Recently purchased this as a further step into the sim racing world and what an improvement. Coming from a G920, this is a major step up having the Direct-Drive. Tried a $4500 DD set that was at the store but requires a huge budget and wasnt for me. Given the time I tested the expensive store display wheel, I can honestly compare this to that one! With pricing being a major selling point, after I assembled the R5 and completed one race with it, I was sold and there was no going back. Build quality looks and feels great. Bit hard to write this review. The wheel feels great, force feedback feels amazing, but the desk clamp... I tried, I tried, I tried. The desk clamp always came loose when driving, which is not ideal. Didn't matter how much I tightened. I have a Jarvis standup desk which is fairly thin. Either way massively disappointed with the clamp. The pedals are pretty meh, but this would have been a home run if it would have just stayed in place on the desk, but it won't.

I was looking for an affordable DD wheel since I was feeling underwhelmed with my Logitech G29 after 3 years. During my research, I was hearing everywhere that this MOZA R5 bundle was the best next step up and all had very positive reviews.I was discouraged after seeing the MOZA website's pricing with VAT and shipping... then MicroCenter showed up in my search results with this bundle (with a BF discount too)! Thankfully I have a B&M store close-by so once it was back in stock, I snatched it up.PROS- The R5 comes in at 5.5nm of torque but compared to the 2.2nm on the G29, it's doubled. I can definitely feel it when driving: the road noise, the dips and bumps, etc. It feels a lot more realistic and it's very responsive.- The R5 also has a MUCH smoother ... MoreI was looking for an affordable DD wheel since I was feeling underwhelmed with my Logitech G29 after 3 years. I can definitely feel it when driving: the road noise, the dips and bumps, etc. It feels a lot more realistic and it's very responsive.- The R5 also has a MUCH smoother rotation for sure. There's no grinding noise when turning. Direct Drive just feels very different from the G29's belt-driven gears, in general.- The software comes with many customized options, including presets for certain games that you can just use.- The size! It's so small that I can palm the wheel base in one hand.- It has a quick release wheel. Not really necessary since other MOZA wheels are not compatible (I think maybe one other?) but it's just cool to have.- The pedals are nice and big. Customizable spacing in between pedals too.- Everything is made of smooth metal. It feels very sturdy and solid. No fingerprint magnet here!CONS- It's not a known company. I'm used to firing up a game and seeing the G29 as a preset but with MOZA, you have to setup it a manual wheel and configure all settings. But I guess that is how most aftermarket DDs go.- Wheel feels a bit small. Yes, it's the same size as the G29 wheel but I had a custom 13.5" racing wheel on that. Hopefully they come out with larger wheel options in the future.- No clutch pedal. You have to buy it separately.- Brake pedal feels too soft. You have to buy a separate brake kit for more resistance but no load cell.- Not really a con but MOZA needs to offer an H shifter and hand brake! I ended up buying a generic USB set but would like to keep it all MOZA please...INSTALLATIONInstalling it on my rig was a bit challenging since it was built for my G29 and it didn't have the required holes on the wheel plate nor the pedal plate. For the drilling, there were a few things I did differently. I tested the weight distribution on the wheel plate and noticed that the whole rig would slant forward quite easily if I placed it in the center, so I placed the holes as far back as possible. I also drilled two extra holes on the pedal plate to mount the end of the pedals. Lastly, I didn't like how the wheel was completely horizontal, so I picked up some hardware to create a slant. In case someone might be wondering what I bought... it was two M8 x 1.25 bolts with nuts and washers, along with a 2-inch "mending plate", all for $5. Be sure to buy four extra washers for the extra space between the two metal sides that touch. I had to drill bigger holes in the mending plate for the bolts to fit, but all in all, it's very sturdy and provides the perfect angle. This is my first DD wheel so I can't really compare it to others, like Fanatec, but I'm loving it so far! Thank you MicroCenter for offering this. Now please offer the MOZA SR-P Lite clutch pedal and brake mod kit :)

I recently started playing a lot more iRacing and found a cool league. I've been using a G920 off and on for years now. And now my 10 year old is into racing and racing games as well so it has gotten some use lately. With this all said I felt it was time to upgrade to something more substantial. The problem, as you well know if you're looking at this bundle, is the upgrades are belt driven or direct drive options; and neither are cheap.Enter the Moza R5 bundle. This is the perfect upgrade for someone who wants to step up their rig and potentially step up their game. Don't let the price fool you. This is quality from top to bottom. This is the perfect upgrade for someone who wants to step up their rig and potentially step up their game. Don't let the price fool you. This is quality from top to bottom. A direct drive base, wheel, and pedals for $600 sounds pretty crazy. Full aluminum construction and a nice compact design. Don't have a rig or a wheel stand? Aluminum desk mount with a ton of clearance. What about the wheel? 11.5" wheel with aluminum core. This thing is nice and heavy. The buttons on it feel great and the paddle shifters, while not being magnetic, are crisp and clean. I am curious if the smaller wheel plays a part in why this feels so great. I'm curious if a 13" wheel would dampen the effects of the force feedback. Either way it looks and feels premium. The pedals continue the trend of premium feel. Again an all aluminum design with a plate to adjust the pedals. Some people have stated the brake pedal feels the same as the accelerator or is spongy in other reviews. I don't know if Moza changed the tension but the brake pedal does take more pressure to push down than the accelerator. That said they do have a tension kit available that is very easy to install on their website.Last the Moza Pit House software is very nice. It seems as though Moza has worked hard to increase compatibility and stability of their wheel base and their App. So far it's been an enjoyable experience tinkering and getting all my settings the way I like. Each setting includes a nice concise blurb about what the setting may affect. They also include several presets for various titles.Overall I am ecstatic about this purchase. I've noticed a difference in my performance and enjoyment. And the kids love it too. So 5 stars for happy kids and happy dad.
