The cult following of Moccamaster was right. I recently bought this coffee maker from Amazon and I was blown away by the quality of the coffee. Whatever I make, is very smooth without bitterness and taste absolutely delicious. There is a trick to it and that's to stir the coffee in the filter in order to get the best flavor extracted. It's definitely superior to the traditional drip coffee and takes less time than pour overs. Yes it's very expensive but it's very satisfying to use.

Coffee basket overflow issues

I want to start by saying this machine has the potential to be an AMAZING coffee maker. Unfortunately at least once a week my wife or I spend our early morning cleaning overflowed coffee and grounds off our kitchen counter, floor and backsplash. Many of the morning involve getting burned by hot coffee trying to stop the pending overflow. With that being said, when the machine functions properly it makes a wonderful cup of coffee. I love the quality of the materials and the look of this little guy.I would absolutely love if moccamaster would come up with a fix for this particular machine. I would be interested in trying one of the other products to see if it can remedy my morning frustrations.

Coffee grinding for Moccamaster Cup-one

Hello!I’ve been the proud owner of a Moccamaster Cup-one coffee maker for two years, and for two years I haven’t been able to find the perfect coffee recipe. I had to switch to the Origami funnel.I am asking for your help in determining the grind size for the ideal cup. Please tell me what grind you recommend and what grind you use yourself in microns? What cup spill time should I aim for? The time is now 4 minutes 30 seconds. I use a Comandante C40 coffee grinder. The proportions of coffee and water are 20/330.Thank you!

Cup-one Disaster

I am a great fan of Moccamaster- I have bought for myself, family or great friends, no less than 7 products - mostly KBGTs. They have been uniformly fabulous - and continue to please. When I recently saw your advertisement for the new One-Cup it fit my recent need and I quickly ordered one. After eagerly awaiting its arrival it got here and I finally set it up today. IT HAS BEEN A DISASTER!’The brew basket microscopic drain port clogged (twice) and including nearly scalding me and has further endeared me to my wife, by overflowing onto my kitchen with a hot coffee grounds- a huge mess. (I would note it is identical to the tiny do-dad my wife get with her tooth floss stuff.) Anyway gang what’s in the works?? I first bought the Cup-One because I was tired of draining my wallet and filling up landfills via Keurig and Nespresso coffee pods. I got tired of always getting watered down coffee at home, and this was really the only single serving drip brew machine out there. I also always wanted a Technivorm machine.As far as how it has served me over the last couple years, yes, it does make a very good cup of coffee. Because of course, it's real, fresh brewed coffee. It's not without its headaches, though. The filter basket needs some sort of re-design, because of frequent clogging, which can result in an extremely unpleasant morning dedicated cleaning up coffee and grounds from the floor and walls. One Cup Workhorse w/ a Flaw

I’ve been using the one-cup for several years now; like a number of reviewers, I also experienced the clogged filter basket and a hot mess to clean up. I drilled a hole in the plastic filter basket slightly larger than the original. I always clean the basket, always use Moccamaster #1 filters, and make sure my coffee beans are not ground too finely. Since, I have had a spillover only rarely, and probably because I wasn’t careful in my prep.Still, there should be a redesign for this mighty workhorse - one review mentions several holes in the filter basket, and another, have the hot water disperse over the coffee like a pour over would. I do enjoy this one-cup machine very much.

I do daily pour-over, love the excellent coffee that results from that method but I have grown tired of the tedious process. This machine intrigued me, but the fact that it pours water from only one hole over the grinds will, in my opinion, inevitably result in poor extraction. Other reviewers have mentioned this. Also, I watched a video review of this on Youtube and the reviewer noted the same design flaw, and stated that to obtain good extraction it is necessary to stir the gounds throughout the brew process. This defeats the purpose of those seeking pour-over results from a convenient to use one-cup machine. Product needs work to iron out drip mechanism

I would stay away from this model. If you take a look at the actual design in the picture, you'll see how tiny the drip hole is. There are significantly better 1 cup products on the market that have more safeguards in place to prevent one of the most catastrophic things that can happen when making coffee which is overflows / leaks. I regret buying this.If you take a look at the other products this company sells, they don't have this tiny drip hole as a design element.It kind of defeats the purpose of a coffee maker if you are making coffee because you are tired, but at the same time have to be ultra vigilant to ensure there is absolutely nothing interfering with the drip hole. amazing brewer, for one cup

I have had this brewer for maybe 5 years now, and use it multiple times a week.It works like a charm, and build like a tank.I have the larger moccamaster brewers, and this 1 cup brewer makes coffee on par. I can’t tell a difference in taste.What is not widely known is that it almost makes amazing loose leaf tea! Just put a filter in the basket, and add loose leaf tea, and you got a great and convenient cup of tea! no steeping required! If it is clogged, then either lift up the filter, or if that doesn’t work, take the filter paper out, and clean out the hole. problem solved! Can moccamaster solve this problem without the steps I made? i cannot see how, b/c it’s the small hole that allow the coffee for a one cup to taste like an amazing coffee, by limiting the brew time (i.e. time of water/coffee contact), and it’s the reason why this beats the ‘k-cup’ type machines, any day, and every day!
