This is the best coffee maker. I originally bought it because I liked the vintage style. I’m realizing just how functional it is though. First of all, cleaning it is so easy and you can see the water after you pour it to ensure that the water that you will be brewing is actually clean; unlike the coffeemakers with an opaque water reservoir in the back. You know you have clean water with the Moccamaster, free of any dust or particles that make make it into your water reservoir. Second, it’s so easy to use. Yeah, it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles. But, if you’re like me, and don’t know what half those buttons do anyways, this will definitely be a positive. It’s simple, sleek, and uncomplicated. There are replacement parts that you can purchase in the event something isn’t working properly and it has a great warranty. I have no interest in ever purchasing any other coffee maker. Buy once, cry once. You won’t regret this purchase!

When I compare it with my old coffeemaker in terms of quality components and attention to detail, I feel that my old coffeemaker was an extreme value at one third the cost of the Moccamaster. Issues: 1) Every time I wash—or even touch—the Moccamaster carafe, I am displeased—it reeks cheapness and I worry that the slightest bump on the sink will break the thin glass or, the handle will fall off and the carafe crashes into the sink or onto the floor. (I would certainly hate for the handle to come off while the carafe was full of hot coffee.) 2) While I understand the concept of the downspout on the carafe lid, the way the lid attaches and the way it flips up is not a good design. If you accidentally flip up the lid—which is easy to do—when the carafe is full of hot coffee, coffee will flip out. 3) The hot water tube expands during the brewing process and raises the water-tank lid clear from it’s resting place. It is clear to me that the lack of attention to detail in the design of this coffeemaker does not put it in the category of a coffeemaker that should demand it’s high price. If I were to get ten to fifteen years from the Moccamaster, I would still be ahead buying three or four of my old coffeemakers—which seem to only last about five years (or a little more). I touched on only a few issues but, despite of what I have said, the Moccamaster DOES quickly brew a good cup of coffee—which I might say is subjective. The question is, are you willing to pay the extreme price and look past inferior design for a marginally good cup of coffee?

I wanted to upgrade from my Aeropress to something that could make higher volumes with lower effort, the coffee is just as good in my opinion. I like the switch that adjusts for smaller amounts, it slows down the drip so you still get good extraction even when brewing just 2 cups.Build quality is off the charts, and its all very repairable, I expect it will outlast several cheaper machines with regular cleaning / descaling. The old school 12 cup Mr Coffee measures a cup at 5 fl oz and brews up to 1.75L of coffee per pot; I'm good with the smaller pot but if you have a family of coffee addicts you might want to spring for a second carafe.

KBGV Select: A Love/Hate Relationship

This too could have been designed better.Overall: We are coffee snobs, and these many inconveniences are the price we are willing to pay for the best tasting coffee. It would've been nice if Teknovorm would have spent a little more time in design, or a little more money in quality control and materials.

Love my Moccamaster Coffee Maker
11 June 2023

I had a Braun coffee maker that I purchased in 1994, and until just a few days ago, it served me faithfully for all those years! Back then they were made in Germany and made to last. Fast forward to present day. In the past 11 years I have purchased several coffee makers of reputable brands (my husband and I each have our own coffee makers), non of which lasted more than 18 months. I knew my Braun would not last forever, and with the poor quality of what I was finding in traditional coffee makers, I began to do some research into finding something that would be comparable to the faithful Braun. I had hoped I had found it when I discover Moccamaster. Individually, hand made with spare parts available?! Now that’s the way to produce appliances!! And, the philosophy behind it was the icing on the cake! I knew what I wanted, but decided to wait to purchase one until my Braun finally died. Well, two weeks ago it brewed its last pot, so I went to the Moccamaster web site and was excited to see that I could purchase a refurbished coffee maker! I browsed through the various models and found the one that I wanted. None were available, but I was happy to wait until one was. It wasn’t long at all until I received an email telling me the model I wanted was available. It arrived quickly and I was soon enjoying cup after cup of truly amazing, smooth-tasting coffee!! I am extremely pleased with the entire experience, and am very thankful to join the Moccamaster family.

