Use their unique abilities and bone-crunchingly gory new Fatal and Krushing Blows to obliterate opponents.Experience the captivating cinematic story mode or battle against friends in local and online multiplayer. Customise your character by unlocking skins, gear, special abilities through playing the game. As well as new taunts to shout at enemies to make that final blow extra satisfying. Finish him!

This game is awesome, I cannot think of a better MK, nor fighting game, that is better. MK has come a long way since it began in the 90's. I remember playing the first MK in arcade and getting beat down by older guys playing the game. I was a kid then. I remember the reactions from everyone, shock, and my mom wouldn't let my little sister watch the game. Then I was hooked, and played every one of them. I was even Scorpion for Halloween before a Scorpion costume ever came out, me and my step-dad made it after buying materials and a sewing machine. The first 3-D MK was a disappointment to me, (MK4). It didn't feel right when I would play it, but that didn't stop me and doesn't mean I gave up on it. I was too loyal to the MK franchise. And now MK 11 Ultimate. I'm jumping forward in time because the others after that were good but didn't make that much of an impression. I always liked the idea of characters crossing over, like having DC characters in MK for example. I think the Dark Knight would be an amazing addition, especially if him and the joker interact violently during their meet ups. But most of all, I think the MK 11 creators hit the spot with the Unreal Engine 3 and making environments and fighting styles feel right at home, it feels a lot better for a 3-D experience, and the timing on buttons for those of us that like precision is nice, (Not that button smashers are a bad thing, just not in this game. Don't bet on luck, bet on skill). You can call my review biased, but that's that MK Haterade you're drinking. I'd recommend this game to anyone hands down.

There’s a lot to love about MK11. The 6-hour Story Mode has you play as various characters from the roster, giving everyone their time to shine and keeping things from stagnating. Stages and characters look excellent, and the transitions from cutscenes to fighting is almost completely seamless. When you’re done with story mode, or what to change to something else, you can play Klassic Towers (versing AI), Towers of Time (versing AI with Modifiers), or go Online against other players. You can also pin/tag instructions for fighting moves, fatalities, brutalities, etc to your screen under your health bar, so you can practice them during a match. At the time of writing this, each character has 2 fatalities however you will only have access to 1 of the 2 at the beginning. The second can be found in either Krypt Chests or Towers of Time. This goes for majority of the skins, intros, brutalities and other kosmetics. That said if you want to see a characters second fatality, you can select a Klassic Tower, the character, turn on AI Mode and watch the game play itself. At the end of a match there’s 50/50 chance your character will perform the alt Fatality and you’ll still get the match rewards (and trophies). In game currency is handed out quite thinly at the moment, but a patch is meant to be underway for this. What that will look like I don’t know but they’ve said it should make attaining kosmetics less of a grind.Overall though, as someone that doesn’t particularly play fighting games, I’ve had a blast with MK11. There’s plenty to mess around with online and locally, it looks stunning, and Story Mode is the MK film we deserved but never got.(Current time played: 20 hours)

Full MK game on a portable.

Okay I usually don't write reviews but this other review was just ridiculous. I also own this game on XBOX and the graphics are dumbed down slightly but an XBOX is significantly more powerful than a Switch. If your buying this than there must be a specific reason you want it for the switch. I'll bring my switch over to friends and family and I got it to have it on a system that is more portable. If your buying it for your kid because he only has a Switch then don't buy it because this game is rated M which is 17+The game was playable out of the box. I put the game in and selected start software instead of doing the update. Now not all modes were available to start but you could start a game 1v1 or 1vCPU with 9 characters and 8 levels available. I'm not sure where this other review got the the 9GB download from because the console doesn't give you that information. It does give you a total install size of 24GB which will fit on the internal memory. Nothing else will really fit other than that but it will fit. The game box states that it will need atleast 20GB of storage available. 24GB is the current number. I only have 100MB internet which is the lowest speed that is available from my ISP and it only took me 2 hours. So let me make this statement. Game is playable out of the box and your going to need 24GB of free space for all the features and it will fit on the internal memory if nothing else is installed.Other notes: A 32GB micro SD card is less than 10 bucks and literally doubles your storage. MK11 on xbox requires 51Gigs. Double the size of the switch copy. Nearly all major game releases, like 95%, of new games that get released will require an update even when it's the first day of the release. That is not something unique to MK11.

