I was skeptical at first being that it is an arm based product and historically windows on arm has been a little hit and miss. However after using this table for a bit as my non-gaming daily for over a week or so I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by the performance and reliability for “most” things that I have tried to do with it.I do software development, and for the most part that experience has been fairly painless and performance has been great. However there are some caveats to that. Programs that are not specifically made for arm run in an emulation mode (so x64 apps) and those apps do have some slight performance hits due to this translation layer. But during normal use those issues are mostly not noticeable at least for the applications I have been using. When it comes to down right application failures there have been a few applications that I was unable to install because they don’t offer an arm version and they would not install ( such as ARC browser which I use on Mac and my intel based windows machine) I also had an issue where an application would install fine but I could not activate it for some reason so I was unable to use it. For productivity software however those where the only two real examples of problems I had.I’ve also been really happy with battery life in normal use as I can get a full 12 hour day of work done and still have battery to spare without much of a worry at all. That’s nice compared to some other laptops I’ve tried to use for work in the past that left me scrambling for a place to plug in.Build quality and style wise, I really appreciate the simple clean design just the adjustable kickstand on the back and that blends in when you fold it down. That kickstand is amazing as well allowing me to use more angles than I ever thought I needed for different situations. The copilot+ stuff is cool if you have a use for it. I played around with the image co-creater features for a while and it really helped flesh out an idea I had been working on even though I am an awful artist. It’s nice to be able to prompt the system, start drawing and as you go it slowly improves the generated image. It’s a neat feature if you have a use for it and I’ll probably use it more in the future. The other really cool co-pilot plus feature I was not expecting to like so much was live captions. It was amazing to be able to watch a video in another language that did not have translations available and be able to understand what was going on. It’s surprisingly fast and super useful for some of the work I do. As for it’s accuracy I’m not totally sure on that front but it was close enough for me to get the information I needed without needing to refer to another source or person. As for all the other co-pilot+ features I’ve not had a lot of time to use or play with them so I don’t have much to say on those but overall I have been super happy with the experience and pleasantly surprised.Overall if you’re looking for a super portable and fairly quick computer to do work on this is shaping up to be a great choice overall. I’ve all but replaced my other travel electronics because this takes up less space and does the things I need it to without too much hassle. There is one note for all of this though, do not expect to be able to play games on this laptop/tablet. It’s not intended for that and the driver compatibility with games is very far from good. There are also several games that just won’t run at all because some kernel level anti-cheat systems don’t support ARM. I’m sure that will get better in the future but in reality that’s not what this computer is intended for anyway. I just wanted to make sure I included that in my review just in case someone was looking at it for that reason. The only real reason I was not able to give this a 5 star rating was the few issues I did have with software compatibility. I think after some time that issue will get better though.... Show more

These ports are listed as having charging capability for doing things like topping up your smartphone, earbuds, etc. An external display can also be driven from these versatile connections. When first powering it on, I was also wowed by the OLED screen, which is the best I’ve had on a device this size.Similar to most smartphones, Microsoft eases the initial setup of a new device like this by letting you select from the latest configuration backup of one of your other Windows devices, then initializes things to match and installs any apps that you have previously installed from the store. Also, as usual, there is a big initial mandatory software update that delayed my first real hands-on use of the product. From day one, Windows has always run on processors using the Intel x86 architecture, which has undergone massive changes and improvements over the years, but keeps everything compatible from generation to generation. This new line of products, however, runs on the Snapdragon X processor family based on the ARM architecture that is completely different from Intel’s designs. This is what I really wanted to evaluate from the standpoint of speed and compatibility. My first impressions were very good indeed. The tablet boots up so quickly that I can hardly see it doing the logon validation. I use face recognition to sign onto Windows. On my older Surface I see messages such as “Looking for you” as it does its processing before signing me in; on the new one I’m signed in before I can read any intermediate messages. Even though Windows provides some sort of “emulation layer” that allows apps written for the Intel CPUs to work on