. If you like shoes with sole and foot support, factor in buying insoles or look elsewhere.Full pro/con listCons- No support- need to buy insoles if you require foot and arch support. good thing it was noticed when wearing them in so I was able to purchase insoles before the hike.- Sort of forces you to roll your ankles in as you walk, if you are prone to internal ankle rotation these are not the shoe for you. (But Protects against external rotation) insoles help but was not expecting to have to buy them after purchasing expensive hiking shoes.- Despite wearing in and long hikes before blister free- the first time walking over river beds/large rocks/rock hopping/rock scramble. Blisters on both big toes, not room to spread toes for extra grip/stability on uneven surfaces- Slippery over smooth wet surfaces (even more so than even regular shoes)- Got a small rip on the top front near toes, unsure what day on the trail, but considering it was only 8days of walking it shouldn’t have happed. shoes not suited to hard rocky terrain. See photos, keep in mind I only had been wearing the shoes for about 2.5weeks.Pro,- Fantastic over dry loose gravel no slipping and gripping well.- Also good walking steep declines/inclines (dry conditions) -where others I was with, slipped I did not.- Lightweight- good for long hikes- Quick dry- Really Breathable- feet never felt hot- Higher tops- handy for sandy surfaces and protection for ankles- Not as ugly as many women’s hiking shoesNote: also purchased with hiking socks, the hiking socks came with loose seams and a tear in them, never worn and because they came faulty was not able to wear on trail.
The boots are very lightweight which is great for long distance however there is very little support in the ankle because of this. For that reason I don’t recommend for any flat footed folks! Also not sure if there is a shoe defect on just mine- but on the medial ankle, there is a metal piece inside both shoes that immediately gave me blisters on both of my inner ankles. Not sure if I’ll be able to figure out a hack to cover the metal up so it doesn’t dig in. I’ve had other merrells that have lasted me years! but so far, not seeing that much potential with these ones
These are not true to size. Way too narrow and small. I own a pair of Moabs and a pair of Thermo Rogue 3s that are perfect. I’m a size 9 and bought 9s in those and the fit is great. The Sirens are so small. Unfortunately when I tried put them on to go hiking, I realized how small they were and it was past the return date so I am now stuck with them. I wanted to love them - I absolutely love the color and design!
I would have given 5 stars but the fact that the traction on these are not great on snow, blacktop, wet surfaces. They are warm and have kept me feet dry. They are comfortable. The sliding, because of no grip, is horrible and, in my opinion, a reason I would not buy again. I have buckled my knee several times sliding:(
Extremely comfortable hiking boot. Lightweight. Roomy toe box. Great bottom tread. I have a narrow foot and lacing allows ability to tighten shoe to hug my foot to my comfort level. Does not rub at the ankle. Overall great hiking choice.
I have owned countless pairs of Merrell boots and shoes over the years. No other brand I’ve tried matches their comfort. I’m a huge Merrell fan because they perform and look great while doing it. So of course all 4 of my kids and wife get Merrells as well.
