An excellent vacuum that will largely replace your plug-in vac. I’ve been part of the Dyson family for years, but their stick vacuums frankly feel a little plastic-y and, while somewhat effective, are not a true substitute for a real vacuum cleaner. This thing is super effective. Even on low, it cleans very thoroughly. It’s a quality piece of gear. On the negative side, it is heavy (quite a bit more than Dyson), but I don’t really mind since the added weight seems to result in a robust, effective vacuum. Cleaning it is a bit fiddly, but no more so than a Dyson. It’s important to remember, of course, that certain parts (particularly the pleated HEPA filter) should never get wet; you clean it by knocking it against a solid surface. It was this or the Dyson v10 and I'm glad I went with this instead. If you compare the two, the Miele has stronger and sturdier plastic. I like that it has 3 suction types and there are 3 different ways you can put your vacuum together. The head is a lot better at picking up hair and I haven't had an issue with hair getting caught - I used to have the dyson v8 and it was awful for hair. It is a surprisingly powerful vacuum. My apartment is mostly carpeted and it's just taken so much dust out of it that it looks like a brand new carpet. The only thing I don't like is the waste bin - like yes it feels better built. It doesn't feel as flimsy as the Dyson with the "point and shoot" empty. But you have to twist it for the bottom to come off which doesn't feel as intuitive.

I don’t usually mention the obvious marketing stuff but it’s the little things that matter to me sometimes, like the bin: the easiest to empty, with the Dyson not only I had to walk the whole unit to outdoor bin, it didn’t fit in smaller bin without removing bins cover, this fits perfectly with one motion emptying. The motor on bottom design not only is more comfortable on wrist, and solid feel, but also the motor is closest to vac head so naturally there’s even better suction, and the weight of the unit is right on the vac head which makes total sense to “lock push head in”. Another small thing: with the Dyson it had those cheap plasticky small wheels but also rests on very small felts! Soon After felt wears out it will drag on the plastic head! The worst experience for a vac and scratches my stone floor while my gripping it, someone would think well just change the head, instead I upgraded to this Miele and so glad I did!! It just feels much better using it with one hand! Effortless, and had large back wheels + front wheels + felt, so it will last a very long time, another reason I hated the v8 cause the battery just sunk to unusable levels with a frustrated wife, Miele: u can swap batteries, some people complain of price I got it on special $599 thanks to bing lee, which was 2-300$ cheaper than the closest Dyson, my home size is average so battery is plenty, I don’t have pets or carpet!! So I don’t really need the higher models! Ok more good stuff: Infinitely more quiet! (this is honestly a deal breaker for me As the Dyson and the vac before it used to pierce my ears with high frequency noise while my wife vaccumed, I can turn this on next to a sleeping baby!). There’s no switch to hold, just click and rest your finger. The brush size is wide and efficient. The lowest suction is enough for every day dusting hard floors. This is the first vac that actually cleaned my car, the Dyson was hopeless and overheated (drains much quicker on max), so I just stopped using it for the car! U don’t need to wash the filter, I used to hate washing the v8 filter because u had to stop using it until dries 100% so I had to buy another spare filter, can’t believe people complain of cleaning this filter it’s easiet thing, every now and then just pull it out and which house doesn’t have a blower I have mine just outside . 5 secs blowing and it’s brand new again. The electro brush is super easy to take out and clean yet nothing have dangled in there yet (no need for screwdriver or tool). I hated the design of v8 head a lot of dust and hair used to get stuck between roller and that curve leading into suction tube. The upholstery tool is very effective, and u can use all other tools from other Miele accessories. The tools just slide in without need of clicking or unclicking. Just simply try both or any vac for that matter side by side and u will notice the difference. LAST BUT NOT LEAST the design is good looking and uses quality materials with parts firmly put together. Just feels better quality. So I simply cannot fault this in any way if I was to nit pick I would just criticise the bin size, not to increase size (as this will increase weight), just make a bigger gap between Center filter and outer cylinder so dirt falls more easily, but again this is no major concern to me but possibly for pet hair, I’m sure they will redesign this in next model.

