We bought our KB around 2002-2003 after it was rated the top coffee maker in Wine Spectator of all places. Love the unit and still going strong! No trouble replacing parts here and there. Our single issue is that even when pouring carefully, ours sometimes dribbles onto the countertop. Pour fast, look out! I’ve been tempted to make a cut into the plastic pour lid for more clearance - is it just a bad lid or is there a fix for this?

I had a OXO 9-cup sewing machine but the coffee was hit or miss sometimes hot sometines not that hot. The main thing is I was only brewing 12 ozs at a time. Now that I got this moccamaster not only is the coffee very hot The moccaamaster brews within seconds it is starting so much faster and it taste great.I have wanted a moccamaster for 5-years now I have one so happy. You would not be disappointed unless you are hard on things this is fragile the plastic parts are thin. So if you get mad I would stay away from this . I would only hand wash /rise the parts not made for dishwasher. It could last 10-yrs if taken care of.Ibought the newest version with auto off. So if yo break te parts you will have to buy them on eBay or overseas has a spare parts store none in the good old USA .

We have owned this coffee maker for over 3 years and absolutely love it! Every cup of coffee is so professional and flavorful, I look forward to making coffee every day. Only one time did it overflow, and the reason was the sides of the paper filter collapsed which caused the grounds to clog. It takes just a second to check that the filter is sitting properly. I only have rave reviews for the Moccamaster.

