Cordless buffer

This is a really cool tool, having no cord is amazing but it just doesn't have the power a good Ole fashion buffer has and it's probably best suited for shining up paint instead of buff out fresh paint and paint restoration but overall still pretty darn cool

Great polisher. Needs a couple minor tweaks
11 July 2022

Milwaukee’s entry in to the cordless polisher market for the professional detailing community is a worthy one. I had the pleasure of getting my hands on one of these and ran it through the paces on a motorcycle and an 18 foot boat. The kit comes complete with the 15mm polisher, 2-18v high output 6.0ah batteries, and a dual 12v/18v rapid charger inside a nice contractor bag.Upon unpacking everything and grabbing the tool, I noticed it was a tad heavier than my other professional brand cordless polisher. Nothing to cry over as it’s still within the weight range of other polishers that I own. I initially used my standard Milwaukee 18v battery to use the polisher on a Harley Davidson I was detailing for a customer while the batteries that came with it could charge. ... MoreMilwaukee’s entry in to the cordless polisher market for the professional detailing community is a worthy one. The polisher was a bit nose-heavy with this smaller battery, but again nothing that could not be compensated for. The first thing I noticed is the comfort of the trigger side of the tool. Everything is ergonomic and right there for the variable speed trigger, trigger lock, and 8-position speed control with RPMs labeled as opposed to numbers which is a nice touch. I went to work on the motorcycle polishing the saddle bags, body covers, ferrings, and fenders. Two handing the machine to polish was easy and comfortable. I was more impressed when I was able to operate the polisher with one hand over the front housing of the tool so I could hold parts in place on the table for polishing. The nose-heavy weight lent itself nicely to polishing contoured surfaces and over corners without pad stall. The tool itself has plenty of power. The only time I experienced pad stall was when I was attempting edge work just to see, and that’s when it stalled out like any other random orbit polisher. That’s what the tool is designed to do, so that people don’t get themselves in trouble and cause accidental damage. Moving on, I was able to finish polishing all surfaces of the bike with the one 18v battery which surprised me. Particularly since I was running on the sixth highest speed setting the entire time. The following day it was go time and really put this thing through the paces on an 18 foot boat. This time I used the included 6.0ah high output battery on the tool and it balanced perfectly and felt good front to back. Working on a painted aluminum boat, I cranked the speed to full 5100rpm and went to down. Again, testing the power, I began to push on the machine to try make it stall. Only when I put my full weight in to the machine would it stall out. YEAH BABY! Using improper polishing technique by pitching the tool forward or backward to put the pad on edge will stall the pad rotation, but again that’s the design of the tool and why a random orbit is safe for the novice DIY’r over a rotary and not burning paint or damaging the surface. I continued on with the polisher on 5100rpm and using a good amount of pressure to correct the old paint on the boat. As I got to the end of the other side, I checked the battery which was at 1 bar. I checked it because I felt and heard the polisher drop in power slightly. With two sections left, I continued to see if it would drain the battery but it didn’t. Even with a slight power drop, the rotation was there and still plenty of power to correct the paint. I was highly impressed by the amount of working time the battery had (45 minutes give or take) running at a high speed and under a good amount of pressure. Working on both the motorcycle and the boat, the noise of the machine was average/slightly quieter than other polishers, and there was little, to no, vibration which made for an overall comfortable drive.Working on the boat also shined light on a couple cons of the polisher. First, that extra pound adds to extra fatigue compared to my other polishers when working on a boat. At the end of the day my shoulders were feeling it, but not so bad as when I am running a heavy rotary. Second, the front end ergonomics could use some tweaking. The top handle had a narrow end which fits in to the cup of your palm, but also minimizes any finger grip over the top. I’d like to see it widened out for a more secure full-hand grip over the top. Also, the spacing and ergonomics of the front between the backing plate and top handle are not tall enough to accommodate a front face grip for polishing. Working on a large flat surface like the hood of a car, an RV, or a boat, having that grip lends itself to better ergonomic hand and arm placement and with the Milwaukee I was unable to do that.Overall, it’s a great polisher. The front end ergonomic designcons don’t outweigh the pros, and it has definitely earned a spot in my polisher arsenal going forward. It has more than enough power for a professional like myself, but is also safe for a novice or DIY’r. The price point is on par with other cordless polishers in the market. The battery life is great, and I never lost any power in the machine until the battery was almost dead. The only improvements I would recommend from my experience is lighten the tool by one pound, and change the front end ergonomics. Bottom line, I would recommend this tool to a fellow professional, and I’m seriously considering buying the 21mm unit for work on RV’s.

the tool works well, what is not good is the battery life of 5, when they sell it they say that you can work a medium work car with a single charge what is far from being true
