Tomato - Roma VF This is a heavy cropping, fleshy variety with deep red plums that are almost seedless. Perfect for pasta and sauces. For greenhouse crops, sow indoors from January to April. A warm kitchen windowsill is all you need for starting these seeds. Sow thinly, 0.5cm deep, in a pot of compost. Water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of 15-20°C is ideal. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 7-14 days. Transplant to individual pots when 10-15cm tall. Grow on in cooler, but not cold conditions. Plant out April to May to large pots, growing bags or greenhouse border. Harvest from June to October. For outdoor crops, delay indoor sowing until March or April. Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions, before planting out into warm, well-drained soil, 45cm apart, when frosts are over. Harvest from August onwards.
