A great device for travel... Perhaps a must have. It functions very well for daily tasks, and handles multi-tasking nearly effortlessly. I have not used it for industrial level programs like CAD or Photoshop, but I routinely run Office, Firefox, Chrome and iTunes concurrently, and it keeps up. I have tried some light VM operations with Virtual Box, and that runs into a noticeable handicap thanks to the display resolution and could benefit from a true quad-core i5. But the biggest handicaps of the system, which are the loss of a star rating, come down to two things; the excessive costs of extra RAM and Storage, and the Windows 10 OS. Quite honestly, I wish I could give Apple [Mac] OS a full run on the device. But for that matter, I wish I could run a regular Apple OS ... MoreA great device for travel... Perhaps a must have. LONG but WORTH reading! This is my second Surface. In 2014 I bought Surface Pro 3 which served me very well and I loved it! But after 5 years it suddenly died, and it died with no reason at all. It simply did not turn on and $1,500 in 2014 turned into nothing in 2019. The computer was diagnosed and according to BestBuy the turn on switch connected to the motherboard got faulty. But the replacement parts were not available any more. I went to Microsoft and they offered me Surface Pro 4 at a discounted price, but at the same time I learned that the parts for Pro 4 were not available any more, so I if it died I would say good bye to $1,000. I got super angry and disappointed, and I said to myself; Surface? Never again! But I still had a very nice keyboard and a pen, so when Pro 6 went on sale, I bought it again. The new i5 processor is 2.76x faster then the old i5-4300u. Passmark 10 showed the the score of Pro 3 - 1223, jumped to 2087 in case of Pro 6. A year ago my wife bought a beautiful Huawei with i7, 16GB of RAM and 512SSD, all for $2,000, which was a great deal. Now I have for half the price Pro 6 (i5, 8GB RAM, 256SSD) that is almost as powerful as HUAWEI MateBook X Pro (Passmark 2087 vs 2183 for Huawei), and so far I am very happy with it. So you may have a question - why 4 starts instead of 5? The reason is simple. I don't see Surface as a very reliable computer. Now I am still good as I have 2 year warranty - one by manufacturer and one extra thanks to my credit card - but after two years if it dies one day, I know that fixing it will be very costly or impossible again. As a quick summary I will write: a lovely computer, but with a risk.

Great product if you need extra portability and/or you're an artist. The selling point for me was that it's fanless, so, no noise and no overheat issues caused by dust. Note that passive cooling presents only at i5 versions of Surface Pro 6. Also there are no monitor-to-base bending cables, that are common failure cause on regular laptops. It's deffinately not for intense gaming. but it will run graphically undemanding games. There are few downsides in software: 1) For some reason Microsoft didn't create a customizable touch keyboard with floating and transparent keys - for games and other apps requiring keyboard usage, that don't support touch input (99,99% of them). And there is no reliable 3-rd party software for that purpose by now. 2) Initial updates are crazy: ... MoreGreat product if you need extra portability and/or you're an artist. And there were 30 Gb debris (restore points, old updates backups, etc.) after it's done. I had to use Disk Cleanup to get rid of it. Not sure what inexperienced users should do in this scenario. And would it be safe for them to use the device when it's not even telling that it's updating and extensively using hard drive and processor to install/backup/check consistensy during the update. Overall the device is good, and if you know what you're buying when you choose Windows OS - you'll be happy with it.

I was skeptical that this would be a good value. it's used and the price was really low, so I thought there might be serious flaws. Nope! I purchased a Surface RT a few years ago and have used it ever since. The reason I bought this is more memory, Windows 10 (which I have on my desktop computing system, weight, adaptability to both tablet and PC, as well as the pen for more creative work (with photos, etc.). This particular SP is in excellent condition and included the keyboard cover, as well. It's small enough to pack away in carry-on, or for a day out with my cameras, yet has enough power and the reliability of Windows 10 that I can transfer work from my desktop to the SP and take it "to go." I love the screen size - just right; keyboard cover is sensitive and thin, but not shoddy; apps are plentiful (finally); it's wifi, Bluetooth enabled and with a dock I can connect it to Ethernet if need be and plug in all my USB devices. I also really, really appreciate the USB drive, since I transfer reading material and photos from my desktop to these (or to my cloud). The other thing I really like is Microsoft/Windows old standby programs and apps that never fail me: Windows Media Player, the Office suite of programs, and Microsoft security features. Overall, this is just a gem, at a great price with fantastic extras, well cared-for!