If you are looking at this and the R9, but your budget can only justify the R5, don't worry the 5.5 Nm is plenty of torque. I have had both versions. I like the wheel that comes with this bundle better than the CS wheel. This wheel is smaller, but more versatile for use with road and F1/GT3 cars. Now the one thing I will recommend and this is a MUST, do not use these pedals for long, they are not good. They can get you through if you don't have the money to get different ones at first, but you will want new pedals quickly. I suggest the SRP with the load cell for an additional $150.00. Also, this bundle WILL work with the PS5, IF you purchase a "Ras1ution 2" adapter, you will need to google it as Microcenter does not sell this. It can be found on Amazon for $120.
Have utilized the R5 bundle for the last few days; and based on other Direct Drive wheels I've utilized in the past - it beyond surpasses all of them for the buck. Granted it is a newer company, I genuinely believe it's worth it over competitors such as Fanatec. In order to get it set up, it's a little quirky in regard to how the clips go into the rear of the Base; but besides that everything is insanely user friendly; and you can get going within 30 minutes.
For 600$, it is a good deal. Far better than Trust master GR 300, bell drive. You get a direct drive wheel with metal construction. Two padel are good enought, and you can get the third one with break mod kids for about 80$. The wheel is 11 inch es,but it match with the power of the base. For 5.5nm base, and yhis wheel, I thnik the ffb is strong.wuick release is compatible syandard, so you and u third party wheel. It good for future update. Strongly recommend if yiur budget ariund 5 or 600$.
I've had the wheel for 2 months now and its a major upgrade over my T150. I don't use the included pedals as I have TLCM ones that are better, but its nice to have the ones included as a backup. If they come out with a load cell brake I may switch to them. The wheel has decent strength when setup correctly. I do have mine running about 90% of full power, but I don't know if I would want more than that. It gets tiring after a couple hours of play. The wheel is incredibly smooth and makes essentially no noise I can discern. The game needs to support the rev LED so Dirt 4 it works project cars it doesn't not a huge deal though. The speed of the wheel is incredible and another reason I'm happy to start with a lower strength wheel. I think an R9 could hurt you ... MoreI've had the wheel for 2 months now and its a major upgrade over my T150. Even this one will occasionally surprise me and pop out of my hand and I have to carefully grab the wheel from the outside to slow it down.I'm paranoid so I setup a 140CM computer fan with a small 12volt supply that blows across it to keep it super cool :). Most likely not needed, but I have tons of fans so why not.
By far the best direct drive wheel for the price range. I got this on a 20 percent off sale for Christmas and was $480 plus tax for the wheel. Drove an hour and a half to the closest store and picked it up for 510. Online was 600 plus 200 shipping from most retailers with long lines for pre-ordering. This is by far the best direct drive wheel for $600 usd. Very high quality. Lots of add on options for wheels and upgrades for brakes and lots of other options. Moza r5 on full force feedback is enough to feel every bump and corner and feels smooth for drifting and racing. It's a must have and huge upgrade from any belt driven wheel as I currently still use my logitech g920 g923 and g29 and thrustmaster tmx as well for games that are not supported for direct drive so do ... MoreBy far the best direct drive wheel for the price range. I upgraded to the R5 from a Logitech G920. The amount of detail you feel with this wheel alone is worth the upgrade. When rolling over bumps and curbs, you can feel on what side of the car it is on. Even if you roll over some bumps from left to right you can feel that sensation in your hands so easily. This is also more than twice as strong as the G920 and it shows. Before it didn't take much for me when I had to pull the wheel hard to one side. Now it takes a lot more effort under certain circumstances. That makes it all fun and challenging and realistic all at once. My braking immediately improved once I started using the sr-p lite pedals. There isn't much resistance to the brake pedal, so I do recommend the brake mod for it, but even without it, you can precisely push the brake pedal without locking up your brakes. I highly recommend this wheel setup for anyone upgrading from any gear or belt driven wheel setup. Direct Drive is the way to go, and I'm so happy that I have it now.I do wish that it came with a clutch pedal and the brake mod as part of the package, but I can understand why Moza did not include it.
