I purchased this nox 900 bundle for way less than any other retailer online. Even though they had this bundle on sale they still honored the Veterans discount which made it better still! The 900 and headphones live up to their expectations, powerful and quiet always with a little room to spare. The carry bag is nice and durable but it really does not fit the detector and allows it and the accessories to slide around a lot. The Pro-Find 40 is the shining star of the package, what a nice powerful pinpointer. It is hard to beat the quality of the Minelab products and this package is a showcase of that quality. Kudos to High Plains Prospectors for offering this outstanding package and promptly getting it shipped my way.

Very wet behind the ears, when it comes to metal detecting, this equinox 900 being my first! My first outing was, to put bluntly sad, it was about 45 minutes a couple of days after l got it and yielded two very old rusty bits of fencing wire and a relatively new broken padlock, that was deeper in the ground than it should have been! Second time out was a bit more than an hour, first three targets, couldn't find, next two targets, were big lumps of metal not far apart! Then l got a little bit excited! When I found a buckle of some description, thought l might be getting to the good stuff, then all got was a strip of metal! It's all a learning curve, can't wait to find the pirate treasure, any treasure really!

Very heavy coil. It's sensitive to small targets for 18in coil it's very good coil. Pinpoint is only issue it's vary hard to Pinpoint a target. Coil is deep and it seems like it can find deep targets. Coil ears r great on this coil too. Coiltek needs drop wight little and help with pinpoint and be great coil. Targets i.d seems good
The detector itself is very good. VERY deep. However i feel it does not lock in on specific Tids the like,say, a Whites MXT would have. On this .achine a penny can ring up anywhere from the mid 50s to the low 80s. The Tids also seem to change alot depending on which frequency the machine is in and by site that you are hunting. Also ive sent the headphones back 3 times! They died shortly after their second or third charge. Hopefully pair #4 is a winner because Minelab has made the wireless headphones on this series proprietary. Nothing else works with it except their headphones so you cant even buy aftermarket. I like the machine but a little bit dissappinted in it. They released 3 new machines within a year and i hear that a 4th one is on the way. Perhaps they were ... MoreThe detector itself is very good. Excellent metal detector. There are a lot of these on the market. You really can't go wrong with the Equinox 900. They addressed the a number of ergonomic shortfalls with the Equinox 800 which I also have. This unit comes with two coils and is ready to go. There are a lot of video reviews that demonstrate how effective this metal detector is on youtube. Highly recommend viewing them. I am finding that they are accuratre. I do wish Minelans had included a padded carrying case but there are after market options including one from Minelabs. Cabela's was the last place I thought to look for a metal detector and was delighted that they carried Minelabs. Virtually overnight delivery. So far, excellent decision all around.
This machine is awesome. I live in N. E. so my original plan was to purchase the 900 in spring, but I couldn't pass up the 899.00 black Friday deal. I received it around December 1, so pretty cold, and 2-3" of frozen ground. I couldn't wait till spring to try it out. So I decided to check out an old colonial house that had been very productive last summer. I've hunted this site numerous times with three different detectors, ( AT PRO, Vanquish 540, and Legend) so I figured it was pretty much hunted out. But in thefour hours with the 900 I dug fifteen mid and high tones resulting in eight coins. A 1862 fatty Indian, a completely toasted large cent, a 1841 Seated Dime, and five Wheaties. My $120 amazon no-name metal detector was infinitely more accurate with the pin-pointer. All the Nox 900 settings and bells and whistles are great to play with but I have not found any less junk or more treasures than my old one at the same locations. I think all the settings are placebo settings. I still get iron nails that ring up in the 80's, etc. There is no point in notching discrimination settings, anything seems to ring up anywhere. Go look at people's videos of what they find in what ranges. A pull tab is anywhere, a penny is anywhere. A cheap POS can do that too. If you are going to pay that much for something, you are going to tell yourself it's amazing just to justify the price tag. OH it has a light and vibrates! I didn't buy from this site because of the free stuff, but just for honest review, the hat is shaped like an Elmer Fud hat, not meant for human heads and the bag is not what is pictured, it's just a weird floppy, plastic, near-useless box that wasn't deigned by someone that has ever been metal detecting or perhaps even outside.I do love how solid it is and how small it collapses down. Modern Metal Detectors was great to purchase from and has the best deals. I just hope the lower price wasn't because these are the less quality products off the line.
For years I have used - with no serious intent - an old Garrett entry level machine. I thought it was cool, swinging around, picking all sorts of potential targets and I do mean all sorts of targets. So much that I lost interest in the detecting hobby because I was digging nothing but trash. I found myself using the old Garrett only to locate a lost key or find that survey marker that got lost in the grass.All that changed when I had a flash of interest in newer detecting technology and discovered Minelab. After researching their machines and getting more excited with the possibilities, I chose to buy as much capability as I could comfortably afford to help renew my detecting interests. I’m glad I did. From my first contact with High Plains Prospectors, I knew I would be satisfied with the product. Straight out of the box, just follow the directions for charging and assembly. Simple and straight forward. That first time ever swinging a metal detector, I found a few cool items and a bunch of "mower mangled" trash just in my front yard. I'll admit to researching things far too deeply prior to a purchase, but that was time well spent. YouTube helped me understand the settings, but I also know I can contact High Plains Prospectors should I have any other questions about the hobby or equipment.
