I’ve used this product for hunting in my deer blind and it worked exceptionally well. Last year we had a storm that knocked out power for several days during very cold weather and it was our source of heat. We were very fortunate to have this little heater. Because of that we bought another one this year and stocked up on the propane canisters. We also bought a long hose with an adapter for the heater to the 20 pound tanks but the small tanks do last several hours. As a safety precaution we always keep a carbon monoxide detector in our home and this is especially important when using this heater in your home. It does have an open flame so care must be taken to ensure there is no fire hazard.

Very good heater. Furnace went out. Fired up Big Buddy. Fixed furnace. Put away. Kitchen wall froze cold water line. Out came Big Buddy on medium setting with box fan assisting directing heat under sink. Got cold water flowing again. Put Big Buddy in garage on low to keep temps above freezing. Will go 3 days on low setting on BBQ propane tank.

Shipped in a timely manner and as advertised. The female thread adapter for the propane tanks swings out, making it convenient to screw the cans on or use an accessory hose to a larger tank.I’m only using it for a little 64sq ft hunting stand (for the old and wise), but apparently works so well it needs to be turned off every ten minutes; even at low. An efficient little accessory and very light weight without the can attached.Surrounding material (bottom/rear/sides) remain touchable. No complaints.I don’t have enough data to offer accurate duration on a given setting yet; ymmv.

Bought this for a winter tent camping trip to keep the chill off the air in the tent. It was about -10c at night. Unfortunately i only purchased 2 x 1 pound tanks of gas so I had to use it on low setting so my 2 tanks would last all night. Next time I go camping i will purchase the hose to attach the heater to a 20 pound tank so I can run it on high if it gets that cold. Still managed to keep the dogs water bowl from freezing solid in the night. All in all its a great little heater and this particular model has a low setting of only 4000 btu so you an use it in a vehicle or a small trailer without making it too hot. The 3 larger Buddy heaters have a minimum of 6000btu which may be too much. No ventilation is necessary in a tent as there is sufficient ventilation.
I just bought this heater for my shed which has a work bench and I am using it for airbrushing this winter. So I picked up the 9000btu version and ran it for about 6 hours the other day. It kept things warm and I even toggled between low and high as it was that toasty. Now the outside temperature is hovering around zero so I am not sure if this will keep up on the January February days I guess that will depend on how leaky my shed is at that time.First light was difficult at first. Priming the pilot didn't really work and I was scraping my head. I just turned the tank on and off on my 20 pounder a few times, got the pilot to light then flipped it over to high and I was in business. Restarting now is easy.I bought a adapter hose to run a large propane tank as ... MoreI just bought this heater for my shed which has a work bench and I am using it for airbrushing this winter. My husband bought this for inside of his (not insulated) ice fishing hut that fits 6-8 people. It heated the space up no problem and quickly. Stayed warm for a long time and comfortable to just be in sweaters. While it was also heating, my husband jigged up a little camper type cooking rack to hang in front of the heater. We were able to make coffee, breakfast, hotdogs, you name it!It’s fantastic!
Works great. Simple to use. I purchased this for my 6x6 insulated pop-up fishing tent and sure seems to keep the chill out. Haven’t burned myself on it yet but am careful around it. Nicely compact and light weight design with a handy handle. Seems well designed in my opinion. I’ve not had it long so can’t speak about longevity.I wish it would have come with a adapter hose for a refillable propane tank to help keep the propane cost down instead of the use of the expensive little green bottles. Just bought the adapter hose separately but haven’t used it yet.
I've owned Mr. Heater Buddy heaters before, still use my hunting one. I bought this one for the RV. I bought the adaptor, regulator, filter and hose to hook it up to 20lb tank. Could not get it to light on a 20lb tank but could get it to light on 1 lb tank. However, after running for about an hour on a 1lb tank the smell of propane was overwhelmingly strong which doesn't happen on my older heater. Regardless, I returned it, I didn't get a replacement, I'm just sticking to my old reliable Mr. Heater for now.
I bought the Big Buddy heater to use inside a 10’x12’ gazebo that covers our hot tub. So the area to be heated is about 120 square feet. Curtains surround the gazebo to keep wind out.Experiment #1 - Starting temperature inside gazebo was 32°, and hot tub cover was on. Big Buddy was set on high, with fan running. Thermometer was about 5 feet from the heater, and about 6.5 feet high. One hour later, temperature was up to 52°. Not sure if some of the temperature gain was from heat escaping the hot tub. Turned heater off, and half hour later, temperature dropped back to 32°.Experiment #2 - Starting temperature 32°. Checking for heat gain from just the hot tub, and no heater running. One hour later, temperature was at 42°, so it appears the heater use in experiment ... MoreI bought the Big Buddy heater to use inside a 10’x12’ gazebo that covers our hot tub. Picked up a filter, but will use with a 20 pound tank after 1 pound tanks are empty.
Just used the Buddy portable on a 3 night tent camping trip on Shuswap lake in November and it was snowing and got down to -3C at night. Not that cold but the Buddy kept me and my dog warm in our big teepee on low setting. Used it with 11lb propane tank. I used a fuel filter just to be on the safe side because these Mr Buddy heaters can get clogged up if you use the wrong hoses. Pilot light lit easy 95% of the time. When it didn’t, I had to disconnect the line and reconnect, hold the knob down for 30 seconds and it lit fine. Good unit, got it on sale to boot!