This is another great game in the series as it brings back familiar characters and several new ones to the roster. NetherRealm usually delivers on the story as they have been and it is fun, but I would say only one playthough. Some chapters have two different characters you can play as, but not much changes other than dialogue. The gameplay has changed quite a bit: matches have slowed down, no X-rays but instead krushing blows and fatal blows, and you can customize characters now. Although, not to the extent of Injustice 2, each character has three customizable slots and skins you can choose from. A lot of the skins are simply different colors. Although, not to the extent of Injustice 2, each character has three customizable slots and skins you can choose from. A lot of the skins are simply different colors. It now includes an extensive tutorial to help you understand the fundamentals and advance your skills. The krypt is a nice addition in which you play in third person and walk around opening chests for new fatalities, brutalities, gear, et cetera. Gameplay being the most important thing in a fighting game, I will say more about it. Meter works differently as there are two for offensive and another two for defensive. Offensive can be used to amplify moves for more damage or to extend a combo; defensive is used for wake-up attacks, rolling, and breaking away from a combo in midair. Other mechanics do use use both so you have to be weary and keep an eye on the meter when you want to spend it. Fatal blows which are the new X-rays are not available until your health is at about 30% and are basically there for you to be able to make a comeback. The gameplay within a match does feel like it has slowed down, but I would it is for the better. In a way, it forces you to not mash buttons and be smart about when and how to approach your opponent.

Good game, some annoyances
10 June 2019

Overall this is a good fighting game. I have some issues with it after spending a good amount of time playing though. First, Towers of Time can straight up not be fun at all. There are some modifiers that are complete BS that make it a frustrating experience, even if you use Konsumables to give yourself an advantage. Not to mention sometimes you are required to let the AI fight and it makes some dumb mistakes, especially if you want it to use Konsumables. So many times I watched my AI fighter lose because it wouldn't use the health Konsumable to heal itself. Towers of Time is a terrible slog that isn't worth doing aside from unlocking costumes/augments, or to earn all the achievements for completing 250 of them.My next complaint is Fatal Blows. I don't like this ... MoreOverall this is a good fighting game. I have some issues with it after spending a good amount of time playing though. Towers of Time is a terrible slog that isn't worth doing aside from unlocking costumes/augments, or to earn all the achievements for completing 250 of them.My next complaint is Fatal Blows. I don't like this mechanic at all. Aside from being a repetitive sequence that takes way too long to finish, they do way too much damage and require no real input or timing to pull off. You just press L2 and R2 simultaneously and that's it. They don't even cost any of your special meter. It's a free super move that requires no effort that every player can do once they get down to 30% life. Totally frustrating to have an even match only to lose to a fatal blow. I wish they weren't in the game period, but they won't remove a big mechanic like this. Instead they should make it cost all of your special meter to pull off and/or let you use once period, even if you miss. No cooldown then trying again.Aside from those gameplay issues, I'm also not really much of a fan of the new characters Netherrealm adds to the series. They are usually boring and uninteresting. All of the cool fighters are almost always ones that have been in the series from the first 3 games by Midway. Like Cassie Cage or Jacqui Briggs? Totally boring characters aesthetically (not commenting on their move set, just the characters themselves). The main boss for this game, Kronika, is also a fairly boring character for a Mortal Kombat game. Would have much rather had Cyrax and Sektor than Cassie Cage or Jacqui Briggs. Overall these new characters don't make up for missing classic characters from previous games (though to be fair, more will be returning as the new character packs are released, but I doubt you'll see all of them. Shang Tsung is already having special moves that feature him turning into Reptile and Ermac, so I have a feeling they won't be returning as individual characters). Mortal Kombat 9 on PS3/360 had the best character lineup, just because it featured all of the classic Mortal Kombat characters. So far 11 has a better lineup than X so there's that at least.Despite these complaints, it's still a decent fighting game and I don't regret buying it. I'm just critical of a series that has been around in my life for years.