ARM CPUs, it is also possible (and preferred) to modify and build an ARM-specific version to maximize performance. The Edge browser is one such app, and it really screams. The main thing I noticed is that it launches instantly the way that you expect smartphone apps to do.I haven’t been able to do any meaningful tests on battery life, which is supposed to be a big advantage of the Snapdragon CPU, but I can definitely say that this tablet stays much, much cooler than my older Surfaces did. Less heat has got to mean less battery being chewed up!There have been reports of some Intel-based apps not running correctly if at all on the new architecture, especially some of the more complex, technical apps. One such app that I really wanted to use is a cycling simulator that connects to my indoor biking setup and lets me “ride” roads all over the world while collecting data and providing a realistic video feed of the riding experience, sometimes shared with people around the world. I was therefore very pleased to see that this app is working on the new tablet, although I did send them a suggestion that they should produce a specific ARM version that would further improve its performance. In general, I have not yet tried an app that did not run fine or not perform well on the new Surface. So far I’ve had only limited need for the new CoPilot+ AI features on this device. The specs for the NPU are certainly impressive (40 trillion operations per second!!) and I wanted to give it a try. So I used the smart pen that came with the keyboard to draw a very rough sketch of a bicycle in the Paint app and then played around with CoCreator+ to see what I could do with it. For just a couple minutes of tweaking, the results were impressive, and someone with more artistic talent could undoubtedly refine it much further. I’ve included the beginning and ending graphics with this review. In summary, this is probably the biggest upgrade in the history of the Surface line of products and is well worth considering as a new or replacement tablet. The improved performance potential going forward is huge.... Show more

The front and rear facing cameras are excellent, and the built-in AI abilities enhance and expand your creative use of them.Every Copilot+PC has a powerful AI processor, also known as a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) which can deliver up to 45 trillion operations per second (TOPS). You will begin to put this NPU to work the moment you boot up your computer. Of course, you can smash the Co-Pilot key and a screen will pop up asking you what you want to explore. You can type in your instructions, or speak them into your microphone, and you will get both a typed and spoken answer. If you are watching virtually any video that contains audio or communicating with a group through Teams or Zoom, your computer now can translate scores of foreign languages into English and present the generated subtitles to you in real time. This is immensely useful. I tuned into a CNN news channel being broadcast in Spanish, and this feature translated everything that was spoken into English subtitles in real time. Right now, this only seems to work in one direction: translating the other language into English. I am confident that translation in the other direction will work as well as the product matures.Another example: open the Paint application and use the co-creator feature. Draw a picture and use artificial intelligence to enhance it, and the amount of creativity is varied by adjusting a slider. I did not care for the result I got when I tried this with a drawing, so I took a picture of my living room using the rear camera and enhanced it with both impressionistic and surrealistic styles using various levels of creativity. I am attaching the rather interesting result.AI and Copilot PCs are in their infancy, so some of the promised features are not yet available to the public. I expect that my use of AI will broadly expand in the days and months ahead.Battery life has been exemplary. I easily get a full day of use with varied tasks, and when I close the keyboard cover to let the device sleep, I can open it back up hours later with almost no battery drain. Of course, to get the best battery life, I turn the brightness down some. My use scenario easily yields about 10 hours of battery life in real world use, and I am sure that by tweaking the settings I could squeeze out more.I felt little heat from this efficient computer. The fan, when it did turn on, was barely audible. I could shut the keyboard cover which puts the device to sleep and come back to it hours later with only a tiny amount of battery drain. This was a first for any Windows computer I have ever used, and it was greatly appreciated. As much as I love the OLED screen, the base model with the still- great LED screen also supports the same sharp 2880 x 1920 resolution and should squeeze out even more battery life, if you can live with the 256GB SSD. Remember, these Surface Pro Tablets have a user replaceable SSD, which differentiates them from most other Copilot+ PCs. You’ll need some technical acumen and patience to research how to image your original SSD containing the operating system and copy it to the new SSD, but it’s certainly doable without having to take the device apart.I personally have always loved the Surface tablet form factor. I owned a Surface RT, a fourth-generation Surface Pro, a Surface X, and still have a Surface Go 2. Windows on ARM has been frustratingly slow to evolve, but this Copilot+ PC is a giant step forward. Better emulation means many more