Pros: Very quick in operation. Lovely clean Android experience. Beautiful screen with great colours. Good selection of the cameras that cover ultra wide, standard wide and telephoto. Large memory size for this phone, no piddly little 64GB version, just the lovely 256GB. Comes with a basic case straight out of the box. Easy to set up. Surprisingly good phone at the 2022 price. Cons: I would have loved a micro SD card and headphone jack, but can't have it all.

So far, it does all what I want. Not too much bloatware on the phone, and lots of the children's apps or other bloatware I was able to delete (though still some that can't be deleted like youtube kids). Searching for contacts is instant, which used to take a while on my old phone.. Camera is really excellent in low light situations or variable light, way better than others I have seen and pretty good in normal light (though not as good as the 108MP boast I think). Battery lasts me 2-3 days before needing a recharge (with moderate use, longer if very little use). Previous phone needed recharging every night, and sometimes during the day, if I used it a lot. Alert tone are nearly all irritating, so worth switching off alerts for most / all apps if you want friends not to destroy the phone (this was threatened, which shows how irritating the noises are). All devices should allow deletion of all bloatware, so I won't give a 5* review to any device that stops be doing that. Change over process was quite easy thanks to Google, though a few stubborn apps / websites were a pain. Great price match from John Lewis, so I could get the usual excellent John Lewis service without having to pay a huge premium for it.

However, after a month of use, I learned it’s not only the RAM which would make a difference but also the processor and here is the glitch. For whoever is reading this review, I agree it’s not fair to compare 2 different operating system or a mid-range phone vs a high-end phone as each phone got pros and cons but I am eager to share my experience: • The camera is yet 108 MB but the iPhone camera is somehow better (16MB). long explanation behind but Edge 20 Pro has good camera in general. • The video camera in any Android operating system has a very cool feature “pause” while you record a video so I would give it an extra point. • 12GB vs 6 GB but the iPhone is better as the processor is more advanced (faster). • Battery performance: both +/- mAh 4500. Yet you can charge the Motorola battery in an hour but it drains faster (same apps) but overall ok as it relays on your usage. • WhatsApp performs better on an Android than IOS (faster in sending videos for example). In addition, you have a feature to lock your WhatsApp with the fingerprint. I would recommend the Edge 20 Pro if you are an android user but If you can pay a bit more, then the Edge 30 Pro would be a better option.

Graham's review of Edge 20 Pro 256gb D.sim - Midnight Blue
15 July 2022

Pros: Was originally launched as a upper mid price phone to compete with top end flagships and is Motorola's most powerful and best specified phone to date. At the new price point of half its original its simply unbeatable. True flagship OLED screen and 144hz refresh rate, with top notch 8 series chip set, 256gb of storage and 8gb of ram. Quality design and feel. Never had a Motorola before but very impressed and well worth the money, especially at the new lower price. Cons: Only minor flaws, 3.5 jack and stereo speakers would have been nice as would extendable storage. (though with 256gb onboard its not an issue for me) Camera is very good but cant compete with the true flagships, its a good camera, no flagship spec but for price it's excellent. No real complaints.

Great 5G phone at a good price from JB
23 August 2022

Have been a Samsung phone user for many years, both S series and more recently A71. This time looking for a new phone I was astounded at the prices of Samsung, yes I know they are good phones but we all have a limit. On visiting JB and doing some research on what was available at an affordable price I settled on the Motorola Edge 20 Pro. This phone has everything I need, 256 Gb / 12 Gb great screen and refresh rate, good camera's for my requirements,. I have only been using it for a few days and so far I am impressed. I definitely recommend this phone for it's specs at great value price. Thanks to JB Hervey Bay for great service.

Great mid-high end phone
27 December 2021

Great mid-high end phone from Motorola. Good chipset Snapdragon 870 and specs to match. Very responsive screen 144hz and very bright for day and night use. Very vanilla OS which is great. Dual Sim is great as I have a personal and work sim. Just gotta get use to selecting the right Sim for data, calls and sms. Reception is great for 5G for both Vodafone and Telstra. A lot better than Samsung. Takes great photos for selfie normal photos. Video recording is very responsive for 4k and 8k. Couldn't be happier. The finger print unlock on the power button is awesome. Better then the screen, very responsive and easy to use. The fast charge is awesome if a need a top up and I am a very heavy user for calls, emails, conference videos calls and the battery life last all day. ... MoreGreat mid-high end phone from Motorola. Throw in a bit of gaming (fortnight, puzzles etc), running 2 Sims with Bluetooth headset and still have about 20% at the end of the day without having to charge. Only downside, no wireless charge and the speaker is located on the bottom, so not stereo but still ok when playing music or watching videos. Still loud. Good replacement phone if your in the market for a new phone without having to pay a heavy price tag for a Samsung.

