Laura Mercier was the gold standard about 20 years ago, and now Saie, but I'm just not crazy about the formulas and how they're very slick and how they wear, which may have to do more with my skin but anyhow...the NARS tinted moisturizer is an absolutely beautiful product. If I layer it under a serum it doesn't get gummy or shiny. If I layer it under another chemical sunscreen sometimes it's a little too shiny but that's not the fault of the product that's what's underneath. The shade is an absolute perfect match for my skin and it doesn't flake it doesn't catch dry patches and it wears extremely well. I will say that Nars Terre Neuve was a good match to my skin, but it gave my skin a very dry cakie look. My skin is dry right now, but I am used to have a glow from tinted moisturizers. This had 0 glow, and settled into cracks and lines on my face I didn't know I had, especially around my mouth. It Really emphasized my peach fuzz as well. I blended it out best I could, but didn't improve till I finished my whole makeup routine with concealer, contour etc. The look appeared then, but I think it was the concealer. After I washed my skin I had more dry skin in different areas and my pimple/eczema whatever on my face were even more dry. Aside from mascara, this is the one product I cannot live without. It has made such a difference in my skins appearance! I started using it about 9 years ago when i was in my late 30s - all of a sudden I looked in the mirror I thought "I need some anti-aging products!" and simply using sunscreen everyday, regardless of how much I am outside, has made the number one biggest improvement in my skin. I throughly wash my face at night so first thing in the morning I only need to wipe it with witch hazel then I apply a vitamin c serum and finish with my NARS tinted moisturizer SPF. I do not like the look or feel of foundation and this is a nice in-between. It is light enough to not feel heavy on my face, and doesn't settle in to lines. Even at the end of the day, my skin looks luminous and plump, and that means a lot since I have many indents and texture in my face from past acne.Formula aside, the shade range needs to be better. Even the lightest shade, terra nueve, is to dark on my fair skin. PLEASE NARS, make a shade that is suitable for pale people, such as those who wear your shades like Siberia. A cool/olive very fair toned version would make me a repeat buyer OVER and OVER again, but as it stands I don't use much of the terre nueve unless it's diluted. Also, I am very acne prone and since I use this regularly, I haven't had one acne that matured enough to come out on surface. I get PMS hormonal ones that are like a bump underneath the skin, but they just reabsorb without becoming inflamed. I am really happy using this product!

Shopped around the site and thought that this would be a suitable replacement. I am usually a warm fair shade, but was stuck between two colors and went to my local Sephora to test them out. I was initially a little surprised at how orange-looking the swatches came directly from the bottles, but after 2 seconds of blending them into my hand they (almost magically) seemed to turn the correct shades, no orange in sight! Though both, unfortunately, contain octinoxate (bad for the environment/reefs), Laura Mercier's has oxybenzone (which is arguably worse), while it looks like NARS has titanium dioxide (a mineral sunscreen ingredient that sits on top of your skin instead of getting absorbed, and is better for the environment, though it does risk leaving behind a white cast esp for those with darker complexions), so I suppose it ticks off a few more things that I was looking for in a sheer tinted moisturizer with SPF. It's also less expensive and comes with more product than LM. Overall, I like NARS' formula much better, so I've been successfully converted!

However I did stipple it on with a brush, once, over Tatcha The Silk Canvas solid primer when I forgot to pack actual foundation for a wedding, and my face looked completely flawless! If I want some oomph/color, I use Anastasia Brow Wiz, tap on Nars The Multiple in South Beach and Orgasm before dusting on the hydrapowder and apply Benefit 24-hr Brow Setter as a final step before I leave my house. No one ever asks me what makeup I use, they only ask how my skin always looks so good.I have very oily skin and this has never caused a single clogged pore or breakout. The times I've strayed and tried other products over the years, thinking newer formulas might be better, I've always come right back to this. It is absolutely the best product for people who want to look polished, but still want their skin to look like skin!
