MSI Z790 Gaming Plus Wifi LGA 1700 ATX Motherboard

Hi all, so far so good. Took me about 2 hrs to install in the new case, instructions were more than adequate very straightforward. I like the fact that heatsinks were provided for the cards, nice touch. I have only given a score of 4 stars, it would have been 5 except for 1 point. The software download for the board came with lots of updates and other free programs. My fault entirely, instead of looking at each individual item I clicked yes to all, which also came with Norton anti virus, I have premium kerspasky, which caused a compatability issue. Finding very difficult to delete Norton. Other than that it's a great motherboard.

A MB with all features an average gamer needs!

The MB is solid and easy to install. It has all features needed by an average gamer, e.g. DDR5, WiFi, and PCIE5, without breaking you bank. I was initially undecided among Gaming Plus and Gaming Pro and MAG Tomahawk. Gaming Plus has a similar spec (and even slight better than the other two) and a lower price. I pair it with 13600K and 4070ti. The only shortcoming is the Win11 installion. I have to by-pass the network setup (using 'Shift-F10) during the installation as the drivers of LAN and WiFi are not installed.

The product was new, but apparently it had already been opened. since it did not have any sealing label. When I opened the box, the card was closed in its bag, however as for the additional mounting elements, it was missing some screws in the box, that bothered me a little, possibly someone had bought the card, removed the screws and Returned. Luckily I had all the necessary screws to do the assembly correctly. It works good!

Driver Utility Installer keeps firmware up to date, preventing potential software issues. Overall this is a really good board and can pair with 12th, 13th & 14th gen processors. My old 12th gen CPU can rest perfectly at the heart of the board~!

Excellent Motherboard

A solid motherboard for anyone who wants decent performance without breaking the bank. Supports the latest Intel processors and DDR5 RAM, so it’s future-proof. Built-in Wi-Fi 6E has been super reliable for me and there's plenty of slots for SSDs and other upgrades. The design is clean and straightforward, making it easy to set up. Overall, a good purchase.

Exceptional Value

I purchased this motherboard from Best Buy as part of the Geek Squad desktop build performed by Best Buy. For the cost it is a very good value. I have the board installed in a NZXT Flow 9 case, also purchased from Best Buy. Thus far, I have been very much impressed with the board. I would say that users should not forget to plug in the wifi/bluetooth antenna. Without it, your bluetooth will appear on your desktop, but have limited connectivity to it.

Great MB for Upgrades or New Build

Excellent MB, I used a new i9-12900k and 32GB DDR5 RAM overclocked to 6400MT. There's no need to design 4 memory slots as it's a chipset issue to get 2 channels to operate at XMP (not the fault of MSI). I love the number of M.2 slots and populated 2 of these (total 4TB)! Using a RTX-4070 Super and an 850w MSI Modular PSU (12vhpwr cable plugs directly into GPU), we have a device that still can be functional for 5 years!

I am liking the BIOS. A couple of clicks and gaming mode was enabled thrashing the CPU to 5.3Ghz. Memory clocking at 6000Hz too.Best bit, was realising the firmware can be upgraded within Windows.Today, life is good. 👍

A popular board supporting 14th gen.Pity intel i7 and i9 have issues.I'm a techie and found the MSI manual not quite aimed at English. It had all the connections listed but lots od info missing. Some info can be found on their help pages/forum.Once I connected everything, to my relief it booted first time. 👏

great for overkill setups

this is an overkill motherboard, but it works very well if your needs are overkill.4 NVME drives are perfect for my work because I have to move large amounts of 4k video and RAW photos. thanks to having so many NVME slots, I can actually place everything in super high speed storage.DDR5 memory only was something I did not notice until after I bought it, so you will have the additional expense. (DDR5 is far more expensive than DDR4 at the moment)the WIFI is also very fast, which was unexpected.
