I have seen the Microplane used in cooking videos and recipe books for years but always thought they were a bit expensive for a grater especially when I already have a box grater in the kitchen. A few months ago I saw an inexpensive knock off version so thought Id try it out, on my first use grating some cheese I found it really tough to actually move the cheese across the blade and had to use a lot of force, so much that the cheese actually jolted and I ended up grating my thumb. It was really nasty, so I was apprehensive about spending a fair bit more on the real deal and ending up with a utensil I felt unsafe using.I have to say my experience with the Microplane has been the total opposite. I have tested it with both soft and hard cheeses, garlic, ginger and lemons and each glide across the blade with minimal effort. The blade doesnt actually feel super sharp to the touch but grates very easy so this is a credit to the unique design of the Microplane which is what really sets it apart from others. It also feels very sturdy when youre grating so youre not trying to balance the weight of the cheese with the handling of the grater, which makes it even more safe to use. Cleaning is also very easy, just wipe downwards along the blade rinse under warm water and it will be clean. It really is the Gold Standard and is worth spending a little extra on, even if only to save you grating your thumb

I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and pride myself in preparing yummy food for my family and friends. I've often asked myself why I didn't own a Microplane. I would use my grater or endlessly mince ginger or garlic to get it just so...Then, I finally made the purchase, and I am forever grateful! It's my go-to tool in the kitchen. I love how easy it is to use, how many ingredients it transforms and how easy it is to clean.

This is quite simply excellent and I am buying it as presents for the family!I was always wary of zesting citrus fruit or grating parmesan cheese with an ordinary grater, because it was dangerous and messy. The microplane does this all safely and collects the zest or shavings in one place. Yes it is more expensive but certainly worth the money; I cannot recommend it enough.

Love this microplane! I use it for lemon and orange zest for baking and cooking, but it also works great for cheese and chocolate. I particularly love the case that goes on it and prevents the blade from rusting, and makes for easy and safe storage. It's easy to use and clean and has truly made my cooking so much easier. Buy it, you won't regret it!
A staple kitchen tool that should always be close by. Razor sharp and a big fat grippy handle make super fine grates of cheese, chocolate, nutmeg, citrus zest, etc. easy even with wet hands or gloves on. Get a real Microplane, most of the cheaper options either don’t cut well or don’t last long.
Very glad I bought this Microplane Premium Classic Zester from Knifewear. This replaced another, lower-quality zester I was using and the difference is quite noticeable. This one is very ergonomic, produces really crisp and uniform zest, and is surprisingly easy to clean. I bought the yellow one (because lemons) and it looks great in my kitchen.
I purchased this a few months ago, so I’ve had the chance to use it numerous times. It is by far the best grater for making lemon or orange zest I have ever used! Easy to hold, easy to clean, grates easily and very finely, and it’s easy to scrape off any zest that does not fall off on its own. I will never be without one of these in my kitchen again. Buy it, you will not be sorry!

Premium classic series has that long lean body that everyone recognizes easily as Microplane design, stainless steel blade and plasticrubber body. Gourmet series looks sleek and offers ample grating and shaving surface, softtouch handles, plus non slip rubber ends. Home Series The body and handle is made of plastic only the paddle is metal, the quality of the blades is always the same but overall the item looks less profession and more for normal home cooking. Elite Series includes a transparent cover that doubles as a grating catch feature and measuring cup. When positioned underneath the grater, the dualpurpose covermeasuring cup allows chefs and home cooks to conveniently zest citrus and grate a wide range of ingredients with more control and precision. All series come with small rubber feet in order to give more control preventing accidental slips while grating, they also protect the surfaces and bowls. In my opinion the purchase should be based always on what you expect want from the item youre buying.Sturdiness 1. This well-made and robust grater/zester is a really useful adjunct to use with fruits and salads, cheese and vegetables.Use the zester for fruit peel and hard cheese and the grater for cabbages, cauliflowers, zucchini and carrots, etc. This item comes with a plastic cover as a safety device while being stored in a draw.It is well balanced, very effective and delight to use.
If. You want an excellent zester or small grater then this is definitely for you.I have found it invaluable in my kitchen for all manner of shredding. It's robust and doesn't bend while using it ,Also handles extremely well and the easy grip handle keeps your fingers well away from the sharp blades.Takes up little space in the drawer .Washes quickly.Definitely worth the purchase.I just love it.
