Best taste ever!

I used to drink Spirutein chocolate for years and it was the only "palatable" shake I could stand. I recently saw that they changed their formula and since the taste has been altered, it is no longer an option. I tried this on sale and took a chance that it might taste ok. What a surprise! This shake is DELICIOUS- in milk it is truly like a chocolate milkshake. The hubs has his with water and says it is the BEST TASTING protein shake he has EVER had. The protein is also considerably higher than other shakes. I hope they never stop making this- Sams by far has the best price on it, even when not on sale. Highly recommend!

I like to buy isolate proteins to cut down on the carbs and sugar so I thought I would give this a try since Muscletech is a major brand and surely has their act together. I do not drink shakes because I like the way any of them taste necessarily but this one is just gross. Considering I mix with water probably doesn't help the flavor but it is kind of unpleasant and definitely not chocolaty. I opt for spoon mixing but it doesn't dissolve very well so you get a layer of chunky powder on the top and I feel like half of the powder gets stuck on the sides of the glass. It's an ok product based on the nutrition facts but after I choke down the 3 lbs I"m going back to Six Star Isolate; it actually tastes like chocolate with less carbs, sugar, calories, and cholesterol ... MoreI like to buy isolate proteins to cut down on the carbs and sugar so I thought I would give this a try since Muscletech is a major brand and surely has their act together. Great Tasting protein

This protein disolves great with water or milk. No clumps what so ever. Great taste.I've been through several brands of the powder, trying to balance price against performance, and this feels like a good deal.I've recently in the past few months used several different brands of powder, and the Muscletech is competitive with them. In fact, it feels like that they are all almost the same, but with slight differences on the additives. I have not had the clumping problem with the Muscletech, and I have the admit that the reason I am writing this right now is that I took a drink of the mix and said to myself "That's good". I prefer to mix it with milk; the resulting shake is creamy and tasty. It mixes well with water, but the product afterwards is thin and fulfilling.

Even if we take a conservative estimate that the whey blend is mostly concentrate (and less isolate and hydrolasate), it's still a great deal. It's not one of those "spiked" lower-quality proteins cut with cheaper aminos.A more expensive alternative is MuscleTech's Premium Whey Isolate product. It doesn't have creatine and added free-form aminos, just isolate plus some additional digestive enzymes. To help with digestion (and to also spread out the cost), I cycle between the this and the isolate within the same day OR I combine them. When combining, I often use 1 scoop of this blend + 1/2 to 3/4 scoop of the isolate.

Hard to dissolve

I got this to use as a supplement to add protein to my feed tube diet for post surgical nutrition. For that reason I can't comment on the taste, only on how it mixes to use via a g-tube. I mix the one scoop serving with 8 oz of organic whole milk. Other similar products have mixed well in cold milk just using a spoon to stir, but this product will not fully dissolve, even using a blend stick. After blending several minutes there are still lumps that won't dissolve. If I was drinking this it wouldn't be appetizing to have gelled lumps to swallow, but in a feed tube it's a real problem since it clogs the tube. Finally I tried heating the milk, and most of the lumps dissolved in the heated milk after blending it. That's how I'm using up the big jar of this, but I won't purchase it again since there are other products that don't require the extra steps of heating the milk and blending to be able to use it. It's very disappointing because I do like the high protein and nutritional content, and Sam's price makes it affordable.

I’ve had many protein shakes and I feee like I actually see gains while drinking this! I always do two hefty scoops for reference.I’m not sure if it’s the creatine within the powder that helps the gains but I love it! Only think is it’s very chunky still after shaking with my blender cup ..I’m basically get a arm workout in while tryna shake it up so it blends through ..only dislikeFlavor is only to rave about but it’s tolerable if you want them gains!!