applications designed for X86 chips can run under ARM.All my Microsoft 365 office products are running natively and work exactly as they do on my desktop and other Windows laptops. All my home and office printers (with one exception, which was also problematic on a recently acquired Core Ultra 7 Intel laptop) were easily found and proper drivers installed under Windows 11 through a network search. ARM 64 native versions of the Chrome browser, Zoom Workplace, VLC Media player, my VPN client, and a beta version of DaVinci Resolve were located and installed without incident. I have also installed the free version of Adobe Acrobat, which appears to be a 64-bit version of that App running under emulation. It runs without issue. Running Windows Task Manager in a detailed view will let you see which apps are running natively, and which apps are running under emulation.Various other apps including Netflix, Paramount+, Amazon Prime, HD Homerun, and Hulu were installed through the Microsoft Store. All work perfectly. Given the great impetus created by Microsoft’s development of Copilot+PCs and with so many manufacturers adopting the new architecture, many more native applications will be available soon. There are some limits to what emulation can run, especially with older programs. I tried installing a 32-bit application which I have used for many years to edit videos, VideoReDo. I hoped it might run under emulation but was not surprised it didn’t.The keyboard cover and pen, if you use one or both, each costs extra. I tested the Microsoft - Surface Slim Pen (2nd Edition) and Pro Keyboard for Pro (11th Edition) which BestBuy offers as a package for a reasonable but still significant $280. I would not consider buying the Surface device alone without a keyboard cover (which also has a trackpad). You need this tool to fully enjoy the benefits of having a compact device which runs the full Windows operating system on ARM.You should note that the keyboard in the package I mentioned is NOT the new Bluetooth Flex keyboard which can be totally detached from the tablet and still connect to the tablet through Bluetooth. You’ll have to pay even more for the convenience of the Flex, if that feature appeals to you. It is $350 and DOES NOT come with a pen, although it has a well to store one if you already have it.Good news if you already have one of the Signature keyboards originally designed for Surface 8, 9 and Surface X- they all have a well for holding a pen and will work on this Copilot device, minus only the Copilot key. Not having to invest in a new keyboard would put the buyer in a position to move up to the Snapdragon Elite processor for about a hundred dollars more than the cost of the device and a new keyboard or stepping down to the base model to save some dollars and get a little more battery life. Either of those choices are going to be tempting to a buyer who already has a Signature keyboard. As you may have gathered, I am excited about this product. This model is by far the best Surface tablet I have ever used, and I am enjoying it more every day. Highly recommended for Surface fans!... Show more

Also, it offers HDR support as well for a bright and sharp picture. Altogether, it offers a really good experience watching videos, reading documents and working with various office programs. The screen aspect ratio is 3:2, which offers a better view for documents or browsers. It offers Windows Hello, and I have to say that it is the quickest at identifying your face than any other computer I’ve used before with Windows Hello – as soon as you see the camera blink to scan your face, it opens the screen instantly. It has two 2-watt speakers directed to the front with Dolby Atmos, and for me, the best sound I’ve heard from a 2-in-1 device, or laptop in my experience. I’m not saying there aren’t some out there with even better sound, but in my experience dealing with various tablets, laptops and 2-in-ones, it’s the best sound I’ve heard. The speakers can reach 82.4 dB without distortion and are more than loud enough to be heard in a noisy environment. But it isn’t just loudness of sound, but very good quality and richness of sound for such a device.Although there aren’t a lot of ports on the Surface Pro, the ones available are powerful. There are 2 USB-C 4 ports (fully as capable as Thunderbolt 4 ports without the Thunderbolt name, which belongs to Intel and not Microsoft). These powerful ports can be used to run Thunderbolt docks or just USB-C 4 docks for as many peripherals as you need. The Surface Pro has a proprietary charging port (65 watts and fast charging), but you can more slowly charge your Surface Pro through the lower USB-C port (lower of the two) on the left side of the device – the charging port is on the right side of the device. If you use your Surface Pro 11 as your desktop, it will power two external monitors as well plus your other devices.Regarding battery life, you can read all sorts of reports on the web about that. Suffice it to say for my part, my first day I turned on my Surface Pro 11 at 5AM with my battery at 100% and when I shut it down at 9:30PM it had 34% left. I was doing updates, allowing OneDrive to copy over everything onto my device and generally doing ordinary office work off and on during that time along with researching with the browser. Admittedly, none of this was a continuous heavy load which would have caused the battery to run down sooner. Doing more regular work during a couple of days, my battery rate looked like this: 8:19AM to 5:04 PM from 100% to 22%, 8:20 AM to 5:54PM 100% to 31%. Obviously, your