Excellent video clean feed monitor

I bought this monitor to serve as a video clean feed monitor, and it does quite well at that. However, Windows and DaVinci Resolve some disagreements about how to treat it when I wanted to use it as my primary display, so I'm leaving it as clean feed and my secondary monitor for some Windows Apps. 4K sounds great, but current industry trends are showing a lack of adoption for 4K. But this monitor is awesome! Just make sure you really need 4K.

The monitor does not get very bright, so I wouldn't recommend it for a bright office. The biggest complaint I have is that switching inputs on this is a MAJOR chore. Unlike other monitors, as far as I could tell there was no option to automatically switch inputs when the current source powers off. Additionally, the process of changing inputs is cumbersome (moreso than in any other monitor I've used). Great monitor but cable wasn't working

I received this monitor for Christmas and love it, but I struggled to get it set up as the HDMI cable included in the box wasn't working. I tested the connection with other HDMI cables I had in the house and found that it was a cable (and not monitor) issue. I called the LG customer service centre to request a replacement cable, however, was surprised to learn that I had to purchase a new one from them, as they informed me that the warranty only covers the monitor and not any accessories that come with it.This was a let down as the faulty cable wasn't due to wear and tear or something I had done to break it, but it was completely new from the box. I hope LG's warranty policy would provide coverage for accessories, especially seeing as the monitor can't be used ... MoreI received this monitor for Christmas and love it, but I struggled to get it set up as the HDMI cable included in the box wasn't working. Great monitor for the price
12 November 2021

Colors are superb, pixel density is great for the size leading to crisp images. Fairly large bezels which for me is totally fine and deliminates the screen well from the environment, helped by the surprisingly low glare and zero backlight bleed. No ghosting nor blur.HDR isn't particularly good, nor is the stand. The UI is fairly spartan; but given the price these aren't an issue at all.I tend to use my monitors for quite literally everything, from playing decently fast games, to making art, to reading books and learning languages and everything else and it is one of my best investments for my PC, highly recommend if you've been considering upgrading from 1080p.

Great monitor! Now I have 2!
20 January 2023

I have 2 of these now, purchased about 18 months apart. The picture is outstanding. A good value for the money. 4K is nice and crisp for web browsing, word processing, etc. It has no problem switching to 1920x1080 if your gaming/GPU isn't quite up to 4K yet.It doesn't have speakers built-in, but if you want to hook up external speakers you can plug them into the back of the monitor since there is an audio jack. That's how my setup works. The stand on this monitor is sturdy. I also have a different Full HD 27" LG monitor with adjustable stand that is disappointingly wobbly. The build quality on this monitor seems pretty solid. Great picture quality for the price! Would recommend
8 December 2021

I like the fact that the monitor has different picture settings such as HDR, vivid, and reading. Very useful for different functions or times of the day. The image is clear and for the price I think it's great value. Blacks don't looked washed surprisingly. At this price point it would be hard to find something that beats it. 27inch is actually much bigger than I thought, so if you only have a small desk to use it on, it may be abit too big and put strain on your eyes. Make sure you have a good amount of distance between yourself and the screen. Lastly the thickness of this monitor is not bad either considering the price point.

Not great
13 February 2023

I had high hopes for this monitor however for photo editing i do not recommend it. The colours are horrible compared to a mac screen and every time I turn on my laptop after sleep the monitor loses connection and I have to plug it back in several times to get the signal back. It's also very dim for my liking, especially in day light, even with 100% brightness. I swapped the stand to a more flexible one, but there is also a big metal part on the back of the monitor which can't be removed and it looks very ugly unless against a wall.

Perfect Mate to 27inch Retina 5k iMac with one exception
19 February 2020

I was searching for a 27 inch monitor to add as second display, along side a 27 inch Retina 5k iMac. I work many hours in front of my iMac each day, and the resolution, brightness, crispness and rich display of the Retina 5k is best-of-breed for mainstream desktops IMHO.Research concluded that the LG 27inch models were quite close to Retina experience (perhaps closest for a non-Apple display). I have been very happy with the 27UL500 with one exception. The brightness is far less than the iMac Retina 5k display. Many reviews have called this out, and my experience was same. Even the 27 inch UL650 which has a brighter display will likely still fall short, so be aware and have the correct expectations for this price range of display.Having called out that one major ... MoreI was searching for a 27 inch monitor to add as second display, along side a 27 inch Retina 5k iMac. Even the 27 inch UL650 which has a brighter display will likely still fall short, so be aware and have the correct expectations for this price range of display.Having called out that one major difference (which is why overall only 4 stars) every other aspect of the 27UL500 is 5 stars. Installation out of box was plug-n-play. Cables for both DP (Display Port) and HDMI were included. Since I was using this as a second display along side my 5k iMac, I also purchased a Mini-DP to DP cable. NOTE: I needed this cable because my particular model 5k iMac is TB2 and can drive a monitor via Mini-DP cable plugged into the TB2 port. The connection of the UL500 as a second display directly connected to my iMac has been flawless. Screen wake-up actions bring both displays alive with no exceptions, and when the iMAC display sleeps, the LG display does same. I suspect much of this success may have to do with the direct connection via DP, and that is exactly what I needed and expected.I installed onto a single-arm VESA mount, so did not need to use the included LG stand. However, I did use the LG stand for initial setup and testing to make sure everything would work as expected. As others have mentioned, the included LG monitor stand is quite flimsy and the monitor will shake/wobble quite a bit with only slightest bump to the desk. But ... using a VESA mount, I do NOT have that issue, no shakes and no wobbles. One thing to know, if you fully assemble the included stand be cautious about the finishing cap that snaps onto the stand mount to hide the hw that attaches the monitor attachment to the base. Once that is snapped on, it is very difficult to remove. So, especially if planning to just use on desktop temporarily before mounting on VESA arm mount, do not add that piece.Highly Recommend and especially if using with Retina 5k iMAC.PS I also own an OLED LG TV and my experience is that LG has great technology wrapped in great reliability. This after having been a long time owner of countless Samsung TVs.

Too pricy for what it is
3 February 2023

I preferred this monitor over others because it was a reasonably priced UltraHD monitor. Nonetheless, it is no better than a good Full HD one. Also, the settings are really uncomfortable and old fashioned. The monitor itself looks clumsy, and it doesn't have that much of an incredible definition. I changed this monitor for a HP m27f and I am much happier. Also, don't believe when Mediamarkt says that it delivers the next day. They took 2 days to deliver mine.

I recommend both the product and the service by newegg. I received the monitor barely two days after placing the order. The price was the best I could find for this product. The LG monitor was packaged very well, so there was no damage from shipping. As a photographer, I am looking for good colour accuracy, and even out of the box I am pretty pleased in that regard. As I play around with settings more and use my Colour Correction device to profile the monitor, I am confident that I can get to the consistency I need for my photography. The one Con that is talked about, is the lack of versatility with the included monitor stand. That is true —- there is only one height position and the only movement possible is a slight rotation up and down. That doesn’t create a limitation for me as I am using a monitor arm attached to my IKEA desk, to mount the monitor on - this gives me endless movement. Very pleased with this purchase. It replaced my 1920x1080 Samsung 27” monitor, which now is attached to another laptop as a second monitor.