Cannot Fault this Vacuum - reeaaallyy hope it last

This vacuum has excellent suction and battery life. The dust can is easy to remove and empty. It moves around furniture and onto different floor surfaces effortlessly. Changing the configuration to handheld is easy if you lightly place your foot on the brush head while pulling the handle and shaft apart. It looks good wall mounted. It’s not a featherweight but I don’t find it too heavy to do my entire house with at all. Read the instructions thoroughly to maximise how great this unit is to use. I’m keen to see if over the years the battery continues to hold it’s charge as that’s the problem I’ve had with previous cordless vacuums. I’ve just come from using 3 different Bosch cordless vacuums over the last 8 years as they kept having problems and I think Miele is a ... MoreThis vacuum has excellent suction and battery life. Cleans exceptionally well

PROS: I haven't seen a vacuum clean up hidden debris this well since my mother's Swedish canister vacuum of the 1960s, which my little brother used to gleefully ride (a no-no). I'm done buying other stick vacuums that cost $150, last only 12-18 months, and do poorly in the last few months. I'm done feeling grit under my feet even after a vacuuming. This Miele stick vacuum is effectively removing the fine dust that has accumulated in the grooves of my hardwood floors. It has cleaned my wool area rugs so well that the beautiful patterns and colors are now restored. The attached picture shows the fine dirt and residual hair (yes I have a dog) the Miele found less than 24 hours after the last vacuuming by the $150 stick. I love the quietness of the Miele as I am ... MorePROS: I haven't seen a vacuum clean up hidden debris this well since my mother's Swedish canister vacuum of the 1960s, which my little brother used to gleefully ride (a no-no). The attached picture shows the fine dirt and residual hair (yes I have a dog) the Miele found less than 24 hours after the last vacuuming by the $150 stick. I love the quietness of the Miele as I am noise-sensitive and this doesn't whine like others. I love that this Miele does not make me tired and sore after a short vacuuming (1150 sf of hardwood, ceramic tile, and smaller area rugs). I have the canister on the lower portion and it creates little to no strain on my lower back or my shoulders ( I am tall and not 20 anymore). It has a low enough profile to get under a good portion of my sofas, beds, and other furniture. This Miele stick vacuum is easy to maneuver, even with my non-dominant hand. CONS: As many others have noted, it's a bugger to empty the basket. I have a little knowledge of the German language, but I doubt it would help, so I reserve my German for a few cuss words. Both of us have read the instructions multiple times, looked carefully at the back of the book diagrams repeatedly and we literally practiced together 4-5 times each on emptying and reassembling the basket and accompanying parts. He remains a bit wary as he doesn't want to man-handle and accidentally break it. It takes practice and lots of patience, steady but sure, to become comfortable with this process. But it is well worth the effort because this Miele stick vacuum is exceptionally good at clean-up. The only other CON is the price. Using my store coupon, I was able to save $100. If this Miele continues to perform well 3 years from now, I will at least break even in cost when compared to my previously purchased $150 sticks, and the cleaning results will be superior if current performance continues. Time will tell.

Good Vacuum. I ABHOR emptying debris bin. Need extra battery.

I would give 3 1/2 stars. Good vacuum tho I intentionally avoid allowing it to suction long hair, pet fur, 'dust bunnies' and lint because I abhor emptying the debris receptacle/bin. Sounds like it defeats the purpose doesn't it? I'm still glad I purchased the vacuum. It's better than a dust-mop tho the trade off for being cordless is the debris receptacle/bin design. it needs to have a bag. It feels very unclean to empty the debris bin--you have to use your fingers to pull out refuge that doesn't fall out on its own when you invert and tap the receptacle; ucch. And cleaning the filter is even more disgusting. You pull out the filter, tap it on the side of a waste can and very fine dirt falls/flies out of it-gross. The overall design is good for teeny particles, bad idea for hair, etc due to the filter smack in the middle of the debris bin. And, you need an extra battery to more than a couple rooms cleaned.

Happy so far - only used for a couple of weeks

Power, price and brand reputation were my main criteria when researching a replacement stick vacuum. I'm very happy with the power - it does a great job on both carpet and wooden floors, comparable with a cabled vacuum. It sucks a lot of dust! The nifty light really shows the dirt and I was astounded at the dust along the edges of walls. Once you've figured out how to empty it, it's pretty straight forward, including cleaning the filter. And you'll need to empty it regularly - it cleans a lot more than my old stick. The charger turns off 10 minutes after it's fully charged to avoid damaging the battery, and there's a charge indicator on the front of the stick so that you can see how much power you have left. I'm yet to exhaust the power whilst using it, and have only really needed to use it on low power. The tubes are a challenge (stiff) to slot together and take apart, and I'm hoping that they loosen over time. Silicone spray may help. Anyone with mobility/strength issues will really struggle with this because it's harder to change the barrel around if you want to use it as a hand held. Because I currently have nowhere to wall mount it, I need to have the barrel at the bottom because that is the only position in which the stick will stand independently whilst not in use. It's heavier than my previous stick, but that's the pay off if you want a more powerful model. Assembling with the barrel at the bottom does mitigate the weight. I can't comment on build quality (hence a 4 star review) after only a couple of weeks of use, but I was surprised that the stick is plastic - I hope that isn't an issue long term. My previous stick was metal. Overall, I'm very happy with my choice and I can tell that it does a fantastic job, as my 13 year old son will use it without complaint. Of final note, I ordered one day, and received it the next from friendly and efficient delivery drivers.