Love this coffee pot! Makes a wonderful cup of coffee and it finishes in about 6-7 minutes from start. I have had the switch die on me on my previous auto-off model twice. It usually lasts for about 2-3 years of heavy use of the coffee pot. The switch can be bought for $40 online. Im going to pre-order one and keep it on hand for this moccamaster so I dont have to use an inferior coffeemaker while I wait for the replacement switch. Besides the switch the only recommendation is running a decalcifier through it monthly to keep it clean. The quality of coffee from this machine is the best I have had at home. And I have had a lot of different models of coffee pots.
I purchased the KB model about 6 months ago because I knew I would use the 6 cup option routinely. But there is a problem with the design of the brew basket (holds the filter and coffee) that has caused issues 5 times for me so far (I would provide pictures but I cannot find a way to upload):1. There is a mechanism allowing the selection of a.) full capacity, b.) 6 cup capacity and c.) closed (no water can flow through). The selector is black with a black background and it is easily moved without seeing if it is moved (it is very difficult to see) causing the wrong water flow.2. The mechanical mechanism that allows the different flows extends about 1/4" below the bottom of the brew basket so it will never sit flat on your counter top. Resting the brew basket on a ... The selector is black with a black background and it is easily moved without seeing if it is moved (it is very difficult to see) causing the wrong water flow.2. The mechanical mechanism that allows the different flows extends about 1/4" below the bottom of the brew basket so it will never sit flat on your counter top. Resting the brew basket on a flat surface rests it directly on the flow control so that action is highly likely to change the flow mechanism to something other than what is desired. The only way to know this is to test it by running water and estimating if it is at the full or half flow setting. That is an art, not a science. You have to find an alternative way to fill the brew basket with coffee without resting it on a flat surface. Not convenient.3. It is always possible the mechanical mechanism (on the bottom) is not where the selector (on the side) is indicating, so you cannot know for sure by looking at the position of the selector if the water will flow as intended and you may end up with #5 below.4. I have experienced when moving the selector (selecting 6 cups or full), the mechanical mechanism does not move so you cannot count on the selector being correct.5. If any of the 4 above issues results in the mechanism to be fully closed and you haven't determined this with troubleshooting, when brewing the water it will fill and overflow resulting in water and grounds on the device, your countertops, and even your floor (always fun on a wood floor). Why would this device even include a fully closed position? When would you purposefully set it to close and then make coffee? If I had to do it again, I would still purchase a moccamaster brewer but certainly never this model (KB) or any model with a similar mechanical mechanism in the brewer basket that is designed like this. Every morning I face this device wondering if I've done my due diligence of every step to reduce the possibility of a disaster. That is not a pleasant way to start the day.
We bought this because Williams Senoma said it was the best coffee pot made. I asked why is it on the top shelf ? Answer: because everyone wants a maker that does everything but they don’t make the best cup of coffee. This machine has a copper coil making water the perfect extraction temperature. We but the bullet and paid 300.00 for it.That was 12 years ago we’ve never had a problem with it. Many friends have purchased one because they love our coffee! It lasts forever and it’s paid for itself many times over. Most coffee pots get replaced every couple years and that adds up! Buy this one and be satisfied forever! They have replacement parts if needed too!The price barley went up in a dozen years so that says a lot for the company too!Just buy it you won’t be ... I have waited for so long to add my review. I wanted to be sure before I add my thoughts. Is being almost a year since I bought this coffee maker and I would say I regretted buying it. You only have to use filtered or springwater even with that, the coffee still taste horrible. You can't buy grind coffee from the store, you have to grind it at thetime you bought it, because it has to be ground medium coarse. I have followed every guidelines and yet the coffee taste horrible.I expected the price would have worth it but indeed it doesn't. I will have to look for another coffee as am tired of not drinkinggood one.
The copper boiler and flow rate set this machine apart from the others. It brews the smoothest coffee I've ever had from an auto-drip machine. The Wigomat was invented in Germany but automatic drip was perfected in Holland by this company. The other certified brewers have some options and features but this one hold a standard of quality in materials and design and it's very hard to find someone who regrets their purchase of the Moccamaster. Saturation is nearly instant due to it's unique pulsing dispersion head. The glass carafe pours very nicely as they tend to do. There is a lower heat setting on the hot plate which I prefer and the half flow option on the brew basket is very useful for small pots and occasional cups brewed in the style of the Clever dripper.
I've been making artisanal coffee for about 30 years now, before it was cool. In my opinion, this Technivorm MoccaMaster (we bought the metallic red model with glass carafe) is hands-down the best drip coffee maker ever made. Stainless steel carafes ruin the finer nuances of taste in really good coffee if it sits in there more than a minute or two, so glass is definitely the way to go if you're a coffee connoisseur like me. Plus your coffee will stay hotter in glass, and the burner has 2 heat settings (high/low). All the best coffee makers out there, I've had them, and I would consider the best of the best to be the old-school makers: French press for hand-made coffee, Cuisinox stovetop for hand-made espresso, and now Technivorm MoccaMaster for machine-made coffee. ... The MoccaMaster gets you INVOLVED in the old-school coffee making process, much like the aforementioned hand-made brewing styles, and that is half the fun of making coffee. We also got the matching MoccaMaster grinder, which puts an exclamation point on the delicate and exquisite flavors and aromas you get from this coffee maker. We also bought the MoccaMaster filters, which are much sturdier than other #4 filters, and are designed specifically for this brewer. Honestly, I really don't understand any of the negative reviews. I read ALL the reviews, positive and negative, and after tinkering with this cool machine awhile, I figured out that most of the negative reviews can likely be attributed to user error, or they are people who just want to mindlessly push a button and shazam - out comes coffee. Believe the positive reviewers, because you can see that these people really enjoy the process of making coffee, and they like to get involved in the process. If this is you, this should be your next and last drip coffee maker. 5 year warranty? What other company does that? I'm a retired engineer, and I can assure you this MoccaMaster in metallic red is built to last. I bought this whole package (4 items: Coffee maker, Grinder, Filters, Descaler, plus distilled water and whole bean coffee) for my wife to replace her Keurig makers which are expensive and keep breaking. She was going to buy a 3rd Keurig in 6 years, but after reading the reviews for those machines - any and all models - I discovered that they are total junk. So I asked my wife to let me help her find a better coffee maker that would last her for many years and give her the freshness factor that she likes from K-cup pods. So I called a Williams Sonoma store near me, and the kind lady who answered the phone recommended this machine. The Technivorm MoccaMaster BLEW MY WIFE'S MIND when she tasted her first cup. She likes things to be easy, so I made her a cheat-sheet with exactly how much distilled water to use (pour to the 6-cup mark on the water reservoir), and exactly how much whole bean to pour in the grinder (1/2 heaping cup which is 50 grams). BOOM! The first cup fogged up my wife's glasses, which is a new experience for her. PIPING HOT AND TASTY ! BEST DRIP COFFEE SHE EVER HAD ! My last comment is about the copper water heating coil (super-cool for an engineer like me). The passages in the copper coil are narrow, so you must use distilled water, and you must descale every 100 pots or so, as recommended by MoccaMaster. If you don't do both of these things, your coffee will not be as hot over time, the taste will be off, and eventually the coil will get clogged up with impurity deposits. Super easy, but you have to do certain things to get a great cup of coffee and keep a great machine running happily.
Let me start by saying I am not a coffee snob. Our cheap box store coffee maker stopped working and I started looking for a coffee maker that would last. I came across impressive reviews for the Moccamaster’s build quality and warranty. Everyone also said they make great coffee and they weren’t kidding. Our family still makes the same cheap coffee in our Moccamaster, in the same process we did with our old maker, but it tastes so much better. The bitterness is gone, the brew time is actually faster, and it’s much easier to clean than anything I’ve used before. I know these things are expensive but I hope to have it for a very long time!