battery usage will vary, but I believe that the Surface Pro 11 will get you through the normal work or class day without having to recharge assuming you’re running on battery all day. But, if you have to recharge, using the proprietary charger will have you going from about 30% to 100% in about 1.5 hours. My Surface Pro 11 comes with a speedy 512 GB SSD that is easily upgradeable through a nifty plate that comes off the back of the device located under the built-in kickstand that Surface Pro’s have been noted for since the first one. Popping open the plate shows the SSD that can be removed without opening the device further.A review of my Surface Pro 11 wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the Snapdragon X Plus processor. It is the slightly less powerful processor compared to the version offering the Snapdragon X Elite processor. I have to say that others have commented online that in ordinary use, they cannot tell the difference when using the Plus processor. I only mention that here to say that I’ve not used a Surface Pro 11 with the Elite processor, but I think the online comments are correct. If you look at the specs of both processors and watch others use them, you really can’t see a difference other than what may show on some of the bench tests. My experience with the lower priced Plus version is that the device is snappy in every respect. Windows open quickly and the various processes you set in motion do not exhibit slowness of any sort. In real world use I seriously doubt the actual user is going to be aware of the small difference between these two processors. The real point talking about the Snapdragon processors is to say that they are ARM processors and not Intel or AMD processors found on nearly every computer you’ve heard about until this year. Snapdragon ARM chips and their ilk run just as fast or even faster than x86 chips, but they require less energy and produce less heat in use – your phones and tablets generally run on ARM chips. But ARM processors require software written for them and not x86 processors. There is good availability for software to run on the Surface Pro 11 with more coming this year. I use Microsoft’s 365 Office Suite and they all run perfectly. In fact, I run a number of other programs that run properly as well. To do this in the interim requires an emulator (virtual system allowing programs written for Intel and AMD to run on the Surface Pro 11’s ARM Snapdragon chip). Those programs I use that are not written yet for ARM run perfectly fine on Microsoft’s emulator named Prism. In fact, I can’t tell the difference running these non-ARM programs on my Surface Pro 11 with Prism compared to running them on my Intel based laptop. Based on my experience, you’ll probably not find a problem running your usual stuff on the Surface Pro 11. I would also say that if you’re into heavy graphics/video/photo/audio editing or gaming, you need to check with the manufacturers of the special use software you use to see if it is compatible with ARM at this time.Lastly, a few words about AI. The Surface Pro 11 has a NPU (Neural Processing Unit – read, ‘dedicated processor for running AI work’) so it can handle AI programming separately from the work you CPU ordinarily handles. Some of the AI features available on the Surface Pro 11 are:Paint’s Cocreator – you can do a stick drawing or slightly better if you have the talent, include a bit of text input to guide it as to what you’d like, and it will produce a “better” image of what you’re trying to draw. Then you can give it a little more input to have it increase the quality of the picture you’re looking for. Certainly, the product could be used to illustrate an article if needed. Of course, just asking CoPilot (launched from your task bar) for an image based upon your text input will probably get you a better image overall.Photos App – you can do as mentioned above with your photos in the Photos app where you have a little better interface to work with on your photos.Live Captions – if you have any video to play, or you’re receiving live streaming, it will display subtitles of what is being said for you to read if needed, but if you’re not just using any computer running the web app version of CoPilot for the subtitles, the NPU on the Surface Pro 11 will enable translation of about 44 languages into English from any audio you’re receiving from a video on your device you’re watching or that is being streamed live to you through your Surface Pro 11. Sometimes the translation can hitch a bit, but that is expected with any translation software I’ve heard of.Windows Studio Effects – this AI app allows you, during video calls, to adjust your light exposure if you need additional or less light and provide automatic framing (keeping the camera on your face if you’re moving around during the video call) as well. In addition, it will show your eyes in contact with the other party(s) involved in the call even if you’re looking off to the side at notes or a teleprompter! It also offers several degrees of background blur if you don’t want your space to distract from your call or provide too much personal detail around you to others on the video call. This app works quite well in all respects, but at this time many video conferencing apps provide similar tools, so this isn’t just available through CoPilot’s AI.Here’s my bottom-line on all this: The Surface Pro 11 CoPilot + PC is a great & powerful device. The AI capability is disappointing & limited & hamstrung for such an ice-breaking device.... Show more