I absolutely love this hoover!
18 July 2022

My old corded hoover was slowly approaching the end of it's life. Eight years was by no means bad, but by this point, the tube had split, the seal was no longer airtight, and the power cord auto-rewind button broke (so it was always auto-rewinding). I've been wanting to get the corded CX1-Blizzard for quite a while now, but having used quite a few of these cordless vacuums at work (I'm a cleaner, and our company offers clients the choice to buy their own equipment to save money, so most do), and also due to a recent shoulder injury, I instead open for the cordless version, firstly to see how Miele's offering compares to other manufacturers, and also due to the text it should be much lighter than their corded solution. It's very lightweight - I can lift it with just my little finger (or pinky finger as it's called in Americaland for reasons unknown). When I went over my carpets, I was stunned it l at how much thick black dust it swept up with it's electro brush floor piece. It's as if my old hoover had been slacking off for years! It picked up so much dust, I had to empty the bin after each individual room, and this was on power setting 1 (of 3)! Then I decided to take it in to work. Most clients (upon my boss's advice) have Henry Hoovers. I don't find them much good, but I was prepared to put up with that. However my current shoulder injury means Henrys are just too heavy right now, they're like little bulldozers in terms of weight. My experience at home was replicated at work. Unbelievable amounts of thick black dust just from the lowest power setting, considering it's only been a week since I last cleaned this place, and again I was able to get through the task quicker than normal due to not having to constantly switch which plug socket I was plugged into. It also only briefly dropped into 2/3 battery charge, but it did help that it was on charge every moment I wasn't hoovering. All in all, very impressed. If it's able to tackle a commercial workload (which it did fairly effortlessly), then I can't imagine any domestic situation it won't work for. Brick dust is so I can really think of, and I think anyone doing that kind of work probably wouldn't use their normal everyday vacuum for that anyway. I do wish the bin was a bit bigger though, especially in comfort (bottom heavy) mode. The bin's diameter already means it won't fit under some furniture, so in that case a taller bin would allow it to go longer without having to stop. I'm going to be taking this to work more often. Even after my shoulder has healed, it makes the job that bit easier.

Miele Triflex HX1

Purchased this at local Best Buy on sale. It's certainly heavier than the average stick vacuum however, there are options as to how you can set it up: motor on the top or bottom. When the motor is on the bottom, the weight is less of a problem and in this setting, the vacuum can stand upright on its own. I've read reviews that it is loud however, I don't personally find that to be the case. The dirt this picks up is quite impressive. I have a Dyson stick and it doesn't compare to the Meile. I vacuumed carpets with the Dyson first, then again with the Meile. The Meile canister was almost full in 5 minutes. It picks up dirt and dust not visible to the naked eye and missed by the Dyson. Battery power is decent and based on professional reviews, the best on the market. ... MorePurchased this at local Best Buy on sale. Battery power is decent and based on professional reviews, the best on the market. On the lowest setting, Meile says you'll get 60 minutes. It takes about 4 hours to fully charge an empty battery. The dust canister is smallish, but I don't find this an issue as Melie uses a vortex to compact the dirt and dust. It is expensive but Melie says with good care, it'll last 20 years and it's made in Germany. So, you get what you pay for. I have a Meile canister vacuum and I fully believe this vacuum picks up more dirt than the canister. It's also very easy to reconfigure the vacuum to how you wish to use it. Also easy to empty the bin.

Upgraded and love it!

I have had this for over 12 months now and still works brilliantly! I upgraded from a Dyson v6 and the quality of the Miele absolutely outshines the flimsy Dyson! Even using newer Dyson models since the upgrade I feel confident that I made the right choice! I love that when the motor is in the bottom position it is able to stand on its own. No need to lean against the wall or bench, being how I often dropped the Dyson! It is also so easy to move around, other people complain that it’s heavy, but with the motor near the head it is much lighter and incredibly easy to manoeuvre. The design of the head gives it stability and direction, using a Dyson the head often flips around, but the Miele is much like using a standard vacuum, minus the bloody cord! Even with the motor at the bottom I can still get under the bed. It’s just a fabulous machine! My partner is even thrilled with it and often recommends it to people. Great suction, run time and functionality. No complaints from me, and will replace with the same or newer model when the time comes.
