I initially thought this would be an "adequate" lightweight small-sized computer which would handle most of my basic business tasks and client activity while traveling or out of the office. The keyboard is small, but it is easy to get used to. The track pad is fantastic and has some nice multi-finger tap and swipe settings. Battery life is fine.This was intended to be a backup computer, but I find myself using it much more than expected. Yes, my main laptop is more powerful, has a larger screen, can handle more intensity, but the performance difference is normally not an issue. This is a great computer. Just make sure you also buy an adapter which allows a standard USB device or cable to work with the USB C port.

It handles all of these tasks well. Speed is good, screen is very bright and clear, and sound is awesome. For connectivity, Microsoft made a great choice in using a single USB-C port. USB Type C is quickly becoming the standard and with good reason - the physical connectors are rugged, small, and data transfer is lightning fast. The surface go can also be charged through its USB-C port, and it can easily power accessory devices through same as well. But what I really like is the size and weight - they are so perfect! I can toss it into my backpack, bicycle bag, or just tuck it under an arm. And its very ruggedly built too. I've had many, many laptops etc over the years but none of them really worked as well for me. As of this writing, the Surface Go is now in its third generation. In my opinion, if you want a great little jack-of-all-trades Windows computer, you can't go wrong with the Surface Go.

Battery life is good. Build quality is excellent - the metal alloy case is rugged, smooth, and has a solid feel. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass which is very tough and is scratch resistant. Mine was a bundle and came with the optional keyboard cover. I find the keyboard to be very nice with good tactile feedback, and the keys are well placed. Backlighting is a bonus for use in dim areas. But the cool thing is that you don't really need the optional surface go keyboard because this computer also has Bluetooth and so will connect to most all Bluetooth keyboards ... Also, it can handle more electrical current which means that externally powered USB hubs are no longer needed in most cases. Out of the box, the operating system is Windows 10s. This is a limited version of Windows 10 which only lets you install software from the Microsoft store. That is a deal breaker for me and many others but fortunately there is an easy, painless way to convert to full Windows 10 professional which involves just following some simple instructions from Microsoft. To sum, I think that the Surface Go is good value for money. I'm very pleased with it and would recommend.
UPDATE: The GPU has died one month in. One Google search will tell you that it is near impossible to fix these computers' internals. I've had this laptop for one month and it's already unusable, updating drivers has done nothing, it's 100% the GPU and I am horribly disappointed as I had held onto hope that it wasn't as bad as it was for the entire first month of owning it, but it barely even lets me see what I'm doing nowadays. It always has either ghost images of the last thing it had pulled up (whether it's the Windows logo from booting up, or whatever application I had open last), or it goes to INTENSE strobe. $200 down the drain. I wish this didn't happen and I wish something could be done because I did not have $200 to waste on something I NEEDED for work.

Battery life is also on the shorter side, but this is mitigated by the Surface Go having support for USB-C charging with USB Power Delivery, so you can power it up with a USB PD power bank.There's two commonly-available versions of the Surface Go: a cheaper version with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of eMMC storage, and a better version with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of faster NVMe storage. The 8/128 version has enough memory and storage that's fast enough to not hold up most tasks. The 4/64 version, on the other hand, is prone to running out of memory and slowing down dramatically when you try to use it hard, which is particularly problematic on a device with a relatively slow processor. As such, I'd strongly recommend getting the 8/128 version. (A third version with a built-in LTE modem is also available but most people won't need it; I simply have it tethered to my phone in the field.)To get the most out of the Surface Go, I strongly suggest getting a Type Cover to go with it as well. An active stylus can be useful but is by no means essential; I have a Bamboo Ink stylus and it works very well with the tablet.All told, as long as you understand the limitations (which aren't severe considering its intended purpose), if you're looking for a small, lightweight device to surf the Web, watch videos, and be productive almost anywhere, the Surface Go is just what you need.

I have owned multiple netbooks and the Surface exceeds all of them as a laptop in terms of size, weight, usability and performance.The BIGGEST issue I see with this device is there is no method that I can discern for Amazon Video purchases to be downloaded to a Surface Go and played back while on an airplane. This makes the Go more or less useless as a media consumption device in any circumstance where wifi is not available, and is a GLARING omission by Microsoft. Yes, I could have purchased movies via iTunes or the Microsoft Store or download via Netflix, but this limits flexibility which makes the Go much less useful as a hybrid and more of an expensive yet performance-compromised small laptop. For this reason alone I have considered returning my Surface Go and replacing it with an iPad Mini 4 as I originally thought, as the iPad is more suited for media consumption but poor (in my experience/opinion) for work and email. For this reason I may keep the Go, but I'm disappointed that Amazon and Microsoft have not come up with a solution.