Loving it

I’ve had the white moccamaster for about two months now and it has been great. I did quite a bit of research so my review responds to points or issues that I’ve seen in articles or other reviews. The machine doesn’t take up much space and I am not bothered by the plastic parts that some people criticize as cheap-feeling for the price. All I wanted was an awesome pot of coffee in the morning and a machine that wasn’t a pain to clean or operate.I went with the glass carafe after reading that the metal carafe can hold a bad taste. That literally is the worst so I chose what I felt to be the lesser-evil that comes with hot plates—burnt tasting coffee. I havent had that issue. That literally is the worst so I chose what I felt to be the lesser-evil that comes with hot plates—burnt tasting coffee. I havent had that issue. From my experience, after 30 minutes the coffee is not going to taste freshly brewed regardless of whether it goes into a glass or metal carafe (when I worked at Starbucks we were supposed to toss out the old coffee after that amount of time). I like to live on the edge so I turn the off/on switch off and on so it stays hot for hours and it is still enjoyable. I never could get away with this with past coffee makers. I personally would hate not being able to keep the coffee hot as long as I want if I had gone with the metal carafe. The idea of microwaving coffee disturbs me. Glass carafe was definitely the way to go for me.I read something awhile back about how you should get a separate grinder. I’ve been getting whole bean coffee at Costco and grinding it on the number 8 setting in-store and haven’t been tempted to buy that separate grinder. If you want great coffee with no muss or fuss, this is the way to go. I never am tempted to get Starbucks anymore even when I’m feeling particularly lazy and I forgot to wash the parts the night before (I was guilty of this for a long time). I love the coffee so much that I make dang sure to wash the parts every night.

I bought the Moccamaster KBGV in polished silver - I wanted the off-white or matte white at first, but I'm glad I went with the silver. Initially, I was apprehensive about the machine because many of its components are made of plastic, which is disappointing given the price. I also felt that the water outlet arm placement was awkward as the lid didn't fit the water reservoir perfectly and the water doesn't always eject evenly into the brew basket. Once I actually got to brewing coffee and realized how delicious, classic, and clean of a cup it made, I stopped my nitpicking and accepted the minor 'issues'. Ultimately, despite the various plastic elements that require some fussing around and proper placement, this is a solid and reliable coffee machine that makes a good cup of coffee. It also looks fantastic on my countertop with its retro design.

And in doing so you’re also going to get a consistent cup of coffee without residue. Yes I’m a coffee snob but great machine and go get a great burr grinder now I’m waiting for mine to show up.I ordered a Fellow Ode Gen 2. I actually had a demonstration of it at Northpark and wow not only does it grind well but it is quiet like a whisper. I’ll review once i receive it. Please go to the Plano store at Preston and Park. Everyone is fantastic. I use Kim but they are all accommodating and resourceful.

LOLIt is a rare appliance that does its job well, year after year with minimal upkeep. Yes, the cost is at first, kind of off putting, but I am here to report that it is definitely worth it. It has paid for itself many times over and I look forward to many, many years of use with the both of them.

I purchased the coffee maker with high expectations considering the price tag and the overall research I have done. I waited a long time to make the purchase because the inability to control the burner and brew in any way left me skeptical. Yes this is an expensive on/off brewing system. It is beautiful to look at and I was really excited to finally pull the trigger and buy it. I am not enjoying my favorite blends of coffee, and I have tried tweaking the grind and the gram level and I just can't get a flavor profile from my coffee other than burnt and burnt. Perhaps because I like lighter body and brighter coffee, this is not the right brewer for me. Perhaps because I like lighter body and brighter coffee, this is not the right brewer for me. I understand the efforts and ideas behind the performance, after working in the coffee world, I have used many different commercial brewers. It is certainly emulating the brew temp and stability of use like a commercial brewer. I just don't understand why I can't get through a cup of coffee with enjoyment. My tastebuds are destroyed in less than 1 cup of coffee. I also use the ember mug so I see my cup filled at 165 degrees, and have to wait for it to cool to my desired temp. I am usually drinking my coffee at 139 degrees, so I have to wait quite a few minutes to take a sip, and I know that brewing from another drip machine and drinking my coffee this way, I do not get that result of burnt flavored coffee and ruined taste buds for the day. Sorry Moccamaster, I had high hopes and wanted to be a lover of the product, but it is failing me.
