I have tried 4 different Logitech mice on this and none work. They will only work intermittently, stopping after 20 minutes or so and then doing nothing. I do not know if it is because this was a refurbished unit and possibly that was the initial problem in the first place. At any rate it is ridiculous that a laptop cannot operate with a mouse. Very very very disappointed in this feature because I cannot use the built in mouse pad for my work. Total waste of money.

After over a year of ownership, I regret buying this computer. The individual problems are small but many that add up to a poor experience.2GB RAM are reserved for graphics with no way to free it up, effectively making this a 6GB RAM computer and I feel that loss frequently when it struggles to do too many things at once.Setting the performance level to anything above Recommended will cause the fans to spin up and heat up the machine. Every few swipes Windows doesn't react to the action, making the cursor feel like it is stuck.I could go on. The computer is well built and looks nice. It is very pleasant to type on. The screen is large and high res. Lots of nice things going for it, but the little things add up very fast. If you are looking at this machine definitely consider a smaller Surface Pro instead. The Surface Book might be better for you but my SB1's latch mechanism broke and rendered the machine worthless. On second thought, maybe check out a Razer or Dell instead.

We needed a new general purpose computer for home and this fulfills that need, and then some. With light use (1-2 hours) the battery lasts for days. The screen saturation is weird/over saturated when on battery power, but after a quick search, it's a known issue that Microsoft hasn't been able to resolve. It's not a huge issue, just something I didn't know about before purchasing. Set up and updates only took a couple hours total over the first couple days, so no biggie there either! Overall, we love it, and when it becomes too outdated to use, we'll definitely look at buying another Surface device. Very satisfied with our purchase!

