Nice shoe; good fit with room in toebox and great sole. However the ankle area has a seam where I think waterproof lining meets ankle cuff, and that and the mesh fabric are quite hard and rough; even with thick socks it was not comfortable around the ankle like the nice smooth material on my favourite Agility Peak 4 shoes.I also note the footbed is not removable as stated in the description and shoes do not accommodate my custom orthotic as Agility peak 4 do. Disappointed to be returning.

I really, really like these shoes. I keep trying different brands but always end up coming back to Merrells. I don’t like too much padding in my running shoes but also don’t enjoy feeling every little rock on the path; The rubber bottom on this style is the perfect compromise - it is grippy and durable without adding a lot of weight. These are great for trails, paths and also indoor gym floors (I wear mine for pickleball & have loved the rubber covered toe - it doesn’t wear through like all my other shoes have done). All in all I’m very pleased with the fit, style, functionality and durability of these Merrells.

They've been moving further from the barefoot style and returning to more of a traditional trail shoe structure. Unfortunately with the trail glove 7, they've made the biggest jump back to traditional shoes. This style has much more cushioning than prior versions and a much wider sole base but without a wider interior. I've been wearing Merrell's barefoot shoes since 2011. They've gradually been moving their styles further away from "barefoot" and back to a traditional running shoe with lots of cushion and arch support. The changes from the trail glove 6 to trail glove 7 have been the most noticeable to me. Much more cushion, much more arch support, much wider heel base (nearly 1/2").Significantly altered my running form on my first run with them this week. Stopped the run short to avoid injury. Gave them a second chance a few days later with the same result.I will unfortunately be returning these.Hoping Merrell will come out with a new true barefoot running shoe again.
The shoes, in jade, just arrived. My second toe is slightly longer than my big toe and my second toe has room, so the length is right. However, the cut of the shoe narrows at the toes, which pushes my big toe towards my second toe. This is uncomfortable and is not true barefoot design. Not sure if I'll try half a size up or not just yet. I've been a long-time Trail Glove wearer and I am trying to prevent ever getting a bunion, so this change in toe box shape is disappointing. If you don't mind risking a bunion, the shoe is otherwise comfortable and I'm happy with the jade color. Maybe it's time for me to consider another brand.
These are definitely more comfortable than the TG 6. The arch support is much less noticeable and is just right for me. I am also happy to have a slightly higher stack and just a bit more cushioning because I can now wear my trail gloves for neighborhood walks and not just on the trail. I usually wear a 10, but in both the 6 and 7 I am wearing a 9 1/2. I did find that there is a bit more length to the 7, but, again, that is better for me. I do have a narrower foot but I can pull on the laces enough to get a good comfortable fit with no heel lift. All the changes to the Trail Glove are spot on. All in all this is a great shoe for me!
Trail Gloves allowed me to hike without knee pain, but the 6 was such a departure from the 5 that I couldn’t wear them. The wide toe box is back in the 7’s (thank you Merrell) but there is so much support built up in the arch area and the heel is so stiff that it still no longer functions like a barefoot shoe and it’s too narrow in the mid foot besides. My feet can’t move naturally so my foot-knee-hip alignment is off and it’s no good for my knees. I have three pairs of Trail Glove 5’s with literally hundreds of miles in them that I alternate wearing; they are wearing thin, with holes on the sides. Merrell, please please please offer the Trail Glove 5 again, no new R&D required! There is no barefoot shoe I have not tried. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars and to no ... These cannot be marketed as barefoot shoes with a toe box this narrow. I don’t have especially wide feet and there isn’t nearly enough room for toe movement. I can just about walk my dog in them but would never be able to run or work out comfortably. While they are nice looking, they feel very cheap. We’ve been making fabric out of recycled plastics since the early 90s so after 30 years of R&D there’s no excuse for brittle, scratchy, crunchy executions. Bring back the flex knit!
These are my holy grail shoe - I wear them to the gym for leg days and cardio, great for running around town, and obviously amazing for trail running (and street running honestly).They're lightweight, breathable. I am usually a 7.5, I ordered a 7 + 7.5 and I like the fit of the 7 better as I don't wear these with socks. If you're wearing socks, get your TTS!I had the last version of these shoes and the new version is lighter and I like the cute features they added! Really happy with my purchase.
I have owned many pairs of Trail Glove shoes and loved them. Many I still wear. My love stopped with Trail Glove 6 as they were constructed in a new way that was too narrow and made it almost impossible to put them on. Eventually I surgically removed some of the elastic holds which helped a tiny bit. I resolved to never buy another pair of TrailGloves. I did however keep looking for when a Version 7 would appear and when it did some positive reviews persuaded me to try again. I did and I was ecstatic that the fit is now more similar to Trail Glove 5. They are easy to put on, the fit is good for me and they look good.