I'm currently still using my Surface Pro 4 from quite a few years ago now and it still performs great, so I'm expecting this 11th edition of the Surface Pro line will last me well into the future. The most noted change with this iteration of the Surface Pro line is the switch from Intel CPU to the Qualcomm Snapdragon X series CPU/GPU/NPU line of processors which is a major shift for Microsoft and the industry in general with the new CoPilot+ PC's.The device is super lightweight and thin. It's solid, well-built and has a premium feel to is with the metal case similar to previous Surface Pro's. The integration of the detachable keyboard that magnetically attaches to the device with the signature "snap" is second to none. Easy to detach when needed to have a truly tablet experience or quickly snap back onto the device for when a keyboard and trackpad are preferred. This latest keyboard houses a stylus pen that fits into a little magnetic slot at the top of the keyboard and hides away when not needed. The pen feels comfortable to use and fits perfectly in the writing hand even with it's flatter design. It would be nice if Microsoft included the keyboard with the device as it's a pretty essential piece in the Surface experience. The keyboard is backlit and feels comfortable to type on. The keys have a nice tactile feel to them for such a thin keyboard. The trackpad is smooth and responsive. Not quite as large as on some 13 inch devices I've seen, but a decent size. The keyboard is powered by the Surface device so it has to be attached to use it. It magnetically snaps into an inclined position or can lay flat if desired to access the pen slot. It also provides screen protection in the closed mode.Setup of the device was pretty standard Windows 11 setup. Very easy and smooth initial setup and installing of the most recent updates. There are quite a few updates but the entire setup / update process only takes about 30 minutes with a broadband connection. With the 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB SSD combined with the Snapdragon X Plus CPU Windows 11 runs very smoothly as well as any application I threw at it from browsing the web, running Office applications, CoPilot+ AI features and even some 3D gaming with the Qualcomm Adreno GPU! I know this isn't a device one would normally associate with gaming, but the Qualcomm Adreno integrated GPU actually handles some games like Tomb Raider, Terraria, Control, Diablo 4 at playable rates so that is a really nice bonus for this ultra-portable take everywhere device. Some games do not like the non-Intel CPU but it seems the majority that I tried were OK with it and ran just fine. With the ultra-high resolution of the 13" display sometimes you need to mess with the display options in the game settings, but once those are dialed in things actually ran pretty smoothly. Quite impressive for such a thin device! The 13" PixelSense Flow touchscreen display sports a resolution of 2880 x 1920 and looks very sharp and has plenty of brightness levels for low or high light conditions. The all-glass design will have some ambient reflections in brighter conditions, but that can be compensated for by increasing the display brightness. As a touchscreen it's responsive and smooth. The Surface Pen interacts with the screen smoothly and is great for drawing and interacting with applications. The device comes with the traditional Surface Pro charging cord and power brick which is small and makes charging quick without adding much weight to the overall space needed when carrying the device. I was able to also charge with my older Surface Pro charger but it was slower charging than the new brick. I did not try this but it apparently charges with a standard USB-C charger albeit at a slower rate depending on the power of the USB-C charger. Nice to have the option if you leave the proprietary charger at home. The device has a little magnetic trapdoor on the back that provides access to the 512 GB SSD which is nice if you want to upgrade that at some point. There aren't many other ports on the device other than 2 USB-C 4 ports on the left and the proprietary MS charging port on the right. It has built-in WiFi 7 and Bluetooth and can drive up to 3 4K monitors, which is impressive! The signature foldable flap feels solid and allows the device to be positioned at just a slight incline above a surface to more upright angles and then tucks away flat into the device when not needed. The new CoPilot+ AI Features are interesting to use with the integrated NPU. From image manipulation and creation using AI prompts to camera effects to audio language translation in real-time it feels like you have an always there assistant ready to help you when you need it. Quickly sketching up a line drawing with the Surface pen in Paint and then using prompts to generate a professional looking image is super handy!Battery life seems really good with an hour of full screen movie watching on medium brightness using about 10% battery per hour. Using power-saving mode would extend that even further. The audio quality is really good for such a thin and lightweight device! Plenty of volume and clarity.Overall I'm super excited to have this new 11th generation Surface Pro in my hands and can retire my Surface Pro 4. This new Surface with the Snapdragon processor and NPU seems well positioned to take me years into the future as Microsoft and the industry continue to use and extend AI capabilities into applications and Windows. Highly recommend the Surface Pro devices and this new one is no exception to that!... Show more

Great device, a few 1st gen hiccups.
