It did take some fiddling and a do-over to get the OS installed to my satisfaction, but I think that's the fault of Ubuntu 20.04 Linux, and my ignorance. Great Budget Board, Supports High End Parts

I had no issues installing this board, only a few minor inconveniences which where more related to my case. The Bios supports both legacy and UEFI boot at the same time which is useful if you want both, it does support secure boot for Windows 11 but for some reason it was disabled by default so you have to enable it manually if you want to upgrade to Windows 11. An interesting note the ram only has clips at the top but not the bottom, you have to angle your ram into the bottom notches first before sliding the top part into the clips. The only issue I had was the JRGB header wouldn't work for some reason and I didn't see any options in the bios for it. I had to switch to the internal USB cable for my Ryzen's Wraith Prism cooler to get my RGB to work. Other then that the drivers are pretty straight forward, of course I grabbed them from the website instead of using the CD provided. No control panels to worry about, no bloatware, just the bare drivers that get everything working perfectly, overall it was a very pleasant motherboard to work with.

This indicated an incompatibility or damage issue, but the CPU wasn't damaged in the slightest and is compatible with the board, so that wasn't the reason why this was happening. All the other components were fine (brand new) and compatible as well. After two aggravating weeks of swapping out components, buying new ones, and going back and forth between MSI and AMD support, I eventually RMA'ed the board, spending an additional sixteen bucks in S and H for the trouble. This defeated the purpose of having gotten this mobo and CPU for a steal in the first place, so needless to say I wasn't happy.Throughout this entire saga, I researched this issue and as it turns out, the CPU indicator LED error is a common MSI problem, regardless of whether there's a legit issue with the CPU or not. To make matters worse, even though product descriptions or specs state that an MSI mobo is compatible with a particular CPU, some of these boards come shipped with an outdated BIOS that can't be updated for the newest generation of CPUs unless you have an older one handy. For this mobo, this isn't a big deal if you already own an older compatible CPU and are just upgrading your build. But what if the oldest CPU you own predates the oldest one that was last compatible for this board? For example, what if you are jumping from AM3 to AM4? It means buying an additional older AM4 CPU for $100 or more just to update the BIOS for the new AM4 that you have just bought. In fairness to MSI, the company seems aware of this problem to such an extent that some of their boards do have an option to flash the BIOS with a USB drive (like the Tomahawk). Unfortunately, this particular model doesn't have this feature at all, which is ridiculous because it seems to be the one that would need a BIOS flash button the most!In any event, after a month of cooling my heels and waiting for the board to get shipped out, I got it this week and set it up, and now the board is working. However, I can't help but wonder whether there was a defect that needed to be repaired at MSI or if this was just a simple matter of a BIOS update. So, even though it seems to be a decent board, I've rated it three stars and posting this long review as a warning for others to not be swayed by the glowing reviews or lulled into a false sense of security thinking that it'll be smooth sailing buying this and a compatible processor out of the box. It seems as if companies like MSI are taking it increasingly for granted that system builders tend to have spare parts around. That may be true for the more hardcore builders or professional tech repair people, but not hobbyists.

Nice little motherboard; good shopping experience
30 August 2021

I bought this motherboard for my wife. It's a good budget mobo and does what it does exactly as a budget mobo will do. It arrived quickly and was properly packaged so wasn't damaged in transit. It's been chugging along for over 2 years now (like the little motherboard that thought it could!). Well done NewEgg; would buy it again if I had to.

Not stable under high power workloads
5 May 2020

If you get a 65 Watt CPU to run stock, this should be a fantastic cheap solution for gaming with a good video card. I'll keep running this until new motherboards come out, and then probably stick a 3600 in it. It's also pretty cool to see what a 3900X with XMS 3600 c16 RAM can do at 65 Watts. Low core-count speeds around 4.2 to 4.3, fully loaded is where the real drop happens, you get 3.6 for a while but it slowly drops down to 3.5. That's still not bad considering the power savings with a stock cooler. In gaming it's generally up at that 4.2 to 4.3 range, so not much of a drop. And not loud at all. I'm just going to keep running it for now until new boards come out.

OVERVIEW OF BOARD PROBLEM
30 October 2021

Had to take to a specialist. the Board BIOS DID NOT SUPPORT THE CPU Ryzen 5 56000G had to have a CPU installed that the current BIOS supported so the BIOS could be update. Then my bought CPU worked fine. Note sent an email to MSI telling them what components where being considered, They responded back the BIOS needed to be updated to support the CPU but DID NOT say what the procedure was. NEWEGG also in their overview for supported said that CPU was supported and BIOS needed to be updated but DID NOT say why.

Terrific Bargain! :-)

I am not a gamer, but my 18 kids, and kid's kids are! Being a great Grandpa, I have to keep up with my family. So this MSI B450PVDHMAX AMD Ryzen 3000 (B450M PRO-VDH MAX) motherboard and Ryzen 3 3200 CPU fits that need nicely. I added 16 Gb of DD$ RAM, and PRESTO! A terrific PC gaming system! The built-in M.2 SSD system drive really makes a terrific FAST system. I love it! Plus, I purchased a T-Mobile Home Internet system with 150 Gb network speed, and it all works together very nicely. If I were any happier, I'd be illegal! ;-)

at first I was a little sceptical because I wanted a full-sized motherboard but I couldn't wait for the full atx version to be available so I grabbed this one instead. I needed a motherboard that supported 3000 series ryzen and this was the one available at the moment. in the past, saying micro atx motherboards meant getting a cheap, slow performing and featureless one but I can say I'm more than pleased with it. It has all the bells and whistles as its bigger siblings, and has the same quality which MSI is known for putting into its boards. plus, it supports all ryzen processors, including the 3000 series without bios flashing. all this at a very affordable price.
