Love these screen mirroring lights. Relatively easy to set up, even though there are minimal instructions provided.Found the lightstrip easy to stick to the back of the tv, and used the provided corner guides to help bend the lightstrip around the corners neatly. Purchased a kit for larger than our tv size, and was able to cut the excess length off with scissors.Configuration of the camera was simple enough via the Nanoleaf app. Once set up, you can control and change between the various settings via the app.Have found the colour matching of the screen mirroring to be nice and accurate. Love the ambience these lights add to the viewing experience.

Everything you need for setup is included. All you need is an available power outlet. With any ambient light reduced, the backlighting effect is very striking. This light effect is a must have for hardcore movie lovers and gamers.

The 3M tape on the strips does a great job keeping the strip mounted to the TV.
An overall quick and easy way to add an intricate light border behind your TV.Installation was simple with all the included components and honestly the hardest part for me was getting the power cable through our hidden TV passthrough without removing it from the wall. With that said, I was able to install the light strip and the controller without having to remove the tv which made things feasible, but it would have been easier if I had removed the TV and worked with the full backside exposed. The package included these neat corner brackets which allow you to easily bend and manipulate the light strip around the corners of the tv. The corner brackets also had slits cut into them to allow them to conform to the shape of the rear panel for a seamless turn of the strip. The entire strip has a double-sided tape backing which adheres to the back of the TV without any issues. Though I will say, try to get it right the first time, as I had to redo the strip twice, and by the second time around the stickiness of the adhesive was reduced significantly. I installed the strip on a 65-inch TV and found that I needed to go in about 3-4 inches from the edge of the TV to make the strip complete the full run of the TV.Once you have your light strip installed and the control box setup, make sure you properly set up the calibration in the app. I was initially frustrated that the lights didn't match at all, but then realized you must go into the app settings and set up the lights appropriately. Calibration includes setting the four corners of the light strip and a calibration of the camera’s field of view.Overall, the unit functions well, but it does have some issues here and there that I’ll mention here. For starters the microphone for the sound reactive light display is located on the controller, so you need to ensure that the controller box is exposed and not tucked away somewhere to be able to pick up the ambient sound. I found that you really must turn up the volume for the mic to properly pick up sound to trigger the light strip, and even then, I didn’t find it very accurate at detecting volume and beat changes. The sound reaction is cool, but don’t expect it to be perfect.Another issue that I have run into that I can’t shake is that occasionally the light strip will display random colors when placed into 4D mode (mirror mode). After checking the calibration tool, I noticed that during the day, our windows will reflect off of the screen and the camera thinks that is an image it needs to display, and during the night any reflections on the screen get picked up (for example, we have a glass top on our entertainment center, and it reflects light onto the screen) and reproduced by the light strip. Overall, color matching was difficult during the day, but got better in the evening with the room being totally dark. Color matching is not accurate or smooth compared to an HDMI pass through, but it'll work. Now if you are just using the color strip to light up a set color around the frame of your TV then it works awesome. You have a full RGB color scale to play with as well as the ability to adjust the brightness. You have the option to mount the camera beneath or above the TV, just note that if you mount it on the top, your TV will turn into a unicorn with the arm and camera extending out the of the top of the TV.We connected ours to our Echo device and have no issues using the voice assistant to control the light strip. The nanoleaf app is simple, straight forward, and easy to use/navigate. Though occasionally it did have issues connecting to the main unit.
Lights are great, but there are definitely some quirks. Like other Nanoleaf products it struggles to reproduce purples. Initial setup is terrible. After setup things smooth out. Calibration is quirky and only works if you invest the time to really get it in the right spot. Doesn’t sync to other Nanoleaf bulbs or strips and they do not offer any individually addressed strips to work in conjunction. You can sync up their more expensive models of designed lights though, just not strips and bulbs.Tracking is slightly delayed but honestly isn’t the worst. There are plenty of times where things do not quite line up when watching things with massive amounts of color. (Anime’s, kids movies) reflections will realllllly mess with the setup/calibration also.Overall the ... MoreLights are great, but there are definitely some quirks. I installed this Neoleaf 4D Addressable Lighting Strip with Camera Starter Kit on our LG 55 inch TV in the living room. It sits on top of a media center fireplace. We have color changing lights behind the TV but I've always wanted some that would respond to what's on the TV. I was a little unsure about getting this because I've added so much smart lighting and devices in and around the house that I wasn't sure if the wife would be pleased. Believe it or not, she actually likes it. Setup was much easier than I thought. You just want to be sure to first clean the TV then to press the corner pieces and light strip down multiple times to make sure it adheres. I placed the camera at the top of the TV because our sound bar sits at the base. The camera is hardly noticeable. As far as function, the lighting feels natural and is a pleasing addition to whatever is on the TV. What really surprised me is the app. It's a solid well designed app but there are tons of setting and things you can do beyond the 4D lighting for the TV. I'm honestly surprised this cost as little as it does.