I’m not a Mortal Kombat fan but this game is cool!
16 January 2021

I’ve never even been a huge fan of Mortal Kombat (or fighting games in general) but I did a lot is research on what PS5 game I wanted to buy for myself with my PS5 - which took weeks to finally get one.. And I chose MK!The reason being is mainly because all other PS5 titles looked super boring to me first of all - dark souls gameplay looks miserable and dull, I am really not into spider man and never have been, not really into call of duty or shooters either but at least that looked interesting, and the sackboy game looked too childish to be fun.I’ll be honest I have been hugely disappointed with the PS5 game titles thus far - but one quick look at Mortal Kombat changed that for me instantly!!Check out the MK gameplay videos - it looks absolutely fantastic for ... MoreI’ve never even been a huge fan of Mortal Kombat (or fighting games in general) but I did a lot is research on what PS5 game I wanted to buy for myself with my PS5 - which took weeks to finally get one.. Super impressive job they have done ...Like I mentioned earlier, I have never been a huge fan of fighting games in general and I have played a lot of previous Mortal Kombat games but NONE of them feel like this one - this game is epic and fun!! I would certainly recommend!I’ll add one thing though that’s worth noting : the combos and controls are very difficult to Learn and Land - and if you are a “noob” such as myself when it comes to fighter games - the learning curve MAY possibly be too high to actually get good enough at the game to be able to fully enjoy it ... I’m trying my best, but it is still too hard, and realistically as much fun as I have with the game and it’s visual appeal, most likely I will give up and shelf the game before ever learning and taking the time that is required to get good at it.. it’s just a bit too challenging for me unfortunately!Which is too bad because the game looks absolutely amazing and I would love to be good at it! I’m just not haha. So be careful if you aren’t good at fighters it is not an easy one in my opinion - in comparison DBZ FighterZ is significantly easier to play for me than MK! For reference.

Mortal Kombat Ultimate is at peak performance on PlayStation 5 !
18 November 2022

Despite owning the PS4 version of MK 11 with all the DLC, I had to pick up the Ultimate Edition for PS5, because Im a fanatic and I collect games and steelbook cases. Whether or not youre like me, I still recommend checking it out. Also, the game has been out long enough that you could probably find it at a fraction of the retail price. Lastly, with the MK 11 Ultimate Edition, you will receive all DLC that has released for the game and youll own it all until the next Mortal Kombat comes out, which is unknown at this time. Buy it while supplies last!

Netherrealm Studios are money hungry criminals
22 February 2023

Netherrealm Studios is unworthy to own the rights to this series. They're nothing but a bunch of inept criminals. Their absolutely sinful servers mess players of out konsumables, time & progress everyday even though they've been made aware of this countless times. If you don't play online then you can't get some of the rewards which I don't play online cause I don't enjoy playing against a bunch of worthless people who are proud of winning by doing the same move 600X & have no skills. They ignore consumers when they reach out to them for assistance. This happened to me personally, there was big problem with the game when it was first released. I reached out to NRS & they ignored me so many times that WB had to reach out because NRS was neglectful & refused to help. ... MoreNetherrealm Studios is unworthy to own the rights to this series. I reached out to NRS & they ignored me so many times that WB had to reach out because NRS was neglectful & refused to help. They have no respect for the series as is apparent by their inept new characters, disregard for klassic characters/plot & crappy storyline. They made Shoa Kahn look like a dragon so now all I see is Sindel freakin a dragon. Theyre more concerned with appeasing the worthless wastes of life Gen Z's over the long time Klassic fans. I've been playing the series since it was first released & my actual martial arts nickname comes from Mortal Kombat. I can't believe how far this series has fall with Netherrealm Studios behind it & let's not forget their atrocious movie where almost everything was inaccurate like Sub-Zero being evil or not having Johnny Cage in at all. That's why I started taking recordings, photographs & documenting every single one of their criminal actions to report them. Everytime they intenionally limit the fatal blow damage, everytime they intentionally prohibited a brutality from being performed & eveytime their servers glitch which is about 200X a week to name 3 examples. I can't wait to see how they totally ruin MK 12 with their skillless brains & spit in the life long Klassic fans faces. I will support MK as long as it survives which prob won't be long cause they destroying this once great franchise. I've been a fan of the series but in no way shape or form will I support the INEPT MONEY HUNGRY CRIMINALS known as NetherRealm Studio's.
