I bought this because I wanted a lighter weight trimmer to carry around the Ranch. We have a bunch of other Milwaukee tools we love, so we went with their trimmer. Overall, it is a good tool. Weight wise, I can handle it well and it isn't overly bulky. I do have some complaints: it doesn't do well in tall grass. The grass tends to get wrapped in the head of the trimmer around the the silver piece. It stops the trimmer from working and I'm constantly having to clean it out. It does it in turtle and rabbit speed. Short grass it works perfect. As far as the battery life, it last for a while on turtle mode but Rabbit mode drains it fast. Wish I could get more work out of a fully charged battery.

When I got back to it later on and removed the battery I noticed that it had actually melted to the tool. The store where I purchased this told me it was beyond the time period when I could return it. Reached out to Milwaukee and to their credit they told me to ship it to them, because this seemed like a hassle I asked if there was someplace local I could drop it off. Now I fully intended to drop this thing off but the only location is on the other side of the city from me and their hours are not compatible with mine.I believe it still ... MoreUsed this trimmer on a small (less than 1/4 acre) and it didn't make it through the 2nd summer. Good Trimmer with a Bad Bump Head Design

I have a large collection of M18 and M12 tools and batteries, so I replaced all other brands of lawn equipment with Milwaukee. While the string trimmer itself works well, as long as you have a couple of extra batteries, the bump head design is poor. After limited use, the bump head cap has split as others have indicated. I figured this would be and easy to find replacement part, it appears I have to buy an entire new head. The head needs to be redesigned with a metal wear strip, but in the mean time, Milwaukee should have made this a widely available, inexpensive, replacement part, and immediately started adding a spare in with all the trimmers.

Good alternative to gas powered weed eater
25 September 2022

Impressed with power, trigger feel and balance of this weed eater. I finally decided to go electric and replace my my Stihl 70R with this electric weed eater and am not disappointed. It is not as powerful as the gas powered Stihl, also not as noisy which is a huge plus. More than adequate for my 1/3 acre property. Minor complaint is the thin string which is not that durable and will replace with thicker string once it has run out. Highly recommend.

Great addition to my OPE

I can say that the overall performance and functionality of the M18 FUEL string trimmer is everything I had expected it to be. It has enough power to spin the line and cut even the tallest, thickest weeds and grass and even some smaller shrubs and thick/wooden vines. I don't have to worry about mixing gas, pouring gas, smelling gas and the fumes, and everything else that goes along with trying to start a gas engine, or performing the maintenance. Plus, I don't have to listen to the noise of the gas engine, even though I wear hearing protection, I'm not hearing it, nor dealing with the vibrations. My only gripe is with the person that put the stuff in the box before it left the factory,... or should I say, Did Not put everything in the box. I opened the factory sealed box and did not receive the neck strap or any string. So I packed everything back in the box and drove back up to Home Depot to see if I could exchange it for a different kit box, but 1. the line at the CS area was really long. So I went over to the area where they had them on display, and I couldn't find any more even if I wanted to exchange it. But I had bought this trimmer because I actually needed to cut a lot of weeds/grass so that I could replace a fence on a house I am working on. I simply grabbed a spool of string and went to the house to get the job done. It took a few minutes to figure out how to wind new string, and I think I may have done something wrong, because the string would not auto feed correctly and it would simply get caught in itself. I had to take the head cover off a few times and manually feed the string out. But eventually it started to auto feed correctly.Like I said, the tool itself works great, and the battery lasts a long time, considering that this is a large, constant draw on the battery. I'll definitely have to get a few more high amp hour batteries for this tool though.I will definitely recommend this to my friends that are in the lawn business, and anyone else that asks about it. It is a time, lung and ear saver for sure, and I'm sure that other people in the neighborhood will be glad it is being used for those reasons as well, even if they don't realize those benefits.

Great dedicated string trimmer
15 July 2022

Very happy with the Brushless string trimmer. Have used it for cleaning up areas a mower can’t reach as well as knocking down some thicker brush.High power is great for dense grass and light brush. Slow speed is perfect for your typical grass cleanup.Previously owned the Quik Lok model but actually prefer this model as the vibration is noticeably more tame.Favour feature on this is the trigger. It is incredibly comfortable to use even for long periods.Keep the motor vents clear and grease the required areas to keep it working smooth.Hoping to see a dedicated edger to go along with this as not everyone wants a multi attachment system.

One year later....
6 August 2022

I bought the tool only, because I already had batteries from my drill /driver. They are the smaller size and one full charge does most of my residential property, 1 and 1/2 charges finishes the job. It is not a light machine, my corded electric is far lighter and easier to handle. The freedom of being cordless is worth it!, Found the original trimming string to be poor, it would bend over taller grass, but swapped that out and it works great. This is definitely a step up on the gas trimmers, very little noise, no fumes and no need to mix gas.I heard that there is an available carry strap to help with the weight, as I get older I may look into that

Overheats when clearing weeds on 1st battery!!!!!!
7 May 2023

I do not recommend this product!!! I have many tools with in the Milwaukee ecosystem, however this product started to overheat right out of the box. I did even make it through a full battery before it started cutting out. After taking the battery out it was burning hot and showed an over heat LED code. I was really hoping for an amazing experience but this tool is a complete fail!!!

Quick issue with long growth
12 June 2023

Power, string and weight are great. 6.0 Ah battery lasts quite a while. However, if you are cutting longer tougher weeds, the stems can quickly wrap around the head and pull into where they shouldn't be, causing the trimmer to stop working and a potential burnout. For longer growth, cut in multiple heights, starting high.

Trimmer can NOT get wet
2 May 2023

The tool does what it needs to do for me. I use it less than 30min on a single charge for a 200ft long ditch.* Bad points. 1. The trimmer is heavy compare to a gas trimmer. 2. The trimmer can not be cleaned with water. The motor on the trimmer side can only withstand moister from grass clipping. Washing the toll with a water hose is out of the question. (Confirmed by Milwaukee's customer service.)