The subject of today’s posting is MuscleTech’s 100% Premium Whey Protein. Now I know what everyone is thinking because I said it too, but oh man, yet another whey protein product to flood the market, but the funny thing is, MuscleTech has one other protein supplement that is sold in every store, and that is their Nitro-Tech Hardcore Pro Series. This product differs in that it is obviously marketed towards the Average Joe, and Jane (to keep it politically correct), instead of the teenage kid who see’s Phil Heath on the cover of a bodybuilding magazine and figures since he advertises it that’s why he is so big! Yea, we all know Nitro-Tech is the reason Phil Heath won Mr. Olympia this past September.Anyways, to get back on subject, the Supplement Facts are as follows: Serving Size – 1 Scoop (33g), Calories – 120, Total Fat – 1g, Cholesterol – 35mg, Total Carbohydrates – 9g (.5g Dietary Fiber & 2g Sugar), and finally Protein – 20g. The label contains a nice amount of ingredients also the product is pumped up with Amino Acids. Here’s what we got:The first batch of ingredients on the label is categorized under the Premium Whey Protein Blend. This Blend contains Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Protein Isolate, and Hydrolyzed Whey Protein Concentrate. The first ingredient listed under this Blend is Whey Protein Concentrate, which is similar to Whey Protein Isolates in the sense that the majority of the substance in it has been removed. The next ingredient under this Blend is Whey Protein Isolate. Whey Protein Isolates have had their water removed and are almost completely lactose and cholesterol free. And the last ingredient under this Blend is Hydrolyzed Whey Protein Concentrate, which has been treated with enzymes to break down either the protein or the lactose into smaller components.Next, we have Maltodextrin, which is used as filler and is a straight source of Carbohydrates. The next blend of ingredients on the label is mixed together under a name known as the Recovery Blend. This Blend of ingredients contains Creatine Monohydrate, L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine, and L-Glutamine. The first ingredient under this Blend is Creatine Monohydrate. Creatine Monohydrate contributes to brain function and memory, participates in the formation of bones and cartilage, supports the body’s immune system, and protects cellsNext on the label we have L-Leucine, which is utilized by the body in the liver and muscle tissue. When used for dietary purposes it can stimulate muscle synthesis (growth). Too much leucine can be toxic for the body. Next we have L-Isoleucine. Isoleucine may help provide the oxidation of muscle cells, or in simpler terms, it provides large amounts of oxygen to your cells so that they may grow. The next ingredient listed under this ingredient profile is Micronized L-Valine. Valine comes from Valerian Root, which may help relax muscles. Next is L-Glutamine, which is an amino acid that serves as a necessary building block for protein in the body. It is also the amino acid lost in the greatest quantity during strenuous exercise.Next we have Cocoa Powder, which . The next ingredient on the label is Glycine, which . And the last “Blend” of ingredients on the label is gathered together under the Gum Blend. The Gum Blend contains Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum, and Carrageenan. The first ingredient under this Blend is Cellulose Gum which is used to thicken, stabilize and emulsify a product. The next ingredient on the list is Xanthan Gum, which is also used to thicken foods. And the last ingredient we have under this Blend Carrageenan, which is a food additive, but is a vegan alternative to gluten.Next is Salt, which is part of the electrolytes which keep the body hydrated, too much salt may have an adverse effect on the body.. Next on the label is Soy Lecithin, which is a mixture of phospholipids derived from the processing of soybeans and generally used as a natural emollient and has been utilized in various food and industrial applications. Soy lecithin is then the lecithin that can be derived from soybeans.. The next ingredient we have is Sucralose, which is a zero-calorie artificial sweetener. Although added in small quantities, it is added to protein supplements that are considered “bulking” agents and that also include glucose and Maltodextrin. An example of Sucralose is Splenda.. And lastly, the final ingredient on the label is Acesulfame-Potassium, which is a calorie free artificial sweetener. At first, this product is difficult to consume. It does not mix particularly well with water or milk, I noticed that you really need to blend the protein to get rid of the clumps, but who has the time when you are on the run to mix your whey shake in a blender instead of a shaker cup? Anyways, the serving size is nice and small, only about 33g, which provides you with an awesome 30g of Protein and 9g of Carbohydrates. Another negative attribute of this protein powder is the taste. I had the chocolate flavor, and at first it is a little rough to take down, but after a week or so you become accustomed to the taste and you barely even notice it. So, based on the ingredients and my experiences with the product, I am going to have to give MuscleTech’s 100% Premium Whey Protein a 5/10. If you are looking for a bunch of protein for cheap and happen to be in Sam’s Club then go for it, this is an awesome purchase, but I wouldn’t switch from whichever whey protein powder you are currently using to go out of your way to purchase this product.

There's always a clump or three stuck in the corners of the pitcher, even though I throw some ice cubes in which usually ensures that any chunks get broken up. The flavor is slightly odd, but not so bad that I can't cover it up with some diet A&W root beer.
