Microsoft Surface Pro 9 SQ3 (16GB 256GB) [Grade A]

I've had my Surface Pro 9 for a year now, and have used it on pretty much a daily basis. There are things that I love, and some snags that keep this from being a 5 star review.What I love;1. I travel frequently for work and where I go carry-on weight matters, so I was looking for a device that would function as my computer for work, my personal computer, my e-reader, and my tablet - and the Surface Pro 9 seemed to fit the bill. A year later and it definitely fits the bill. It does everything I need, and does it well.2. Lightning fast restart time. It's so easy to switch between states, and the Pen 2 Slim is comfortable to hold for long note taking sessions at times where the sound of typing would be distracting.5. The stand is solid. I've never had an issue with the stand slipping or changing position while in use unless someone physically changes the position. This is a detail that I absolutely appreciate, having fallen victim to flimsy stands in the past (I'm looking at you and the built in stand on the original Switch, Nintendo.)After 12 months, I generally and genuinely love it, and would absolutely upgrade to whatever model of Surface Pro is around when it's time to retire this one. It does everything I need within reason, flawlessly. There are a few caveats though.The (few) snags:1. No double tap to wake. This is pretty standard technology at this point, and I realise that it's the epitome of first world problems, but it's frustrating to double tap on the screen and then have to press the power button (usually twice because of the proximity of the power and volume buttons.) There's every reason for Microsoft to get it together and push the feature to all devices, not just some Pro 9's and not others, seemingly without rhyme or reason.2. The charger sucks beyond measure. I cannot properly articulate how awful this charger is, but I'll try. It's inaccessible, hard to get seated properly, the magnetized end of the charger will stick to the side of the device every which way but snapping the charger into the port easily the way it's meant to, and will fall out if you look at it too much, don't look at it enough, or think about it in general. Great on paper, not great in practise. Ditching the proprietary charger for a standard USB-C fast charger would be so much more secure and accessible for those with hand dexterity issues.3. The bluetooth on the Pro 9 can be a bit unreliable, and does occasionally require a restart of both the device and connected device. A minor complaint, but all in all an inconvenience more than anything.If you can overlook those couple of snags, than you'll likely find that the Surface Pro 9 is worth the expense.

The Microsoft WIndows Pro 9 is a very user friendly and neat laptop. However, we purchased WIndows 365 with it but could not install. When we phoned Best Buy Help Line (Geek Squad) they would not help without charging a fee. Likewise, when I first went to the store, I received the same response. However, when I walked in the Markville store the second time, a different Geek Squad staff was very helpful this time, took the time to listen and figured out why I could not install Windows 365 - because when it was purchased the sales person did not scan the code on the 365 subscription card! He then asked the cashier to re-do the receipt so that they could scan the W365 code. Excellent! Does everything I need for work and home, lightweight and functional. Only minor issue I've experienced once in a while is overheating/video issues whilst on back to back Zooms but if you close other windows it's usually ok. To be expected for a tablet that doesn't have as much space for heat dispersion as a laptop. I like it so much though, I'm considering getting another one for a second screen/device to use whilst in meetings and also allow me to write on whiteboard/take notes. Will be good when hopefully next release in Oct might provide a bit more RAM at the lower price point for the rare occasions/software which require a bit more grunt. Then it'll truly be able to be a complete laptop replacer for me.
