Moleskine Cahier Set of 3 Pocket Ruled Black
The notebook features an appealing design that is ideal for individual drawings and embellishments. It has 64 pages, with the last 16 being detachable. The paper is acid-free, and the cover includes a wide pocket for loose sheets. The Cahier is sold as a set of three and is available in various colors and sizes. The name is attributed to the British writer Bruce Chatwin, who preferred the simple black notebooks from a French paper manufacturer in Tours for his work and affectionately called them Moleskin. In 1997, the anonymous notebook, which had been a vessel for sketches and stories of many artists and intellectuals, was revived by a Milanese publisher. He chose the literature-inspired name Moleskine.

I chose to give this product 3 Stars based on my current purchase (February 2014) I would have given it 5 Stars, however, I feel that the product has changed very slightly since my last bulk purchase in 2013. That slight change is huge in the kind of art work that I do.Since 2011, I have used the "Cashier Notebook" by Moleskine for my daily calligraphy practice--copying poetry, writing thoughts, bible study---you get the idea. I chose this book over my other favorite paper--white, college-ruled binder paper--because it didn't bleed through, the lines were perfect for my calligraphy skill level, the size of the book has a "good feel" to it, as does the cardboard cover and of course, the paper.I purchased a 3-pack in February because I used up all the books I ... MoreI chose to give this product 3 Stars based on my current purchase (February 2014) I would have given it 5 Stars, however, I feel that the product has changed very slightly since my last bulk purchase in 2013. Since 2011, I have not noticed any fluctuation in paper style. In this current book, my ink bleeds through, (I used to be able to write on each side of the page), the paper seems silkier and has less weight. I compared it to an older book that I am not quite finished with--I am using the same ink, the same pen, and the ink does not bleed through, and there is more "tooth" to that paper.I have done a "Google search" seeing if other people are experiencing the same frustration. I wrote to Moleskine and there is a generic answer to the question, "Have you changed the paper?" Their answer is understandable (each production of paper is unique based on the temperature and the climate of the day that paper is made) but it does not solve my problem.I want the product to be consistent which is why I chose Moleskine over other brands. When you love paper and pens and ink as much as i do, you notice these little things. It is like getting a haircut and having a few pieces of hair not falling just right. It is bothersome and frustrating like a mosquito bite.I am going to finish up the book I am currently using (bleeding and slick) but i will probably not purchase these Moleskine Cashier books any longer. I will find another brand or make my own.

Good for ball point pen. Paper feels very nice. However, do not buy if you use fountain pen, at least the LAMY ink leaks through the paper. It would be helpful if this was mentioned in the description of the product, for which I am giving 2 stars.

Multiple uses including sketching, journaling and organized record keeping. I appreciate that even stamped images do not bleed through to the next page.
I've used graded notebooks for years now. I like the gridded paper because they allow me to draw small diagrams easily (I work in IT) and the paper is of high quality, lending some clarity to my awful handwriting. The notebooks themselves are very well made and exactly the right size for my needs.
I use these little note books in wide variety of ways. 1. When I am reading a serious book with lots of stimulating ideas. 2. When I am on Teams or Zoom calls and need to quickly capture an idea or comment. Finally when I am travelling the booklets slip into a pocket and are very accessible for capturing ideas or writing todo list. Most people use their phones I prefer a note book. The Moleskins I bought are in 3 different colours and I use a particular colour for a particular purpose.
I picked this up the other day to have a small, convenient notebook to carry around incase I need to write something down. It’s a good concept, but not well produced. Half its pages are tear away, and it has a pocket at the back. These are both great features and a good idea. The paper on the other hand is not what you expect from Moleskine. My pocket pen is a Kaweco Sport fountain pen, and I just use the standard Kaweco cartridges. The paper takes the ink well in that it doesn’t feather, but it does bleed quite a bit, essentially cutting the number of useable pages in half. For reference, I have used the same pen on a Mead memo pad, and that takes the ink better than the moleskine. It’s very disappointing given you are paying a higher price assuming you will be ... MoreI picked this up the other day to have a small, convenient notebook to carry around incase I need to write something down. It’s very disappointing given you are paying a higher price assuming you will be getting the moleskine quality. There are also some other blemishes that make me think it’s just a way for the company to make money off of their scraps, and not a product that they put much care or effort into. Unless you’re extremely keen on the pocket in the back or having a slightly better looking pocket book, save your money and just go for the run of the mill memo pad.
I love these little notebooks! The paper feels a little more fancy to me, if that's your thing. I only use ballpoint and rolling ball pens so idk about fountain pens. I go back and forth between this and Field Notes. They both have pros and cons, Field Notes has better cover designs, but feel a little cheap but are surprisingly sturdy. Moleskine is more accessible and easier to buy in a store vs Field Notes. But I just like variety so I keep a nice stock of mini notebooks!
I was looking for something that looked professional and could be placed in my back pocket. This is the perfect size and the fact there are no metal bindings that could bind the pages together is huge! No more accidental wrapped pages! Buying a new pack soon just to have on hand
I have used Moleskine Notebooks for many years. They are available in many sizes and formats. If I ever have a specific need I can always find a Moleskine product for that particular application. Well made quality products.