It is fast but does not worth the money at all
8 June 2022

I like the looks of phone but the way it is designed makes it uncomfortable to use. It is annoying when you keep touching power button as it has finger print scanner on it, it keeps unlocking randomly. You can not be sure if the Device is locked if you keep your hand in your pocket. In terms of Camera, it does not worth the price I paid. It is laggy and slow to focus on subject even in daylight. The camera transitions among wider, main and telescope camera is sluggish and you can see it is extremely slow. It really takes long time to focus and capture the picture. Night shots are also not useable to edit and export. Eventually, I stopped using night features and it is a waste of time. It makes me feel I made a mistake trying to switch to Motorola. The camera performance is not even comparable to any budget smartphones. To be honest, I had a phone from 4 years back and its camera does better than this Motorola Edge 20 pro. Otherwise, it has good battery performance, it is fast and smooth. I wish I could return it and swap phone to other phones(not Motorola certainly). Better stay away from this phone, it does not worth the price.

Bought this impulsively, on the rebound of breaking my 6 year old Oppo (which was tough as nails, but everything has a limit with my use). I had certain wants in a new phone and this seemed to tick all the boxes for the future. It didn't, but heres my take. If you want a phone that functions well and includes the 'accessories' that all the major brands won't include any more and is lightning fast, this is fantastic. The let down is the price and camera The specs look amazing but the truth is the camera is average. It doesn't meet the standard of the 2000 dollar plus phones (ridiculous). There are plenty of reviews that will tell you the details. But. It does have a lot of options and does take reasonable photos and videos as long as you're not entering a photography ... MoreBought this impulsively, on the rebound of breaking my 6 year old Oppo (which was tough as nails, but everything has a limit with my use). There are plenty of reviews that will tell you the details. But. It does have a lot of options and does take reasonable photos and videos as long as you're not entering a photography competition. Besides, get a real camera for that if thats what you want becasue a phone still has a long way to go. It's a bit pricey for what it is which is my other criticism but having said that, I think this is a keeper. I love the speed and the convenience of it. It feels 'right' in my hand. Solid yet light and thin. Skids into my pocket without bulge. Functionally, there are a lot of customizations Moto have included. Karate Chop torch and DND flip etc being the most popular. The fast charger included is stupidly fast. 30% to 85 in 5 mins! NFC and all of that is there which my Oppo didn't and I believe still hasn't. Dual sim. Speaker is only mono so don't expect crazy good stereo. But who does out of a phone? One thing I couldn't get it to do was charge wirelessly tested on three chargers. Weird. It's supposed to be capable. I could go on and on. I already have, I know. But the bottom line is once you've played with this for a while, you'll understand this is a 'functional' phone. Not a fancy whistles and bells expensive (oh, look out something else went wrong) phone. I know what I prefer. Something that will do the necessity of communication. Without the fear that I have to treat it like a royal baby. Just whack on the supplied case from the box and put a 9H screen glass on it and go. Simple. Your choice may be different to mine though. I got mine on a deal so by talking to the great staff at JB. Maybe you could do the same if you hear my words. Good luck

The best alternative to Samsung

If your a phone gamer this thing is blasting through everything from cod to Runescape to Minecraft. Now the drawbacks, no headphone jack, no expandable memory but 256gb is plenty. It's not waterproof it's water resistant (for me I'm not going swimming with it if I can avoid it anyway) and the final drawback is the mono speaker I thought this wouldn't bother me but when watching something and your hand covers it and muffles the sound it can get annoying. Really nitpicking here to find flaws. Hands down best bang for buck premium phone if you don't want to go with Samsung. I think I'll be going Motorola a few more times after this one!

The perfect value for money phone
6 June 2022

I had an unfortunate incident with my Samsung S21 Ultra, an 1800 dollar premium phone. Repair cost estimate ran to well over 700 dollars. I thought why not pick this phone that can be gotten at a lesser price. I was under the impression that I will miss out on a few features, but that's about it.To my amazement, I don't quite miss my S21 Ultra. I wonder why the premium phones cost an arm and a leg, when this phone is so good. Basically, everything I need is pretty much there and it is not a bad shooter even though it may not have the same gimmicks as the S21 Ultra's camera, but this one isn't bad either. It hold well in every single department. An excellent screen, a very good processor and RAM that perform very well, infact faster thanks to no bloatware, a good battery that is better without the bloatware.Frankly, I do not know what I was thinking when I spent a fortune on the S21 Ultra. This phone is perfect value for money and much more.