I bought this laptop with a few things in mind: 1) to browse the internet, 2) to do some word processing, 3) to do some light gaming. As far as browsing the internet and word processing goes, it’s absolutely fine. It runs nice and smooth, quiet, and it has no problems launching the standard programs. What makes it even better is the screen is rather gorgeous and the keyboard feels wonderful to type on. All good and expected things. However, as soon as you try to stress the machine with some light gaming (in my case, Minecraft or World of Warcraft), the system can barely function. The fan starts going 100 mph, the machine throttles so easily, and the system heats up to an unimaginable level. It’s honestly kind of inexcusable for a laptop that costs $1100+, especially ... MoreI bought this laptop with a few things in mind: 1) to browse the internet, 2) to do some word processing, 3) to do some light gaming. It’s honestly kind of inexcusable for a laptop that costs $1100+, especially when you can just buy a far superior MacBook for $1000.So I can’t really recommend this product, unless you’re just really into the Surface brand and only want a Windows laptop for surfing the web and doing some office work. But even then, surely there are cheaper and better laptops out there you can get? Or maybe spend a bit more and just get a Surface Book instead - at least there’s a bit more value to the product there.
I had a Surface prior to my purchase and loved it. Very strong and dependable machine. Although this is last year's model that BJ's offered, this is a great buy for a very good solid state design. Microsoft did a good job with this laptop. But to get it in a 15", incredible deal. With the money saved, I would highly recommend that you piggy back your laptop with the purchase of BJ's 3 year extended warranty since the Microsoft warranty may run out. Remember, this is last year's Surface model. This is a great deal and I have not found one any cheaper for months. Great deal!
I bought this in 2020 refurbished. It's a pretty great machine that does everything I need it to. Browsing the web, watching/streaming videos, coding a little. The keyboard itself is wonderful to type on. Keys give nice feedback and the sound is easy on the ears. The keyboard backlight is nice when used. The battery is so far, so good (it's not world beating, but it's serviceable). Screen is nice and bright, but does sometimes reflect a little too much sunlight. The only 3 things that have been something to complain about is that the laptop itself is really lightweight, but it's also somewhat big. It definitely doesn't lend itself easily to just lugging it around. The other thing to watch out for is if you do carry it around (if in the open position), the hinges on ... MoreI bought this in 2020 refurbished. They're smooth and work wonderfully, but they feel a little flimsy. The last thing to mention is that the computer can sometimes get a little hot when doing some intensive work.Overall, it's been great for the 2.5 years I've had it.
Please dnt get fooled by the company Microsoft and surface laptop 3 looks, like I did. All that glitters is not gold! I bought this laptop 11 months ago, thinking Microsoft is a pretty decent brand. Its a hefty amount for a device that doesn’t really work. Initially it was working pretty well but just before 1 year, the laptop started making fan noises with blackening of the screen. I contacted customer support after multiple efforts they sent me a replacement ( refurbished laptop) which had the same problem and did not work well even for a day, it used to turn off and give windows error in the middle of my work. I requested another replacement and technical support , they were also unable to assist due to faulty device and again I had to request another ... MorePlease dnt get fooled by the company Microsoft and surface laptop 3 looks, like I did. I requested another replacement and technical support , they were also unable to assist due to faulty device and again I had to request another replacement, which I received, this time it was even worse, it continuously showed win2kfull.sys error and later it got me to a screen which said download window/windows corrupted. I spent entire day with technical support, which btw is not easy to get. Their service is pretty slow, they hardly respond to emails , you are kept on hold forever, and then suddenly your call cuts off and its a process all over again. Since then its been almost 3 months, I have spent my time just trying to get a replacement that works well. And still no luck! Will update my review once I hear back from them. But for now I can’t be more disheartened and dissatisfied. Honestly If anyone is interested in similar light weight, functional, durable laptop please go for Dell XPS or Macbook, you won’t regret!
I am not a techie or any kind of computer genius. I asked my techie friend to help me find a computer within my financial parameters. He suggested this one and once it arrived he examined it, set it up for me and pronounced it an excellent deal. So I'm giving his review, not mine. I use it for personal stuff and it works fine. Lots of room on here and I'm happy with that. It is refurbished but it looks brand new...has that 'new car smell' to it. If I were to improve it I would say that these computers need to be in colors. This dull silver stuff is really boring, but I suppose they are a tool and not a work of art...more's the pity.
Four days after purchasing a brand new Microsoft Surface Laptop 3, and after using it only twice, the laptop crashed on me. Tech support at Microsoft were incredibly helpful. However, it did take them nearly five hours of remote controlling my computer to fix the problem; on top of my being two hours on hold, and an additional two hours to ensure their updates had completed.I find it very disappointing that a brand new computer would require nearly ten hours on my part to ensure that it is functional. As a tool that I require for my work in the current work-from-home situation, this was very far from ideal.Apparently one/some of the drivers were broken; this required a complete reset of the computer and downloading all drivers again. As a tool that I require for my work in the current work-from-home situation, this was very far from ideal.Apparently one/some of the drivers were broken; this required a complete reset of the computer and downloading all drivers again. One of the tech support assistants said that he had helped four other customers with this problem. Whilst I am relieved that my surface now appears to be fixed, I think it is unusual and unacceptable that this seems to be a recurring issue with the Surface Laptop 3. Customers should not need to spend hours on a brand-new product to ensure that it is functional.I would like to say a big thank you to Microsoft's excellent tech support, who were polite, patient, provided good explanations, and who managed to fix my problem. It is just a shame that this problem happened in the first place - and that I was not the only one to experience it. I understand that one-off problems happen, and in that case, it is just bad luck. Mine was not, however, an isolated case, as tech support informed me.I will not be investing in any Microsoft Surface product in the future as I cannot trust that a new product will be functional.
The surface 3 is still very good even though its a few years old now. Its the perfect budget power house for someone who is in a creative field studying like me. Coding, photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator are all applications I use and this laptop handles fine for the most part. It does slow a little under heavy load but if you're looking for starter laptop this is perfectly fine. The 15" is a good choice as the screen sits a bit taller as well, so productivity on this machine is good. Colours are vibrant, text is nice to read because the picture is nice and sharp and it has the bonus of touch screen too. Build is and sturdy, feels a little heavy but that may be because i've never use 15" machine before. In short I would recommend this laptop to anyone who is looking ... MoreThe surface 3 is still very good even though its a few years old now.