I walked into the store determined to get the Philips Hue, and ended up with the NanoLeaf instead. The price difference is the main reason, but once installed i sure was impressed. The only caveat is that you need to position a camera to look at the tv, unlike mentioned Hue which gets the information from a rather expensive HDMI box.The light effect sure exceeded my expectations. My TV hangs on the wall with very little space between the tv and the wall. Once that's done, you can connect to the phone App to configure. This is necessary to tell the controller which portion of the strip aligns with the tv corners. With that done, you can pick the mode and for me the so-called 4D is the best option as it interpolates the image and drives the LEDs accordingly. This is not a strict extension of the borders, and once you realize the dynamic interpretation, it turns out to be well suited for most video content.Overall, I really like the effect from this solution and the $80 are an excellent reason to give it a try. (compared to the Hue solution that easily amounts to $500)
This is the third TV backlight I have installed on my TV and this is one is not the best but it is not the worst either. The directions do not tell you where to start to stick the backlight on the back of the TV. Others tell you start on the right side and work your way up the TV, across the top, down the other side, and across the bottom. So, I installed the strip in the same fashion and the colors do not match up with the colors on TV displayed. Upon further testing I discovered that the lights do not really match the color that is displayed on the TV but change brightness and color ‘K’ Values instead to match the overall TV’s color ‘K’ Values as seen from the camera. It acts more like an average of what the TV is displaying and then projects that average color onto the light strip. I do not like this at all as I want the colors to match what is on the TV’s edges. The lights take “forever” (about 60 seconds) to boot up. My previous backlight boots up within 10 seconds.PROS: The camera is small and virtually disappears above the TV. And if you do not like the camera on the top of the TV there is a option to mount the camera at the bottom or base of the TV, just make sure you calibrate the camera.2) This will work with any TV "input" as the camera is used to "see" the TV's color effects and then tries to provide a match or K value color coolness average of what the TV is displaying.Overall, I could recommend this backlight for a simple lighting effect but if you want a more dynamic backlight, I would recommend a different brand or set that uses at least 2 cameras and one that will match color to color instead of an average color.
I really wanted to like/use these on my living room television. Before I acquired thes I watched several videos that showed how the system worked and needed to be installed. Knowing this, it is where I usually say installation and setup went smoothly, Well it was anything but smooth. After working with their technical support for over a week, progress then failures, day after day. Too bad their T/S took a couple of days to tell me to do a complete reset (step 9 was the important part). In addition I had other Nanoleaf products that needed to be re-installed after the prescribed "reset procedure" they told me this would not happen, they were wrong.Below I'll document the reset procedure I was given, if anyone needs it.Please do the steps in order and don't skip.1. Make sure that there is no interference between your Nanoleaf and router like a metal object or close surface.2. Power cycle your Nanoleaf by unplugging the power supply on the power outlet, waiting for a minute then plugging it back in3. Delete the Nanoleaf app from your phone4. Re-install the Nanoleaf app on your phone via App Store for iOS.5. Power cycle your router by unplugging it directly from the power outlet, wait for 30 seconds then plug it back in6. Restart your phone to clear data.7. Make sure that Bluetooth and location settings/ GPS are turned on.8. Ensure that you are pairing to a 2.4GHz network9. Retry doing a reset on your Nanoleaf 4D. Hold the Power + Color Scene button on the 4D10. Log into the Nanoleaf app, pair and set up the Nanoleaf 4D.When pairing we also recommend doing a manual pairing and to do that; Go into the Nanoleaf App. Choose (My) Devices> Then tap the plus +, then "Nanoleaf 4D" Choose "Start Pairing", then choose ‘MANUAL INPUT' and enter the pairing code.Customer Experience SpecialistWell I now figure to have 10-12 hours of experience doing the installation. Several times I could get them to be recognised, but the Apple Home Kit component would fail to find the device and I'd have to start over. The results were not always identical. Once installed I read up on the installation of the leds, and their stiffness adds another complication to the install. The corner mounts they provide have small double sticky pads to adhere to the TV's back. If your TV is completely flat you won't have any problems, My TV is very thin on the top and has speakers/electronics at the bottom. Getting the lights to be a consistent distance from the side was possible but getting the LEDs to be the same distance from the wall was impossible. At the bottom they'd be 3/8" from the wall and at the top 1" from the wall. In Nanoleaf's instructions they recommend 1 1/2-2" and the same distance all the way around - can't be done on my TV. The double sticky tape on the back of the Nanoleaf 4D leds is sticky (once, don't touch it), but also peels off the back of the LEDs especially where it was wrapped around the center of the spool. One good point is the camera and software are designed so that the camera can be hung off the top of the TV (impossible on mine due to thinness of the top of the screen), or placed at the bottom (my only option). The software offers a calibration screen where you're supposed to align a green LED mark with a spot on the screen. The problem is this really does not "tell you'' where the camera is looking, you just have to guess (and you don't really know the field of view of the camera (specifying this in the documentation, with diagrams would help), but this whole calibration process is hit and miss. In the end I could not get any of the corner pieces to stay in place with the sticky squares they provided. However, I happened to have some double sticky "Alien Tape" on hand (can hold over 10lbs). I cut the shape of each corner bottom from the tape and used it instead. Now the corners stayed. Because of the thickness variation of my TV on the top and sides the LEDs were 1.5" from the edge and at the bottom about 0.25". This gave me a similar brightness but at the bottom the individual LEDs could be distinguished (not really the look I was going for, but given the tightness to the wall it was unavoidable (I may get a white filter to cover them in the future, when I have time).Would I do it again, no. The combination of my TV's shape, and distance from the wall was one issue, but the Nanoleafs setup, installation and calibration procedure needs to be rethought. The wimpy double sticky tape to hold the corners on is... a joke. The tape on the LED's (given their thickness and weight is troublesome). And knowing what the camera is seeing is tough. What I've got working is ok, but not as good as I'd hoped. The colors at the bottom of the screen match pretty well (and there is some tuning you can do), but the colors at the top frequently match what's in the middle, not at the top. If I move the camera further out, I can improve this, BUT then the camera is sticking out 6" and distracting (my wife is not pleased, so I can't be pleased either, especially when I spent time describing how it "should" work before we got it.