6 July 2024
So far this has been a surprisingly painless experience. It's my first foray into an ARM powered windows machine, and so far the experience has been almost indistinguishable from a typical x86 machine. There are a few hiccups, some x86 programs don't run well emulated (or at all), although they're usually niche things that most people don't need. Also, because Windows on ARM isn't quite mainstream, it can be hard to find programs compiled for it - I had to go to a few different websites to find Java 21 compiled for ARM. Most of this will be resolved with time however, and it's already quite usable.Regarding AI and Copilot+, honestly at the time of writing they're mostly just a gimmick. most of the available features are rather useless in daily usage. Most of this will be resolved with time however, and it's already quite usable.Regarding AI and Copilot+, honestly at the time of writing they're mostly just a gimmick. most of the available features are rather useless in daily usage. And in case this isn't clear to anyone, the copilot AI assistant does NOT run locally, it's purely cloud based. Won't even load without an internet connection. Studio effects (camera stuff) could be useful in online meetings, and live captions can be useful to view content in other languages. I hope to see some more useful features come out eventually, but right now it's mostly just a shiny new gimmick. The camera is great quality - compared to almost any other laptop webcam, this is in another class altogether. From what I've heard, Qualcomm actually has an image signal processor on the SOC, and typical x86 laptops rely on whatever cheap ISP is inside the webcam - which usually leads to really low quality, even if the webcam is "1080p" or even "4k". It also helps that the Surface Pro is a tablet form factor and has much more room for a quality image sensor.I was hoping to dual boot Linux, however at the time of writing the Snapdragon X aren't supported on Linux yet. As far as I'm aware, these chips are designed in such a way that you have to add support directly to the Linux kernel for each specific chip to be able to run it, which is unfortunate. However, Qualcomm is actively working on making Linux work with these chips - which is really nice to see.Now to the device - The OLED screen is gorgeous, brightness is great - even sufficient outdoors (at least in shade, haven't tested in direct sunlight). As it is a touchscreen device, there is a slight pattern from the digitizer visible up close to the screen - I can only see it from distances unreasonable for any average user (say, 6-8 inches away from the screen). HDR looks great, 120hz is fluid, VRR provides a nice power saving option.Battery life has been pretty good compared to some other laptops I've owned, it lasted quite awhile even streaming HD content for hours. The build is solid, the hinge feels pretty durable. The power and volume buttons are plastic which is a slight disappointment but not a huge issue. The SSD is easily accessible through a magnetically attached door, which is great to see from a repairability standpoint, albeit a little odd.The form factor is a bit uncomfortable sometimes, it's a bit hard to use they keyboard cover if you're not at a desk or table. As a tablet it works great wherever though, as most tablets do. Windows is fairly usable touch only, minus a few UI quirks. You tap with two fingers to "right click," but if you need to do that with any sort of precision then you long press with a single finger - unfortunately there's no haptics, sound, or visual indicator to let you know it's been long enough, so you end up wasting time holding it too long. Could get used to it with time, but an indicator of any kind would be a much better option.Overall it's a great device, just needs a bit of time for software to catch up.... Show more

Great device with AI features

The set-up was quick, and it recognized and connected to our wireless network without any issues. By this point I was already impressed because of how fast the Surface Pro processes things. The Microsoft 365 apps have been preinstalled and all I had to do was sign up on my Microsoft account to activate the apps. I also installed other entertainment apps as I plan on using this device to watch videos as well as play music. Video quality is really good with the 13 inch screen with QHD screen resolution. Sound from its built-in speaker is loud at the highest setting but could be better quality though, but not an issue for me since I use an external speaker for this purpose. As for the Copilot features - I like that there is dedicated Copilot key on the keyboard, by the way - there are ton of possibilities and I have yet to utilize them! I have used Copilot and ChatGPT on my work laptop and have attended some online classes on prompting, so I can say I have a little bit of background on how to use GenAI. The integration of Copilot into the Surface Pro is the convenience I am looking for in a personal laptop. If I could share a quick tip that would be to play around and practice better prompting so that Copilot will generate the content that you want and ask for. In the Surface Pro Copilot+ PC, with just one press of a button, the Copilot app gets powered up and you can enjoy endless possibilities ranging from text rewrites, summarization, image generation, language translations, and so on.This is one device that I am sure I will use for a long time, apart from my work pc. Its sleek and slim design as well as better battery life and remarkable performance make this device very portable and powerful for on-the-go productivity.... Show more

