Tried on about 5 female hiking pants which could unzip and turn into shorts and didn’t like the fit of any of them, so I decided to try on a pair of the men’s and omg the FIT is AMAZING. fits perfectly around the waist and butt, has ample pockets and really kept the cold wind off my legs when at the top of bluff knoll. So females do yourselves a favour and try a men’s size and see how much more comfortable you feel in them.

This is absolutely what I want in Spring or Autumn hiking. Handy, functional and comfortable. As you know, with cuff on and off, you can easily handle your feeling of warmth or coldness and it is space saving. The thickness, I would say medium, of course is not designed for heavy duty use, but enough to cope with most casual hiking. Choose your best for your needs.

First wear of the shorts we’re on ANZAC weekend during an overnight hike. Easily the most comfortable yet durable pair of shorts I have ever worn and that’s coming from a tradie that invest in “hard yakka” pants and shorts to withstand all sorts of conditions. To top it off the zip on bottoms came in handy when it was a cold night and a very wet and muddy track on the way back. Best purchase ever, very happy customer! :)
I had a pair of the previous version that had been worn so much they were see through (they survived a trip to Finland at Christmas time and a week long stop in Singapore on the way there) so I was looking for a replacement pair. Although I could not get them in grey (I would really like them in Blue but they don't come in that colour) I like the black. The material is quite thick and withstands rough use. The zip off legs were great when the day started out cool but ended up at 38 degrees. Lots of nice little features like huge belt loops and a key loop on the front to hang keys off. Pockets are big enough to safely protect a mobile phone when zipped in.
The Larapinta Convertible Pant is really comfortable. The material is slightly thicker than the Mountain Design Stirling Convertible pant. Well designed with secure pockets and easy-to-use adjustable belt, plus it is stretchy enough at the waist to remain comfortable throughout the day. The zip-off legs work well and the shorts look nice and are a great option to have. Highly recommended.
I purchased these long pants as they had the zip off legs. I have worn the pants for the last 8 days and can say that they are an excellent fit, have plenty of pockets and dirt does not stick to the pants. I would recommend them to any won planning to do some serious hiking.
Good fit in the legs; spacious and not too long like many other pants so didn't need to take them up as I am not tall (about 172 cm). They are warm and comfortable. Haven't tested them in the rain but they feel water repellent but perhaps not as good as shell pants. Pockets are a good size with one velcro pocket at the side of each thigh and one zippered pocket above one of them on one side. There are also rear zippered pockets. The button and built in belt means they don't slip down and sit comfortably on your hips. They are quite heavy pants so if you are looking for lightweight pants to put in your pack for hiking, I would consider other options unless you were actually going to wear these ones while hiking. Overall, comfortable, quality seems good and functional.
Great walking pants. Comfortable, water repellent, provide warmth in strong wind and quick drying. I was a bit dubious on the quality of the belt but am now pleasantly surprised because it is unobtrusive and the buckle is easy of use. While the lower legs are easy to zip off to turn the pants into shorts, they are a bit fiddlie to reattach. The black pants is not black - they are more of a deep navy colour when viewed in sunshine. This does not bother me at all - it's just an observation. All in all, I'm really happy with the pants. They are well worth the money.
Great fit. Dries well after soaking in cold river water. Only used once inside a cave, but resisted wear and tear (including outside with thick blackberry bushes). Hoping it will last multiple rounds of caving.
