As a chronic constipated girl I can tell you with certainty this is what you NEED. I’ve tried miralax and it just doesn’t cut it. Metamucil is a godsend. No side effects at all and works quickly. It won’t give you diarrhea or loose stools but it will basically push things out. It doesn’t work immediately so no worries If you take it in the morning before work. I used to buy the orange flavored but realized how much sugar it had in it and bought this stuff. I would pay any amount of money for this. A miracle worker.
So, the good thing about this product is that it does contain some fiber, and psyllium husk fiber has been shown in numerous studies to be very beneficial.However, and this is a big one, I would never recommend this product. If you look closely at the ingredients, the first ingredient is sucrose; sucrose is sugar.This contains 16 g of sugar for every 6 g of fiber. That's almost three times as much sugar as the amount of fiber in every serving. In my mind, that amount of sugar is just ridiculous and unnecessary. Skip this one, and find a psyllium husk supplement that isn't mostly sugar. Your body will thank you!
I started to take this to get more fiber in my diet. An added bonus was my cholesterol went down 43 points after three months of consistently taking Metamucil three times a day. Another benefit is I’m now drinking 8 cups of water a day. I don’t like to chug anything, so I constantly stir the Metamucil as I’m drinking it. That prevents the clumps some were complaining about. I would highly recommend Metamucil. It’s a bit pricey, but it is 100% worth it.
