Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13.5" i5 512GB/8GB (Black)

The wholesome experience. Value for money. I have been using it for around 15 days. The highlight for me was the superb experience I had while dealing with the salesperson working at the store. I forgot the person's name. My apology. He was prompt and friendly. I can't think of a negative aspect of this device. It is totally recommended, as of now.

Do not waste your money

Expensive laptop with other brands that are cheaper and have better performance. Battery life does not last as it said it would. Drains 10-15% every hour on battery saver mode on the first day of using it after leaving it charged overnight. Slow and laggy on battery saver mode with minimal programs running - only had chrome and a PDF file running. My 10-year-old laptop performs faster than this and the only reason I was recommended to buy this from the shop assistant was for storage. Overall, disappointing product and nothing special about it that stands out from others.

Don’t buy

My surface pro would not work although I bought it 2 years ago. I took it to our local tech support store and they said that it’s an electrical issue and that THEY DON’T FIX MICROSOFT BECUSE THE SCREEN COULD EASILY BREAK!! So I tried best buy geek squad. They said the same thing. And the problem is there is no Microsoft store in Canada anymore and I have to ship to them and wait till it gets back. I can’t wait 2 weeks so I ended up buying a laptop from Apple.I WOULD NEVER BUY THIS EXPENSIVE CRAP, had I known no can fix surface pro except for Microsoft.

Great home use laptop

I'm really happy with my new laptop - does everything I need. Colours and graphics are dynamic, so much more vivid than other brands (including my previous laptop). Laptop is fast, responsive touch screen and as expected Office and related apps all integrate well. I like how thin and light this laptop is and the build feels good quality. However there is an excess border around the screen which would be better if thinner/removed.

Nice

I bought this computer after my 2013 MacBook failed. A switch to windows based computer has been pretty easy. I don’t like edge, and hate that bing is their default se( really? Bing?) but it’s easy to download and use chrome. I have had a few instances of the computer freezing which is my main reason for only 4 stars. My old MacBook never ever froze. Not sure how the material around the keyboard is going to hold out but it is kind of nice. The computer is reasonably fast, battery isn’t great I am on video calls often and it always needs plugged in. Love the light weight and slim profile, great for traveling.

Quick & Pleasant!

I've only been using it for about a week now, so keep in mind this does not cover long-term usage, but the laptop seems excellent so far. I have been doing nothing intensive, but occasionally been lax with my tab management and this has handled it by a champ. Turning on/off is quick (probably because of the SSD), new tabs are fast, internet is fast, updates are fast.Storage wise it has enough to facilitate me without issue. (Interestingly enough on the 256GB model they give 500GB, of which ~240GB is taken up by... What appears to be Windows/Software? Picture quality is nice - I had expected the non-standard aspect ratio to be odd but instead it is quite pleasant. (Or rather, no different from the usual.)Overall build quality feels very premium - smooth, feels nice and solid. The alcantara isn't as sweat-absorbing as I thought it was which is probably good for longevity. (I personally think it adds coziness to the device.)The keyboard is very nice to type on. Whatever switches they're using they should continue doing so - with the keyboard flex it makes it very pleasant if you're a touch typer and speeding along. Minor things like that make it easy to love.Trackpad is smooth, responsive, and has some features. (Three fingers up, four fingers down, etc.) I have not tested the camera yet but it recognizes my face to start up on power-on and it's very quick to do so.Overall I'm rather pleased with my purchase.. It's got a high build quality, quick software (though they've loaded on solitaire for you), and adequate specs for most users.

Really Great!

I bought a floor model! it works amazing, the store had everything to go with the floor model still. April was really awesome going over everything with this laptop. i need a laptop for accounts and school. I found out my cousin uses this 1943 model for work from home! it loses a star because their isnt an ethernet connection so ill have to buy an extra piece. amazing software! i havent had a laptop in about 10 years so i was worried, but well worth it.

Surface Laptop 4

After buying this product on June 10th and upgrading from my surface book 2, I must say this product is nice to use. The keys are nice to type on, the material (Alcantara) feels comfortable when resting finger and hands on it. the AMD processor in this I think is just as snappy as the Intel-based CPUs, and lastly WAY cheaper than my surface book's cost back in 2018 at 2700$. Thankfully, I was also able to disable the touch on this because frankly, I don't enjoy touch screen laptops. Thanks, BestBuy for Selling me an awesome laptop and Thank you Microsoft for manufacturing an excellent product. I will definitely buy this again when I have to upgrade!!!

Terrible

* Gets really hot, burns your lap* Doesn't hibernate/sleep when closing lid* Has issues with Windows Hello for Business PIN* Terrible support from Microsoft* Came with small (very minor) scratches and imperfections on the screen glass from the factory* Battery life not anywhere near what is quoted, not even 25% of the 18 hours they quote. Lucky to get 2 hours battery

Wonderful Laptop

I was first shocked when I realized I had purchased the wrong laptop but, I kept it and initially didn't want to use it. When I finally used it, it was more than I hoped for. When I compared the one I had intended to purchase, it paled in comparison. I'm glad I accidentally picked this one. I wouldn't trade it now for nothing! Loving this laptop. Thanks!!!