Having owned and used previous iterations of the Surface Pro line, I was always left with a sense of disappointment. Now don't get me wrong, the design and improvements over the generations have been very welcome, but dual core CPU was always the one area that could have been improved upon. The Surface Pro 2017 offerings, did improve things significantly with the fan less Intel Core i5 models, so when Microsoft announced the Surface Pro 6 with Quad Core Intel Core CPU, with Hyper threading and Turbo Boost 2.0 capabilities, I was seriously interested. Long story short? While many reviews go on endlessly about the lack of USB-C ports, the Surface Pro 6 is an absolute powerhouse machine, finally delivering everything the Surface Pro promised to deliver. The ports on offer are compatible with all my current gear. I have no plans to upgrade them yet, they're still working perfectly well. If you need USB-C, there are adapters out there which connect to the Surface port and offers fast throughput should you require it. I've taken a while to write this review, because I really wanted to test the Surface Pro 6 fully and it has never let me down. Photoshop, Lightroom, On1 Photo RAW 2019, Luminar 3 all run beautifully with no obvious lag or overheating issues. I opted for the mid rangeSurface Pro 6 with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD and it is an absolute delight to use. Windows 10 Home, was quickly upgraded to the Pro version through the Windows Store, but for most users Windows 10 Home, will be more than you need. It runs fast and fluidly. As a Mac user, some may wonder why I ever went down the Surface Pro path. The answer is simple, the Surface Pro offers the most capable and compact desktop experience bar none IMHO. When combined with Signature Type Cover, Pen and Microsoft Arc Mouse, this really is a take everywhere device. In fact the Surface Pro 6 has very quickly become my daily driver. It is my go to device. If you're looking for a compact, lightweight, desktop class mobile solution, the Surface Pro 6 is well worth a look. Great battery life, excellent display and a vast array of desktop class software that can be installed, makes the Surface Pro 6 a serious option for ANY computer user.
So, I bought this refurbished Surface Pro 6. Turned it on and it is stuck on a start page asking for a specific region, but will not accept the yes when selected. I bought this Surface Pro 6 as a replacement for a notebook computer that died of old age. I was nervous about it since it was an open-box item. When I booted it up, I was even more nervous because the graphics seemed to be reversed. After unsuccessfully spending some time trying to trouble shoot the problem using the display settings, I searched online for information about the problem and discovered the correct setting (negative high contrast in the accessibility settings), and the display is now fine. The only complaint I have about the Surface 6 is that in spite of its small size (which is a plus), it is surprisingly heavy (not a plus). However, everything was well packed and the item did not look like it was in sound condition (other than the weird contrast setting. The price was extremely good, and I am glad overall that i purchased it.
Solid tablet performance running Win11 Pro. 8th gen Intel i5 does well, with an SSD drive. The biggest flaw with all of the surface line up is, they are throwaway units. To service one of these such as battery replacement, SSD upgrade, you have to remove the screen. Its a tedious process and risk cracking or ruining the digitizer. Performance wise you're on par with Dells. I like the dells a tad bit better, but they are not as readily available due to the lack luster sales.
I bought a Surface Pro 6 to replace a Pro 3. Despite trying 3 different monitors I have 2" black bars on the left and right of the projected image for all monitors. Called Microsoft since there is no "full-screen" option (it's there by default). They took control of my computer, downloaded drivers, downloaded docking station updates, and other things but nothing would work. They wasted weeks doing all of this so I cannot return the item within 30 days. They told me at the end there would be no problem if I bought an "approved" monitor. So I shelled out another $400 on a Dell monitor on their approved list but have the same problem. I've also tried the older docking station and the new hub which replaced it.If you are going to use the tablet as a PC by connecting a keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc. as this product is advertised, do NOT buy this product. The image is fine on the tablet itself, but when you project it to a monitor you cannot get a full-screen projection. All other things (keyboard, etc.) work fine. The monitors were not an issue with the Pro 3 so it is either the Pro 6 or Windows 10 that is the culprit and they have no solution to the problem. STAY AWAY if you intend to connect a monitor.
The tablet works fine despite it's age. It has been well used, there's some damages on the corners so I bought a case. The biggest issue is the screen: the edges are yellows. I don't know if something happened when they replaced the battery (the battery is new) but I'm scared that it might get worst. Time will tell.