The Surface Pro 11th edition is the latest edition in Microsoft’s attempt to move away from the traditional Intel or AMD based devices. This Surface Pro runs on the Qualcomm-based Snapdragon X Elite chip that benchmarks in line with Apple chips. What that means is that this is an ARM-based processor, so you need to make sure what running an ARM-based computer means. Your “normal” laptop runs off either and x86 or x64 architecture which are based on Intel and AMD. With this offering of the Snapdragon processor, normal Windows programs are emulated on this Surface. With the typical Windows apps that everyone loves and uses, it does an excellent job running those apps without lag. Office apps such as Word, Excel, and Powerpoint run like a champ. Adobe line of products such as Photoshop and Illustrator run fine. Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Brave web browser also run no issues. Every typical productivity and entertainment app runs well on the Surface Pro Snapdragon X processor without an issue. What you might have issues with is with peripheral devices that need drivers. Certain printers, audio interfaces, capture cards that need more than your standard Windows drivers might have compatibility issues rendering them useless. So, if you are thinking about purchasing a Surface Pro with the Snapdragon processor, remember the use case of this computer, a lightweight, thin, long lasting productivity and entertainment device and you will not be disappointed. If you are looking to do absolutely everything you once could do on a regular PC, you might want to do some research to find out if all your devices will work.Another interesting thing about this Surface Pro is the addition of a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that helps the computer process Artificial Intelligence (AI) instructions faster. What this really means is that when you use the Copilot feature on these new Copilot+ PC it executes the AI tasks much faster than relying solely on the internet. The most impressive feature of having the NPU on board is the Live Translate feature. All too common you pull up a video on YouTube or some other source where you cannot understand the language. Pull up the Live Translate feature and you get real-time captioning in your preferred language. Another cool feature is CoCreator in Microsoft Paint. You can describe what you want to create and then start drawing a sketch and then the AI artistically produces what it thinks you were thinking. Using the CoPilot button, you can ask the AI to help you write a product description based on a picture of an item and it saves you an hour trying to write something meaningful. One problem with the CoPilot camera is that only the camera facing you works, not the back camera. Perhaps a software update will enable that feature someday. Is all the AI built into this Surface Pro a gimmick? Maybe, but it’s nice to have at your disposal if you need it.... Show more

The front facing camera has face tracking and is utilized for Windows Hello facial recognition. Both the cameras takes good quality photos and video and works nicely for video conferencing as well. Not to forget the new optimized Windows 11, the Surface Pro has a all-new Start menu with improved connectivity options. As with everything these days, we can't ignore AI and this has AI-Enhanced features that incorporates AI throughout its functions, from the Surface Studio Camera with automatic framing to the Surface Slim Pen enhanced by AI. These features empower me to turn ideas into artwork with generative AI tools. The battery life is unbelievable as it easily last up to 14 hours which is not common for a laptop but this one easily surpass that expectation. For connectivity, this comes with two USB-C 4 ports and support for up to three 4K monitors at 60Hz, the Surface Pro ensures versatile connectivity for peripherals and external displays.Overall I'm absolutely loving it! The Dune-colored Surface Pro keyboard is equally versatile, seamlessly attaching and detaching from the tablet. Its magnetic connector allows flexible positioning for comfortable typing, or lays flat to reveal the Slim Pen neatly stored in its tray (see attached pictures). The Alcantara material covering the keyboard, akin to a high-quality felt, not only feels soft but also ensures stability on any surface. I particularly appreciate the backlit keyboard with adjustable brightness levels, enhancing usability in different environments.Setting up the Surface Pro was straightforward, with Windows seamlessly restoring my previous computer’s settings, ensuring instant familiarity. The OLED display is stunning, delivering crisp details and vibrant colors, perfect for video editing tasks. Downloading various video editing programs and creating/editing videos has been a great experience thus far. Thanks to the Snapdragon X Elite processor, creating and saving videos has been exceptionally fast and enjoyable.Accessing the Copilot AI assistant, integrated into the keyboard, has been effortless. While I’ve only scratched the surface with Copilot my experience thus far has shown it to be intuitively useful and powerful. The Surface Pro’s versatility shines whether in tablet mode with its responsive touchscreen or as a laptop with the attached keyboard for typing tasks. Battery life has been excellent, I’ve used it all day unplugged and still have around 50% battery left.I’ve not used a Slim Pen before, I’ve been a laptop/mouse guy forever but I gotta say, I really like the functionality of the pen. Managing files and other functions become very easy in lieu of a mouse. See that? Turns out you can teach an old dog new tricks, love the Slim Pen.In my opinion, the Surface Pro is a premium computing product. Its blend of design, usability, and processing power places it at the forefront compared to the numerous laptops and tablets I’ve used in the past.... Show more
