First of all, this is not Revzilla's fault. However, I bought the Michelin Commander III front tire for my 2020 Road Glide Ltd. I had a back tire which I bought at a charity auction for an injured rider. Michelin had donated the tire as they are headquartered where I live in Upstate, SC. Just got back from a 5700 mile trip. These tires are ok at highway speed but at lower speeds on smooth roads it is like running over pebbles the whole time...just a constant hum and vibration. Having been a Michelin person my whole life, I cannot describe my disappointment. I will never buy a Michelin product again. I had heard of issues but had been told it was "fixed". Ran 4 sets of Commander II on my Road King and the are the best tire on the market. 14 years of living and riding in the mountains of Colorado earned these tires my best rating. Heat, rain, slush, road snakes and high mountain passes proved their traction, smoothness and longivity-21K on one set. I just put a set of Commander III on and can't wait to see how the improved model preforms. I have tried many different brands- Metzler, Dunlop Elites, and the Michelin Commanders are my pic. Love touring this beautiful country.

Purchased a rear from Cycle Gear and the front from an online vendor, had both installed at Cycle Gear. The rear needed 3 ounces for balance, which I thought was a bit excessive. After installation, I instantly noticed an extreme vibration that seem to be coming from the rear. The front seems to be stable as there is no movement in the bars I feel the vibration in the floorboards and in the seat. After further reading, this seems to be a common problem with the Michelin Commander 3. I did purchase the warranty with the rear tire and will be attempting to get it swapped.

I ran Commander 2’s on my 2014 CTX1300, far superior to other tires I have tried. Grip so well by in dry they inspire confidence. Moved on to a Commander 3 in the rear 200/55-17 size, it felt different and I reduced pressure 4-5 pounds the 3’s seem to have a stiffer sidewall. After break in and reducing pressure from 44-40 it seems just like the Commander 2 tire. (Still have a Commander 2 on front) Mileage depends on how you ride.. I had the rear in the cords on the sides at 6400 miles. The center still had some life left. Michelin hypes these as rain tires.. To be frank, like any other tire, they slip and slide like other tires with similar tread patterns. They don’t have enough siping to provide anything more than average traction at best. They are smooth, the corner well and there is no 'howling' in cornering. However, I also changed the shocks at the same time so the ride is COMPLETELY improved. Between the Ohlins shocks and the new tires my bike is transformed. An added benefit is that the new shocks were slightly longer than my 'collapsed' stock shocks resulting in a new feel to the front end. For the money I would think Michelin would have given me a tire that does not do this. It's not just an annoyance really. Wheel and head stock bearings don't really like vibration. I'm sure the levels are not that big of a deal but no vibration is better. It is damped out by the time it hits my grips but it is still noticeable. RMMC gladly sent me a return shipping label and when it arrived they quickly refunded me the purchase. I didn't have time to order another and wait for it to arrive.That said, I got this tire from a different vendor. It now has 15+k miles on it and shill has thousands of miles to go. It handles well in the twisties, at interstate speeds and overall is a great performing tire. As the miles have added up it still works very well in all of the above conditions. Overall the tire started out great it was smooth and comfortable riding, but when you have a tire that is technically brand new i.e. less that 6 months old and only has a little over 2500 miles all on it from one trip on the upper east coast, and you have a side wall blow out while going down the interstate causing you lose control of your bike and wreck totaling it! Call it a manufacture defect what ever, I do check my Tire pressure religiously on mine and my wife's bike they were both good and we were not overloaded either. I just cant give anything but a one star for these! I was lucky to walk away from this crash with some broken ribs and road rash and bumps and bruises!-m-2010 HARLEY-DAVIDSON? DO NOT BUY THIS TIRE. I've had this on my Road Glide now for about 2 months and 3500 miles. There is a constant vibration/buzz/hum caused by the front tire between 45-50 MPH. After I had the tire installed I thought it would wear in after a short distance. 300 miles later it was still there so I brought it back to a dealer to look at thinking maybe I had a problem with my wheel bearings. The mechanic verified the problem, and said he had just installed the same tire on his Street Glide a week before and had the same issue. Michelin claims this is "normal", in 20+ years of riding I've never had a tire behave this way. Michelin told the dealer it would go away after the tire wore in over the first thousand miles or so. 3500 miles later it is no better than when it was ... MoreDO NOT BUY THIS TIRE.
