Writing this review in Dec. 2021, the GPU market is ridiculously high. $460 before tax for this card, which is better than 3rd party sellers I guess. It's quiet until the fans kick into high gear. Doesn't bother me, but some maybe don't want that. Easy installation, takes up 2 PCI slots in the case.Performance-wise, it does the job. I've been running games like Total War and The Witcher 3 on medium without problems. I'm sure it could do Ultra, but my case has bad ventilation so I can't comment.I recommend for now, hopefully it lasts longer than my last card (5 years).

Finally, a video card to buy!

Two years ago my RX 480 died. And I could not find a vid card. I ended up buying a used rx 570 from a kid down the block. And I have had issues with lockups since. And for a long time, daily reboots were the norm. Finally, I see the RX 6600 for sale on Newegg for a "reasonable" price, and bought one. The shipping was very fast, I like that. And so far, all is good. No hiccups or issues, my computer is rock solid. The games I play are Doom Eternal, Minecraft 18.10, and Civ 6, all run at high settings with no screen tearing or other artifacts. And a high FPS too, Doom runs at 75 fps. For my needs, this video card is good for me.

Great card, VERY efficient. Better than my old MSI 1660 Ti

Recommended as alternative to GTX 1660 TI (or Super, etc...). I had a VERY similar MSI version of the GTX 1660 Ti and this was faster, quieter, and more efficient. The Ray Tracing capability is minimal but if you compare it to a GTX 1660 series I like it a lot better (and I liked my MSI 1660 Ti a LOT). I also tried it against an MSI RTX 3060 Ventus 2X 12G but that was noisy (70% fans) and power hungry enough (150+Watts) even in non-RTX simple games like Civ 6 that I'm glad I have this card instead, even if the Ray Tracing isn't quite equivalent.

Great gaming card as an upgrade to older RX580
27 January 2022

I made the decision to purchase this one based on the availability, the fact that the price was at least comparable to the other cards in the 1080p performance range, and because numerous video comparisons of the RX6600 compared to the current card I had (RX580) showed almost double the frame rate in a comprehensive list of game titles. This is a 1080p card. You could push a few titles to 1440 or 4K but count on making some sacrifices in quality to get any FPS. The good news is if you are content with 1080p and have a monitor with FreeSync that can go 144Hz or higher you can enjoy 1080p Ultra at high FPS all day.

Major issue with RX6000 series. Be aware!
26 January 2022

Bought MSI RX6600 Mech 2x 8G to replace my AMD RX550 2G card. Old one was able provide stable 40 fps at low setting in Borderlands 3. Unfortunately new card (MSI RX6600) cannot run Borderlands 3 smoothly. It suffers from huge FPS drops, effectively ruining gameplay. FPS can fall from 200 to 30 and back in about half a second, hurting gameplay in a very bad way. It looks like the GPU clock is all over the place. GPU has super aggressive power saving, forcing GPU clock to drop from 2400 to 80Mhz in B3 and some other games (often mentioned are War Thunder, Rocket League, Fortnite and CSGO.). Its not about overheating, throttling, PSU or CPU. Borderlands 3 is unplayable even on low graphic settings! WoT & Cyberpunk run smoothly on Ultra. Issue is well known (found few forum threads) and currently the only workaround is to disable GPU deep sleep (requires special tool - MPT) or set a minimum GPU clock speed in Radeon software profile for particular game. Setting minimum clock removes 95% of stutters. In times when people pay crazy amounts of money to upgrade their GPU's, this is totally unacceptable. They can actually end up with lower performance on their favorite games. This is a major red flag.

Overall pleased. Decent gpu. Glad I grabbed it when I did.
11 February 2022

I run a 1080p 144hz gaming set up (Ryzen 5 3600 and Radeon 5500xt 8gb) because its decent and works solid for single player / graphic heavy games (Tomb Raider, Hitman, GTAV story, RDR2.) as well as using it for music mixing and editing software. After installing the RX 6600 I saw a slight difference in graphical quality between games, but nothing too noticeable. I did notice that for some games where I already adjusted the settings there were frame drops (For Honor and Destiny 2 mostly) however after some slight tinkering and fine tuning I was able to make my gpu and cpu operate at a good level. Make sure you keep it all updated Users!!!

Solid 1080p Card
9 January 2022

Bought this card to relieve my MSI RX580 Armor 8gb card from frontline duty. With cards still so expensive I was just looking for a modest update to my rx580 that gets put through some serious workloads between gaming and work. I have a dual boot pc/Mac and both cards work flawlessly. This card was a drop-in replacement for both my windows boot and my macOS boot. Opencore + lilu + whatevergreen work well to get the card up on macOS. The card runs incredibly efficient. I haven’t really put it through it’s paces but it drives overawatch @ 1440 60+FPS without breaking a sweat. I don’t think I’ve seen it above 71c. It’ll drive a 4K 32” monitor and light office stuff without even kicking the fans on, where my 580 would def spin up card fans. Sturdy card as well, I didn’t ... MoreBought this card to relieve my MSI RX580 Armor 8gb card from frontline duty. Sturdy card as well, I didn’t realize it until I pulled my 580 and put it in an old build and realized the difference in flex. With the cost of GPUs where they’re at, I’d highly recommend this card for the average gamer/designer types in a heartbeat.

Thicker than dual slot
3 February 2022

I originally ordered this card because it looks like a significant design refresh, compared to the other MSI RX 6600 that was available at the time. It was also $20 cheaper, which didn't make sense, but maybe this situation explains is why this is the case. Before the main reason, I have a small but meaningful gripe. There is a "back plate" on this gpu, but it is just a garbage plastic shroud. This adds thickness to the card, while probably just insulating the heat closer to the card. My main issue with the back plate, is the fact that all the mounting screws are built into this back plate, so it is not an option to remove it. Now to the real issue... I have a Louqe Ghost S1. It supports dual slot, full length GPUs. This is the first dual slot GPU that I have to compress the plastic shroud, to even fit it into the slot. Once it's in the slot, there is no chance of putting the side panel on. I understand that I potentially could have researched this, but you are not given any other information besides "dual slot" on Newegg! The thickness dimension is not listed, but depth and width. If people are building PC's with different components, hiding this incompatibility (while indicating it is compatible) is unacceptable to me. Especially when it is just for a pseudo back plate that feels like it is 3D printed with 10% infill. It's all for show, and a PITA. As soon as you open the box, you are not allowed to get a refund. That's why I'm angry, and leaving a 1 egg review :). Thanks for reading!

Tune The Fans & Be On Your Way
8 December 2022

I've had this card for a little over a year & it's great... with some tuning. The stock VBIOS is a 100W limit undervolt that still performs very admirably. The stock fan curve is the only issue; Despite the 100W limit, it ramps up very aggressively after hitting 50°C. I have lowered the fan curve as much as Adrenaline will let me & the card struggles to hit 60°C even through hours of high load. Build quality is acceptable for this class of card.
