I bought this Whisperlite repair kit for my Whisperlite International. I believe in having back-up parts and tools for all my stoves. I don't want to have to wait for parts come in to use my stove. This MSR WhisperLite / International / Universal Expedition Service Kit is a necessary part of your stove. Having your stove shutdown just because you didn't have a small part you needed to run the stove is ridiculous! (Got to have your hot Coffee/Tea every day!) This is one of those: get before you need it, things. Get it now. It will cost more later.

I'm terrible. I was mean and neglected my DragonFly for well over a decade. It was always a workhorse and fired up with I wanted it to. Sadly the jet seemed to be a little dirtier than I'd like lately and some of the seals had dry-rotted so I opted for the service kit to just rebuild it. I followed the instructions (no I didn't, I watched the YouTube video on the MSR channel which you will do as well) and the rebuild went smoothly until it was time to replace the jet itself. It's still stuck in my stove :-(. Sadly it's just gummed up with varnish and soot for me to break loose. I've read a few tricks/tips/hacks for getting it unstuck and so far I haven't had any luck. Please let this be a lesson: DO NOT NEGLECT YOUR STOVE! If you're buying a new stove buy the ... MoreI'm terrible. I was mean and neglected my DragonFly for well over a decade. It's well worth it.The best part of the kit is all the stuff you need to rebuild the fuel pump is right there with the stove stuff. That was a much needed servicing as well. Again, don't neglect your pump! My only regret was not buying TWO because now I've used pretty much everything in the kit.

Hitting the trail soon with a group of Scouts at Philmont, NM. Rest assured having service kit along. I work on boilers for a living and I can see a lot of thought was put into this kit. Everything is covered for any mishap during a remote, back country outing.

I bought my XGK somewhere about the time they first came out, more than THIRTY YEARS AGO, and I can still depend upon it every time. "Yeah," you say, "but they're expensive." Tell me how many other products you have that have lasted more than 30yrs, still work, and for which you can still get parts??? I bought the stove while in school in Washington, but I live in Alaska and have traveled a bit -- Europe, Iceland, Stateside. I picked the XGK back then because of the fuel flexibility. I just talked my son into buying the Universal for the same reasons -- he squawked too, but I reminded him that I had my stove long before I met his mother. Of course he loves it now. Great Products, Great Company.MichaelHaines, Alaska
Item arrived promptly. My whisperlite stove is 17 years old so i figured this maintenance kit is a good thing to bring along. Its a good thing I bought it; the night before our trip I tested the stove and it had a big leak at the valve on the regulator. A quick oring change later and I was back in business. Such a small thing but it would ruin your wilderness trip if it happened on the trail.
I purchased this to make sure we are prepared for our multi-day hike. Our whisperlite stove simply has to work the whole trip. And even if we don’t end up using anything, spare parts on future trips away from any help just brings peace of mind.
After digging my venerable WhisperLite stove out of storage, I figured I'd better do a little maintenance on it. The stove hadn't seen the light of day for over a decade, and this kit has everything I need to replace, refurbish, or restore the stove and pump. The box provides enough room to drop in a few extra tools and supplies, too. After cleaning and maintenance, the old stove works like new. I don't anticipate problems, but with this kit I'm ready for anything that might malfunction.
I purchased this kit to do an overhaul on my approx. 30 year old Whisperlite International stove. Unfortunately, many of the included parts only work on much newer stoves (current model, and the pre-2012 model--but not the mid-80's model I have). Some of the o-rings and the priming wick will be of use. The jet and cable tool is of a different design than the old one and may not work on some of the fasteners (the screw securing the burner for example). Fortunately, the kit did include a compatible check-valve plug and spring though the new check valve didn't so I had to re-install the old one.Overall it's a good kit, expensive for the few parts I'm able to use but since this is the first maintenance the stove has needed (aside from jet cleaning) the cost is only ... MoreI purchased this kit to do an overhaul on my approx. 30 year old Whisperlite International stove. I was hesitant to buy this kit after reading the earlier reviews. My 20+ years old stove started leaking fuel like crazy after i used white gas in stead of unleaded fuel (as I did during the last 22 years). I guess a side effect of the white gas was, that it cleaned all the o-rings too. So gas everywhere. I bought a new pump and a service kit, just to be sure. In this service kit is, next to all kind of spare parts, also a very detailed discription of how the clean and repair the stoves. Both for the new models (the "red" ones) as well as my old "grey" ones. So I replaced all the o-rings on my old pump and voilá: it workes as always. The kit has all o-rings for both models and plenty of other space parts for both of them. I can not relate to the previous negative ... MoreI was hesitant to buy this kit after reading the earlier reviews. Only downside is the price: 30 bucks for the kit seems a little bit on the high end, but then, 30 bucks every 20 years, I guess that's okay.
I went online to get the best price and delivery. Saved a few bucks here and delivery was great. Got the stove pump fixed in time for the camping trip. I have ordered from Moosejaw a few times and have not been disappointed and saved some serious cash- especially on my tent purchase. I am also building a bank of Moosejaw dollars for a future purchase!
